Benghazi Investigation & Trump-Russia Collusion Investigation
Is this deja vu all over again?

If some say the Benghazi investigation was largely a media exaggeration and ratings grab, with multiple hearings revealing very little that wasn’t already known in the first month or two, what about these two?

    • The FBI investigation of collusion with the Russians will yield similar results. Namely, die an untimely and unsatisfying death (at least for Dems) months from now. Money wasted just like the Benghazi affair.

    • Is the media overreacting to the problems in Congress getting theBenghazi Inversigation & Trump-Russia Collusion Investigation
Is this deja vu all over again?

    • The FBI investigation of collusion with the Russians will yield similar results. Namely, die an untimely and unsatisfying death (at least for Dems) months from now. Money wasted just like the Benghazi afair.

    • Is the media is highly overreacting to the problems in Congress getting the GOP Health Care Bill bill passed? The truth is the media may be vastly overplaying this just like they did with Benghazi. And more recently raising false hopes for Dems that Trump will be nailed over collusion with the Ruskies. REALITY ALERT: The WH and Paul Ryan only need six people in congress to flip. Yes, only six. Is this really that challenging?

I think we all might be being played on both issues (‘collusion’ & House vote). Imagine that.

  • Larry Kelly

Anytime liberals start pontificating about the future of FOX, you can be sure of one thing. They will be wrong. We might have Shep and Hannity refight the Battle of Bull Run though.

    • Saintsfan720

I read the article about Fox. Not much there. BTW, I do think Martha should be allowed to continue in prime time after the first 100 days of Trump administration done. She’s been good.

      • Larry Kelly

It wasted too much of my day.

        • Nixon – niihpikiiookani

Much of my day was wasted until I started using the block function. Now certain people can rattle on and insult to their heart’s content, and I won’t see any of it.

          • Larry Kelly

Why didn’t i think of that? Good way to get clutter out of your life. I’ll authorize that son-of-a-blackfon to sue for damages if I’m libeled.

There was actually a better solution.

This 5-day feud had it’s genesis when homemaker attacked a commenter (me) instead of the comment.

Notice I had not attacked either of you prior to that happening.

Let’s not attack each other and we should all be fine. You’ll find no evidence where I attacked first. Other commenters need to know this.

As the old Alka Seltzer commercial said, “Try it, you’ll like it.”
            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qdfMYFl0Ic

This is the “better solution” referenced in my first sentence.

But do what works best for you.

Meanwhile let’s see if we can have a day where everyone limits there attacks, snark and criticism to the comments. The prolonged bickering could be chasing away other commenters like Mike C, gcblues, Joe Concha, homemaker and others. Res

“While not all have expressed views about Julie specifically — I know all too well how they think. But I could be wrong about some of them.”

So, he says Midwest people think one thing-then says “I know all too well how they (his Midwest relatives) but then “I could be wrong about some of them”. I go back to my original comment “stop stereotyping people from a particular part of the country”! Then you head wouldn’t need to be on a swivel saying “I KNOW” but “I COULD BE WRONG”.

And, as an asid, I haven’t been posting for days because some days real life intrudes on Internet commenting time.

          • Michael T

As I said Pam, “Let’s see if we can have a day where everyone limits their attacks, snark and criticism to the comments instead of the commenters.”

          • GATXER

Question…….if I block the Racist defender….Can I still see all the other posts in a thread he comments in….or does blocking the defender mean I cant see any of the post?

I’m usually against blocking people……never felt the need before…..but when they contribute nothing to the discussion but like to fight with multiple people I think it might be a good thing so I dont waste my time on foolishness ravings of a wack job.

          • Michael T

As I said Gatxer, “Let’s see if we can have a day where everyone limits their attacks, snark and criticism to the comments instead of the commenters.”

YES. (Only displayed in the sidebar.)

          • Larry Kelly

You’ll still see the other folks.

