Dodging the RedraftThe Outfoxed gals are caught in another unseemly blunder, but the fun
really starts when the cover-up begins.
The ultimate in unethical revisionism? We report, you decide, as the
newshounds (another fine product of the Outfoxed syndicate) take another small
step toward humiliating irrelevance.
On Saturday's Heartland with John Kasich there was a seven-minute segment about the upcoming Best Picture nominations, asking whether The Passion of the Christ would get snubbed, while Fahrenheit 9/11 might be recognized. It was a balanced discussion: two guests, one on each side. But even seven minutes was too much for deborah, who railed that this was all part of a "Christmas Crusade" from Fox. (Never mind that MSNBC has been flogging the issue for the past week with unbalanced panels and multiple lengthy discussions...but we digress.) Unfortunately, as is usually the case with this particular tail-wagger's "reports", she got several facts mixed up. Eager to frame the segment as part of a Hidden Agenda, deborah decided that Fox deliberately paired two films that weren't even in the same category. She was convinced that 9/11 was angling for a Best Documentary nod, while The Passion was eligible for Best Picture, and blamed Fox for creating a false rivalry: Guess it was more effective TV to pit Moore against Gibson the christian martyr. [Note the non-capitalization of "Christian"!--J$] Deborah's evidence: the web site of Kasich's guest (Tom O'Neill) says 9/11 wasn't eligible for Best Picture, proof that FNC was up to no good. But the web site doesn't say that at all: it says 9/11 is not eligible for Best Documentary, but is in the running for Best Picture. So the whole point of deb's article was a nonexistent by-product of her sloppy research. We posted a comment telling deb she was wrong, pointing out what the site actually said, and gave her a link to check it out for herself. Shortly thereafter, deborah's article changed. Now the snark about "effective tv" is gone, and there's a new sentence: It was mentioned that Moore is campaigning to have his film considered eligible as best picture since it is not in the running as best documentary. A total reversal of her original argument--but points to deborah for fixing the errors. However, there is nothing in the article acknowledging that corrections had to be made. Not even a note that the article is revised. The newspups are still trying to hide their mistakes. But wait--that won't work! What about the J$ comments identifying the errors and directing deborah to the real facts? One of those comments even points out that debbie rewrote her article--and those comments are all still sitting right there on the page. Anyone who reads them will realize that the cur critics have once again falsified the truth in order to smear Fox. It did take deborah a few hours to catch on to this embarrassing loose end, but again she found a way to cover her tracks:
No reason? How about just to correct your mistakes, like the ones in your original article before you made the stealth revisions? How about to let readers know how often your "reports" contain disinformation? Or how about because people have a right to know that the newspoodles are more flagrantly untrustworthy than the subject matter of their howlings could ever be on its worst day? Works for me. posted: Sun - December 12, 2004 at 01:45 PM j$p  send 0311groundpounder right on J$. I read newspups from time to time for a good laugh and its good to see someone calling them on their blind acceptance of liberal internet sources as gospel. Funny how they'll delete a trolls comments when they get too factually accurate but its okay when their drones curse you and everything you believe in. oh well, good job, keep it up December 23, 2004, 9:56:45 PM EST – Like – Reply johnny dollar Thanks for the encouragement.
