Wolves in Fox Clothing? Some of the featured interviewees in "Outfoxed" are not who they
seem.
Outfoxed, the anti-Fox News crockumentary, showcases interviews with a
number of former employees of the News Channel. Or so they say. As Warner Wolf
might have said, let's go to the videotape...
One of these interviews is with Alexander Kippen. He waxes philosophic about how terrible Fox News Channel is and has the pedigree of someone who's been there and knows whereof he speaks. Slight problem: Alexander Kippin did not work for Fox News Channel. You wouldn't know that from his website where the video clips prominently feature "Fox News" as the first (and presumably most prestigious) of his job assignments on view. However, play the "Fox News" video something doesn't look right: there's no FNC logo, the graphics are all different...what gives? It turns out "Scoop" Kippen actually worked for the Washington local affiliate of the Fox broadcast network! How odd that this distinction is somehow overlooked. "I worked for a Fox network affiliate, so that means I worked for Fox News Channel." That dog won't hunt. Unfortunately Frank O'Donnell hasn't posted any video for us to make fun of. But he did write a lengthy, self-interested screed about his work at the same local Fox network affiliate. (Could a coincidence be any more shocking...not?) So again, the makers of Outfoxed are trying to palm off a schlub at a local station as a former employee of Fox News Channel. Even if you thought this did give O'Donnell some sort of tangential connection with Fox News, unfortunately it turns out that this connection was before the Fox News Channel even existed! Hey I once worked at a local public radio station. Did you know that makes me an NPR insider? I really must get started on my memoirs. posted: Mon - July 12, 2004 at 03:30 PM j$p  send | |