          • Nixon – niihpikiiookani

You can read the other posts in the thread, just not those of the blocked individual.

          • GATXER

Hows that working for you? I already stopped bothering to read most of the stooges twitter accounts………its all the same thing day after day….Trump bad……….Black person on Fox bad……..Trump bad………lies about Fox News…….Trump worse………..anyway…can you follow along with somebody missing here?

          • Nixon – niihpikiiookani

I was gone most of the day, but it is less stressful. The posts are simply listed as blocked. They can call names and make vulgar ciomments to their heart’s content and I won’t see a thing.

          • Larry Kelly

            it’s wonderful

Six days ago I made the highly speculative statement that NBC & MSNBC might have very gradually moved more to the right or at least the center than a lot of us realize.
    http://johnnydollar.us/20170315/wednesday-links-and-open-thread-98/#comment-3205792100

Now Johnny posts the link “Ellison: Something’s brewing at Fox News” in which Ms. Ellison writes,

Kelly’s move may have signaled a rightward lurch for NBC, which appears to be coming to terms with its place in our new Trumpian reality.

Hey, it’s always nice to get at least a modicum of validation no matter the source. And I consider Sarah Ellison a good source.

BTW, speaking of good sources where’s ‘friend of the blog’ Joe Concha been lately?

    • gcblues

It is an insult to conservatives to call Trump a conservative, especially when he says he is not conservative. duh! If anything he is a Huey Long carbon copy populist with mental stability issues.

      • Michael T

        Separate tangential issue my friend.

Let’s not go down that rabbit hole again.

        • gcblues

then quit lumping a nut case in with conservatives.

          • Michael T

If I had done that, you’d have a point.

apparently what you say never has anything to do with anything ten minutes later. when you cite a quote about NBC becoming trumpian with your speculation on NBC moving to the right you are supporting the lie that trump is a man of the right, a conservative when he is nothing more than an FDR wanna be nut case likely to cause ww3.

nothing could surpass ‘Trump is my hero” for hilarity.

          • Michael T

            Oh.

            I missed that one.

But I do think we are the only ones here who are definitely not pro Trump. Others can correct me if I’m wrong.

Gatxer claims he’s not — but many of his comments seem to contradict that. But in this new spirit of not taking cheap shots at other commenters I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt.

          • gcblues

I am sure Mr. Kelly would be happy to repeat it.

          • It amazes me how NBC can tell people they’re coming more impartial, they’re doing more straight news, they’re moving toward the center, and “media writers” treat it like it’s gospel. None of that is true; it’s all spin. You’re not doing more straight news when you have Maddow and Matthews co-anchoring convention coverage and election returns. You’re not doing it when you make far-left opinion pundits like Ari Melber into impartial journalists, or have Joy Reid flip-flopping between an extreme lefty rabble-rouser and MSNBC’s neutral “national correspondent” like Jon Stewart switched at will between comedian and serious social commentator. You’ll never see the “media critics” of hoity-toity outlets like Poynter or CJR or Reliable Sources (or even Media Buzz) call them out for this. It’s deemed something that people just don’t do. But let Dana Perino (one of the least partisan GOP pundits on tv) do a fill-in on the 2pm newshour and you’ve got Ice (who’s never condemned MSNBC for all the above examples cited above…and more), Stelter (ditto), and a cast of thousands tweeting about it. As Ari Melber and his ilk watch and smile.

          • Michael T

Yeah, it’s a mixed bag to be sure.

However, there is some evidence that the two biggest shows in terms on revenue — Today and Nightly News — provide some evidence that they are less biased than in the past.

          • gcblues

i do not disagree, i would not argue a point you obviously know more about, so why reply with this to me? I just think it is dumb to call trump a con or a man of the right.

          • Michael T

“you are supporting the lie that trump is a man of the right, a conservative”

As I said last time we debated this, I am merely suggesting that the Trump Administration under significant influencing by Bannon and Miller is implementing policies that satisfy many conservatives including media warriors like Hannity, Bolling, Limbaugh, O’Reilly and Mark Levin.

