  • Monday’s numbers: Bill O’Reilly-Tucker Carlson-Sean Hannity 1-2-3.
  • Cable Game: Is Townhall promoting fake Megyn news…and a scam?
  • Megyn who? Tucker Carlson nearly doubles Kelly’s ratings in 9pm slot.
  • Outnumbered videos: Panel debates Trump
  • Tucker Carlson video: director.  Beware the CNN spin-off!
  • Sunday showdown: MediaBuzz tops Reliable Sources.   Weekend numbers.
  • George Will on leaving Fox News: ‘It’s their toy.’   Twitter holds a Dash bash.
  • Video: Pete Hoekstra vs in her debut as a Fox News contributor.
  • Joanne Nosuchinsky resurfaces.   Afonso: Rachel Maddow at Smith College.
  • Spotted this on twitter. Didn’t RT it because I don’t want to get Greta in trouble with her MSNBC overlords…

When a fan mentioned @marthamaccallum to Greta, Greta tweeted: Martha’s a friend; watch her at 7 but watch me at 6.
    Tweet quickly deleted.

    • Cecelia

      Ha!

I know things are going well with Martha and Tucker, but I wish FNC had kept Greta.

    • Larry Kelly

honestly not always the best policy.

Last week some fans of The Five wondered if Bob Beckel was really such a good fit this time around.

Now there are rumblings that perhaps Sean Spicer was (also) not a good fit as WH Press Secretary.

Consider these juicy tidbits in Monday’s Washington Post which came from interviews with nearly a dozen senior White House officials and other Trump advisers and confidants, some of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe private conversations and moments….

    • Spicer’s statement Saturday did not go well. He appeared tired and nervous in an ill-fitting gray pinstripe suit.

    • In Trump’s mind, Spicer’s attack on the news media on Saturday was not forceful enough. He was bothered that Spicer read, at times haltingly, from a printed statement.

    • Unlike other senior aides — Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, chief strategist Stephen K. Bannon, counselor Kellyanne Conway and senior adviser Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law — Spicer does not enjoy a close and long-standing personal relationship with Trump.

    • Trump hesitated over selecting Spicer as White House press secretary. He did not see Spicer as particularly telegenic and preferred a woman for the position like Conway or Ingraham.

    • He settled on on Spicer at the urging of Priebus and others.

Things apparently looked better for Spicer late Monday when Kellyanne (who some speculated was trying to undermine him) gave him high marks for Monday’s presser.

    • Larry Kelly

      pithy

      • Cecelia

        And bulleted.

        • Grandpa D

And a lede sentence to make it about “Cable News”.

          • Larry Kelly

            Oldest trick in the blog.

          • Cecelia

I wonder if CNN wasn’t kicking itself for not televising that first press thingy.

          • Michael T

Many media journos (inside and outside cable news) are tweeting about this article. But they all seem to be from the left. Imagine that.

Which so happens to coincide with the fact Sean Spicer news was all over cable (CNN and MSNBC) both on Saturday and again on Monday.

            Fox News? Not so much.

But it seems to suggest it’s not a cable news story is debatable.

          • Cecelia

            That’s called bullshited.

      • Michael T

Yeah, Cece and I have a lot to say sometimes. Hopefully our use of paragraphs and at least an attempt at proper punctuation is appreciated.

        • Cecelia

          I’m always pleasingly pithy..

          • Michael T

With a vocabulary to die for.

          • Cecelia

And that’s just the clean words.

          • Michael T

            Haha!

            No shite!!

          • Larry Kelly

I’m wearing my pith helmet more and more. Still, what a waste of screen space.

        • Cecelia

It would have taken anyone else twice the words to express those profundities.

  • I never considered that Marie Harf could end up a Fox News contributor. Welcome aboard.

    • Cecelia

Between she and Jen Saki, Harf is a tad more likable.

      • You forgot the “p.”

        • Cecelia

Jen has a “p” in it?

          • Hey people, watch your pspelling.

          • Larry Kelly

            pshaw

      • Grandpa D

And Marie Harf was a question on Jeopardy!.

      • Nixon – niihpikiiookani

But Psaki was better looking. Me likeum redheads!

  • Larry Kelly

“it’s their toy”. Just like Mattel, it’s swell.

    • Cecelia

Guess Will is talking about the Murdoch scions.

  • Larry Kelly

    Good one, Tucker.

  • Larry Kelly

Trump to keep Comey as FBI Director. Be interesting to see the cable news attitude shown to that. I applaude it. Managed to piss everyone off depending on the month.

    • Cecelia

      You’re kidding?

      • Larry Kelly

would I kid a kidder? I was in favor of promoting Lewis Erskine, but who listens to me?

        • Cecelia

          They’re keeping Comey close…

          They’re keeping up appearances.

Don’t seem right though. I so wanted to see him gooooo.

          • Larry Kelly

Better get used to it. Comey’s term runs to 2024.

  • Larry Kelly

This is the attitude that made MSNBC #1 and put Hillary Clinton in the Oval Office: https://news.grabien.com/story-dnc-chair-candidates-bash-white-people-racially-charged-foru
Yep, still have not a clue.

    • Michael T

Ah the wonderment and power of getting a hyperlink on the Drudge Report.

Nearly 6000 comments so far on a website many of us have never heard of.

Dan Abrams probably just thew his Starbucks cup against the wall while exclaiming, “Dammit, why can’t we do that!!”

