Maybe It Means Don't Count on Reporting That's VerifiedIt's not just hounds who will lie in the never-ending struggle to smear
Fox News. Updated!
Our friend TVNewser has a regular feature called "The Ticker", with
short observations and commentaries on news coverage, some of them sent in by
regular readers, like "DCRTV Dave".
(What does that stand for anyhow? Dubious Carping Regarding Television and Video?) Today this item from DCRTV appeared: "Fox News cut off a John Kerry speech in mid-sentence Wednesday morning...so it could go to a Bill McCuddy extended interview hyping some new 'reality' show debuting on Fox," DCRTV Dave says. (Perhaps it's Dave Can't Reveal True Verity) That description sounds more than a little bizarre, but Dave apparently didn't count on our trusty Tivo and its photographic memory: 10:28 am FOX began coverage as Kerry is being introduced. (Note: CNN only joined the speech in progress) 10:36 am FOX leaves the speech, not in mid-sentence (CNN also leaves within a minute) 10:37 am FOX Steve Centanni for a report on Cleland's upcoming visit to the ranch (No McCuddy interview yet. How about Delivering Canards about Reporting To the Vulnerable?) 10:39 am FOX in-studio guest from NYC department of tourism to discuss upcoming convention 10:42 am FOX commercial break (Still no sign of McCuddy. Decidedly Counterfeit Rants That Victimize?) 10:44 am FOX legal panel to discuss Peterson case 10:48 am FOX commercial break (Drivel, Calmuny, Revilement, Traducements, and Villification? Thank you Mr Roget!) 10:52 am FOX finally begins the "extended" interview with the host of The Complex reality show 10:55 am FOX "extended" interview concludes (Dishonest Concocted Repartee, Two-Faced and Vicious?) We have sent TVNewser the truth about the incident that Dave has so brazenly falsified, and we're confident that TVN will not hesitate to correct the slanders of DCRTV Dave. By George I've Got It! Dude Can't Rite Truth Verymuch. Update: A correspondent informs us that "DCRTV Dave" posted his phony item at his little website. However, since our analysis appeared, the article has vanished. No explanation, no correction; it is as if it had never been there. TVNewser, however, still shows DCRTV's false "report". As of this time, TVNewser has not posted a correction or retraction, and has not noted that DCRTV Dave himself has withdrawn the article. We have sent an inquiry to TVNewser asking if he intends to post a correction, but he has not responded. posted: Thu - August 26, 2004 at 09:52 AM j$p  send | |