Trump appears to have no guiding political principles. He can be all over the map depending on what day it is.

  • Larry Kelly

    R.I.P. Chuck Barris. Good stuff.

    • Nixon – niihpikiiookani

I was having my car worked on when I heard it. I loved his stuff, especially The Gong Show.

Isn’t it odd the way some folks were confusing him with Chuck Barry having died, and a couple days later Barris makes honest folks out of them.

      • Berry, not Barry.

        • Cecelia

          Thanks!

          • You’re welcome.

As for Barris, I imagine the forthcoming premiere of the ABC revival of The Gong Show will be dedicated to him.

Everyone of the commenters I have checked have Twitter accounts — you, Johnny, Larry, Mike C., gcblues, Gatxer, Ramjet, homemaker and Joe Concha.

If you think it’s some kind of capital offense to be curious about whether Nixon also had a Twitter account, so be it. Seems like a petty complaint to me.

Notice in the Tweet you posted there was nothing about Nixon lying as you falsely stated here.

Even if you interpret my Tweet differently, that’s really some kinda nothingburger IMO.

Now let’s spend the rest of the day criticizing comments — not commenters. Others here are tired of the bickering.

Re: Shep. Forget comey, clapper, claims and counterclaims and let us look at what we know. Trump was presented with a printed out conversation of his future NSA and a Russian ambassador. It came from somewhere and for it to be presented to a president elect it had the blessing of the previous president. Period, end of story. So let Shep go after Hume who said close to exactly that and see how it works out for Shep.

    • Michael T

Shep has been considered out for over five months?

Wow. I did not know he was out.

I see that as a positive that it didn’t create a bigger splash like it did for Ellen and Anderson Cooper.

It could also have something to do with many people getting confirmation of what they already strongly suspected.

Anyway good for Shep. I wish him well even though I agree with Cecelia who convinced me that he often gets a little too opinionated for a news show.

      • gcblues

what the hades are you talking about? why do nobody’s comments seem to relate to the post they respond to except mine?

So Mr, Gorsuch is in the midst of a discussion of the controversial ‘forced arbitration’ which has been in the news for both the Gretchen Carlson settlement and Andrea Tantaros’ attempt at a settlement.

If you’re pro employee as opposed to the corporation, you might be adamantly opposed.

When you apply for a credit card or buy a smart phone, you have to sign what’s usually a multipage contract with lots of legalese in tiny type. The contract is a take-it-or-leave-it deal: If you don’t sign it, you don’t get the card or the phone. So you sign it. No harm, no foul, right?

Wrong. Buried in the contract you signed there’s often wording that says you’ve given up your right to sue the credit card or wireless company over any dispute you might have with it. That fine-print language is known as a forced arbitration clause,

Sounds draconian — at least on the surface.

But from what I read the other day Ms. Tantaros has no shot and many past attempts to regulate forced arbitration or make it less onerous for the consumer or employee have failed.

My only point here is I find the debate interesting.

    • LenInFlux

Many years ago when I was buying a pre-owned car at a dealership I took the time to read what was on the other side of the purchase agreement I was about to sign and there it was – the dealership retained the right to sue me into the poor house if I failed to hold up my end (I guess if my check bounced or whatever) but if I had any problems I was waiving my right to sue and was agreeing to arbitration. I walked away from the deal and found a similar car at a dealership that didn’t have that clause on their contract.
I think that there is too much nuisance litigation in the courts but this is putting the “little guy” on an uneven playing field and the practice needs to stop.

As for Tantaros – I’ve been wondering if her lawyer has talked her into the idea that they can win this fight for a trial despite what it says in her contract (all disputes settled via arbitration). Her lawyer will get paid to fight this but Tantaros should give it up and sit down with Fox and hammer out a fail settlement and move on.
