Trickery, lies, and deceit dog anti-FNC screed.

We know from Howard Kurtz that "Outfoxed" snipped quotes from Fox anchors to make it seem like they were giving their own opinion when it fact they were quoting someone else. Trickery. Now it appears that two of the "ex-FNC employees" in this film never worked for Fox News Channel at all! Apparently, the producers of the crockumentary dug up a couple of guys who left or were dumped from a local Fox network affiliate, and decided to "dress up" their story a bit by claiming they worked for Fox News Channel. Lies.

So that covers trickery and lies. Where is the deceit? You'll find it reported at USA Today. "Outfoxed" makes prominent use of a couple of internal Fox News memos that seem to tilt Republican. But USA Today reports that the producers of this "movie" had additional memos, memos that tilted the other way--for example, one telling reporters not to give much play to the one swift-boat member who was against Kerry, and another that warns that speeches by Bush and Kerry should be given equal emphasis. Outfoxed had these memos (and probably others) but didn't use them because they didn't exactly help their agenda. Deceit.

Of course, the people pushing this hatchet job insist that Fox is selective in what it reports, that Fox only chooses stories that fit its agenda, etc. OK class, who here doesn't see this as rank hypocrisy? Bueller? Anyone?
