Ted Turner says he doesn't think the media should show the American flag in the background and that he can't decide which side he's on in the war on terror.

I can't decide whether he's just un-American or full out anti-American.

A news channel doesn't need to fly the american flag. If ted was head of CNN, it would be in first place and fnc would be dead last.

Ted Turner is the founder of CNN. He also was married to Hanoi Jane, if that says anything about his anti-Americanism.

September 20th this year he is quoted as saying that Iran should have nuclear weapons (see widipedia for sources).

As for news channels not NEEDING to fly the American flag, that is not what anti-American Turner said. He posited that news channels SHOULD NOT fly the American flag in the background. It's not even a question of need to him, it simply should not be done.

Considering that almost every news station worldwide uses their national flag as icons and backdrops, I don't see why it's an issue at all.

Has FNC had the flag from the beginning, or just since 9/11?

With the 10th anniversary and all, I read somewhere that FNC originally cast itself as the domestic news network. Any truth to that?

I believe the flag was a post-9/11 development.

I've never heard this business of FNC casting itself as the "domestic news network". That sounds like something a detractor said and, naturally, the echo chamber picked it up.

The flag is different now as well. If I didn't know it was the American Flag, well, I would be confused. I would think it was some weird background thing. I wish they would bringthe old, REAL, flag back. I like it.
