    “They’re ‘sh!thole’ countries.”
    “You can’t say that!”
    “Why not?”
“We were hoping they wouldn’t notice.”

    • Nixon – niihpikiiookani

My dad used the same word to describe Ft. Devens, Massachusetts and environs.

      • Larry Kelly

On the twice annual campus carpool trip from West Lafayette to Elkhart, I always referred to Logansport as such. Most always got carsick and threw up there.

        • Nixon – niihpikiiookani

That was probably due to US 24 being a washboard back then.

    • Cecelia

If he had called Alabama or West Virginia shiteholes they would have criticised him only for being undiplomatic.

      • Mitch Alan

        wow, I don’t think so.

  • LenInFlux

I was watching CNN and for a group that was shocked and appalled by the use of that word they must have tossed it around every other minute. If I had to take a drink every time Anderson Cooper said “sh*thole” I’d be in the hospital with alcohol poisoning.

    • Larry Kelly

Just today’s excuse for Trump bashing.

      • Cecelia

He denies saying it and others deny he did.

        To no avail.

        • Larry Kelly

Doesn’t matter. CNN knows he was thinking it.

Trump is President and at some point is going to learn to stop stepping into these racial quagmires. Having said that, I did see clips of Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo with these angry over the top reactions. They have almost become parodies of themselves.

    • He will never stop doing anything controversial. It’s who he is and he will be that way to the very end (January 20, 2021, at noon). Then, he’ll routinely troll President Cuomo/Winfrey/O’Malley/Biden/Clinton on Twitter during their first (of two) terms.

      • Cecelia

        Yep.

        • Larry Kelly

Can’t teach an old billionaire new tricks. Or much of anything he’s not interested in.

          • Cecelia

I hope he continues to give them absolute hell.

          • Larry Kelly

Dems are plotting to censure him I hear. They also plan to play kazoos during the state of the union address.

          • Nixon – niihpikiiookani

The fools can censure their mothers.

      • Saintsfan720

I get what you are saying and understand Trump is not a conventional politician. Also, I agree with about 95% of his policies. A filter in his brain that tells him “I shouldn’t say that here” or “I better not post this” would likely help him, FWIW.

        • Definitely. And I agree with him on policy, as well.

        • Cecelia

Frankly, if Trump had a filter we wouldn’t have seen half of what we have seen exposed in our elites.

          • You found the silver lining in the dark cloud.

          • Cecelia

I don’t think it’s a silver lining, but it’s for the best that we got to see jhow willful, totalitarian, and elitist is our chattering class.

      • Son of Rusty Shackleford

Actually, it’ll be ’til Jan. 20, 2025, at which point he’ll be handing over the Oval Office to our first woman President, Ivanka Trump. Biden and Clinton (both Bill and Kill) will be long since in the grave while the Orca will have married Gayle King and enjoying life on St. Barts, O’Malley will have been forgotten and Cuomo will be in prison (and liking it).

    • Minnesota Nice

I like this tweet from Mollie Hemingway –

I hope the Academy begins offering awards to recognize all the journalistic performance art we’re witnessing.

      • Cecelia

I like the point some other wag made on Twitter.

Trump talked about shithole countries. What if he had called immigrants “wretched huddled masses yearning to be free”….[ostensively from inept and corrupt regimes in shithole countries that robbed their citizens and dominated them].

Could our media get anymore absurd?

    • jrd

“Trump is President and at some point is going to learn to stop stepping into these racial quagmires.”
An individual who believes that he is always right and that it is impossible for him to be wrong does not have the ability to learn anything.

  • Saintsfan720

One last vent: the liberals/Dems on FNC are so much smarter, more interesting and more likable frankly than the Conservatives/GOP pundits on CNN. All CNN has are Alice Walker and Jason Miller that are worth watching more than 45 seconds. Zucker should be begging Ben Shapiro and Jedidiah Bila to work there.
