Media Matters: Caught in Another Lie!

And on national television, no less. With J$P Video!

The Media Matters smear of Bill O'Reilly has been exposed for what it is. So what does Brock's Brigade do? The answer: lie.

On The Today Show, Media Matters representative Paul Waldman was asked to respond to the criticism that their quotes from O'Reilly were taken out of context. Why no, that can't be possible, claimed Waldman, because Media Matters posted the "full audio" and the "full transcript" [QuickTime video]:

How in the wide world of sports can you possibly claim that the transcript you posted was unedited and complete, when the very first words in it are: "Now, how do we get to this point?"

What point? Could that possibly be the point that you left out, the whole setup to the comments? All the stuff that Juan Williams talked about last night? Not only does the Media Matters transcript omit all that, but so does the MM audio clip. It starts at the same point as the transcript, and is less than five minutes long. The "full audio" is nearly 40 minutes!

We know why you left out the setup. We know why you deliberately omitted the context. But then going on national television and making the farcical claim that you posted the "full audio" and the "full transcript"? Do you really think the viewership of Today is so gullible that you can lie to their faces and get away with it?

Apparently, you do.

Nice job, J$, but this is what the far-left does. They simply lie.

Yes, JD, good defense of O'Reilly. I still can't believe that Lauer is defending him, but there's always a first. As someone else mentioned, this, plus the "Betray Us" fiasco of a few weeks ago, may reveal to the world what disingeuous bullies the libs really are.

...Do you really think the viewership of 'Today' is that gullible....
Well Paul hopes so!
When Paul knew he was being exposed and went into his 'playing the victim' part, I wished at that point Joe or Matt would have asked him why they have never posted anything about Mr. Perfect Keith Olbermann.

If you don't include the setup, all of what O'Reilly says makes no sense.
But that's true of anything you read. If you omit the beginning four or five paragraphs of a story or article, the rest of the piece is almost always indecipherable.
O'Reilly knows that the lefties have their long knives out. He choose some poor words and explained what he was intending - in parts - poorly.
But we know anyway that anyone who says anything about race that the left doesn't like will be smeared as a racist. Happens EVERY damned time.

Ugh. Stop it please. You are all racists!!! It's part of your GOP/Neocon makeup. Don't tell me it's not true. You know it is. Just be honest and admit it. But go ahead and lie and tell me off. Whatever.
And another thing HA HA

It's part of your GOP/Neocon makeup.
Forgot the Christianist part. It's GOP/Neocon/Christianist, please.
If you can't get it right, we're just not going to return the respect.
Y'know, there isn't more than a handful of liberal/leftists out there that have the foggiest idea as to what a "neocon" is. They just throw it out there.

Republicans are so racist... they even allowed a former Klansman to be elected to congress!
Oh wait... sorry... Democrats. My mistake.

Damian G.
Even if the Left does admit that they were wrong in this instance, you just know they're going to start their defence with, "But it doesn't change the fact that O'Reilly has said racist things in the past..."

The funny thing is that not only is Media Matters a bunch of partisan hacks, you guys are too. And to top it all off all you partisan hacks are mad a partisan hack website is smearing a PARTISAN HACK. If only your hypocrisy would create some sort of intellectual black hole that would suck all you sorry excuses for people off the face of the planet. Perhaps then America could actually have an honest political debate.

You didn't prove anything with this article - it's one thing to say that missing context might change the interpretation, but if so, why just say that and not actually provide the context and show what was said?
Media Matters is a very reliabe source for info.

One lie?
I guess that reinforces the fact that OReilly has many many many more.
I would rather trust a source caught on ONE lie than to have to trust a source caught in a lie night after night after night as Billo is. the url for the original post on MediaMatters relating to this story and the subsequent MM posts to show if they had the quote correct there at their site or if they offered a correction if it was incorrect.
And by the way...check out the page for OReilly and find me a a which BillO does not lie or distort.