      • Larry Kelly

Don’t read this guy either. Also the Royal Tannenbaum, but that’s been easy since he died.

        • Cecelia

He’ll be yelling “Dance! Dance!” soon again too.

          • Larry Kelly

Kind of like the problem we have with Gypsies. Damn Gypsies and their surprise wagon visits. Why do Gypsies big and little always play their stinking fiddles? Time for them to please the masses. Shove the fiddles up their…

          • Cecelia

Papa would have killed him if he knew what he’d done.

  • I’d read that “it’s their toy” George Will link, but it’s by Erik “O’Whine” Wemple.

    • gcblues

Definitely do not read it. He is spot on and that might be rough on friends of BOR. Even BOR admits his kill books are meant to bring the discussion down to the “folks”. However history is not well written or supported in the format he uses. People like it and many people that would never touch a history book read them and that is good. It does not negate and BOR should have accepted the truth. His books are shallow in page count. That he has a point of view, just like Mathews had in his badly written JFK book. POVs kinda negate factual history. Will pointed out that to understand history reading BOR only will not give you an accurate view. Instead of agreeing to disagree BOR was out of bounds nasty to Will. Very uncool.

      • Your comment is rough on friends of BOR, which I assume includes fans like me. The comment below your reply is rough on supporters of Trump, including lukewarm ones like me. And I can do without the name calling.

        • gcblues

i tried to be fair and balanced, i will review. No pain intended, Curious, how do you see the BOR Will dance? i found it painful.

          • I was on Bill’s side. George is a hack. Both sides have hacks. I still like his baseball analysis, though. It’s the same way I can enjoy Alec Baldwin on Match Game, Anthony Anderson on To Tell the Truth, and Dave Foley on Dr. Ken (the only show out of the three that isn’t a game show) in spite of their liberal activism. We know about Alec, but Anthony has contempt for black conservatives and Dave has contempt for non-intellectuals, which he feels are more on his side than ours.

        • Larry Kelly

I don’t read his comments anymore so separating “rough” from repetitive clodish behavior is no longer necessary.

          • Cecelia

            They’re all identical anyway.

  • gcblues

What happens when people get tired of your belittling low hanging fruit tucker? You can find dumb libs and play with them like captured flies to have their wings pulled off but i bet you get riled up mad on those interviews with cons that can’t speak well, have teeth missing, Alt salutes, Klan quotes. The people you have on are for pure belittlement. You would do better quantifying the amount of kooks on both sides if you can. Show us numbers that there are more kooks on the left than right … if you can…. or maybe brush them aside and talk about things that actually matter. Using kooks to rile up the Chumpettes speaks more badly of the Chumpettes and you than the crazy people you put on to easily Kebob

  • It feels good to see MediaBuzz routinely beat Reliable Sources. It’s the same feeling I got when The O’Reilly Factor outperformed Countdown.

    • Larry Kelly

Or I get when my doog runs circles around the neighbor’s.

  • Michael T

    More on Sean Spicer.

This time from more right-leaning sources like Mike Allen and Alex Griswold.

“Trump White House Is Reportedly Already Talking About Sean Spicer’s Replacement”

    • Until he’s actually replaced, I don’t believe the anonymous source. The calls for his ouster are similar to calls for a coach to be fired a few games into their first season.

      • I’m willing to bet my collection of donut holes that he’ll be there a year from now.

But then I thought so would Megyn, so there’s that.

        • gcblues

you do not want cc renaming like you she did me. oh no.

          • Cecelia

Do you wish me to regret my apology?

          • Larry Kelly

I regretted it, but I’m pretty mean.

        • gcblues

i agree on the substance… he will be there…. however i do think leaks will be fatal to this guy because what is leaked is going to be abnormal and contradicting stuff to the electorate. There is enough cognitive dissonance with Trump already. Very similar to info confirming our worst HRC beliefs.

        • Larry Kelly

Yep, one day like magic, there appeared Dick Sargent.

      • Michael T

I don’t disagree Mike, even though I prefer a more cordial, less combative Press Secretary in the mold of Dana Perino, Tony Snow and Josh Earnest.

        • Tony wasn’t combative with David Gregory and Helen Thomas?

          • Michael T

Let’s go with Perino and Earnest then.

Although I would submit that compared to the feisty Spicer I would say that Snow was generally smoother and less argumentative — with some exceptions like every WH PS has had.

          • gcblues

            Josh Lies.

          • Michael T

            And Spicer doesn’t?

          • gcblues

Was not discussing him. Are you equating them?

          • Michael T

WH PS people have a long history of playing fast and loose with the truth to put their boss in the best light…lipstick on a pig as some might say.

Why you chose to single out the Democrat — other than some sort of knee jerk tribal bias escapes me.

          • gcblues

I hate the left and i hate the pretend cons. Not like i hide it. Besides, dem lies cost me more money. Perino never cost me a dime. Josh’s president cost me plenty starting with my health care insurance.

          • Michael T

            Okay.

          • gcblues

There is no moral equivalence between a looter and a producer.

          • Nixon – niihpikiiookani

            And Perino was a cutie.

      • Larry Kelly

Washington whispers, rumors, chatter, chitchat, gossip, food for stooges.

    • Cecelia

Baio looks good, and judging by his remarks in the link, is more perceptive and articulate than both Carney and Earnest.

      You’re on to something.
