Return of the DisInfo-BabesThe race for the Lie of the Week is on, and it's no surprise that the
Outfoxed gals are the front-runners. Updated!
We're overdue for an examination of the latest pickings from the Fox
Haters' Grapevine, so let's get right down to business and see if we have a
winner for The Lie of the Week. Miss Melanie of the newshounds (another fine
product of the Outfoxed syndicate) leads off the parade of pretense with a familiar
complaint:
Cavuto does not read hate mail about conservatives. Oh, really? ![]() Then we find the selfsame newspoodle claiming that: substitute host David Asman reported the Foley story when it broke last Friday during Cavuto's show She complained that there was no "Fox News Alert", he wasn't labelled as a Republican, and there would have been all that fuss if Foley were a Democrat. The truth: Asman didn't "report the Foley story when it broke". He was interviewing Dennis Hastert and asked him a question about it. (They generally don't do Fox News Alerts for asking a question.) In fact the Foley story didn't break during the interview. That happened in the previous hour, and guess what? There was a Fox News Alert with all the attendant fuss, and Foley was identified as a Republican: Of course, the mongrels were very careful to make no mention whatsoever of this report. And here's another example of the "invisible man" technique. That's the familiar trick of cherry-picking and selective omission, telling the credulous only what you want them to hear to paint a picture using any colors you choose. We exposed the newsmutts pulling this con many times before, most recently using an entire nine-hour block of programming to demonstrate how they dupe their gullible sycophants. This time it's bowser Ellen, who groused about a Hannity & Colmes segment on the Minuteman fracas at Columbia University: The unbalanced panel included Jim Gilchrist, the Minuteman co-founder who was the Columbia speaker whose presence sparked the protest that ran out of control, and the president of the Columbia University Republicans, Chris Kulawik. No representative from the protesters was there. What happened the very next night on the very same show? H&C had on two of the protesters who were at the altercation. No representatives from the Minutemen or the Republicans were there:
But you'd never know any of this from the biased bowsers. They wrote not one word about this segment, not even to claim it was "unbalanced". Rather than admit Fox gave equal time to both sides, they lie by omission. Our big finish brings us back to mendacious Melanie once again. Here she is concocting an evil relationship between Fox News and the New Jersey Republican Party. She claims the latter's website features a whole page devoted to "Fox News Info-Babes": ...the Fox News "Info Babes" that the New Jersey GOP featured on its website... If you wonder whether the "journalists" at the "fair and balanced news" channel have a thang goin' on with the GOP, check it out. Yes, check it out. The page in question has no connection whatsoever with the New Jersey GOP. It is a commercial, for-profit site set up by a former landscaper to make a buck (hence the .com suffix). And it's not like they're hiding that fact. Not only does this site include a link to the real New Jersey Republican Party page, it even links to a New York Times story all about the entrepreneur who cooked up the "info-babes" site:
This ordinarily wouldn't be Lie of the Week material. But it does rise to that status when you consider that the deceptive doggies pulled this same bit of bunco once before. Yes, a little over a year ago the newsliars made the exact same claim, and trotted out the identical argument that they now regurgitate anew. We explained their error to them back then, but (surprise!) they never corrected it. We over-generously assumed at the time that it was simply more careless newspooch sloppiness. But to employ the same fraud a second time, when you know you aren't telling the truth? That is deliberate and premeditated. And anything that brazen deserves to be The Lie of the Week. Update: Ellen has quietly updated her post about Hannity & Colmes by adding a brief postscript acknowledging that the protesters were interviewed the next night. But she complains that the protesters did not make serious accusations like the Minutemen did. Which is relevant...why? Was that a reason to hide their appearance from the denizens of the kennel? In any case, the protesters insisted that the Minutemen were "violent" "racist vigilantes", endangering the lives of "immigrant workers". Ellen's little one paragraph "update" didn't mention any of that. And of course, by not writing a separate article on their appearance, it can remain a little-seen addendum to a posting that's now way down on the page, with nothing in the heading to acknowledge that it has been updated. In other words, pretty much a "stealth" rewrite. Most kennel-dwellers will have no idea that her complaint of "unfair and unbalanced" has been tacitly withdrawn. Also, the update is dated 10/08/06--the same day as this post--but with no time stamp. Are the newsmutts trying to make it appear that their addendum was not a direct reaction to this article, posted shortly after midnight? Checking the RSS feed shows when they "updated" their piece: Heh. If any of the newshounds tell you they couldn't care less about J$P and never read it, well, now you know better. posted: Sun - October 8, 2006 at 12:18 AM j$p  send | |
