Banned in BostonThe Outfoxed gals follow Herr Goebbels's advice: when you tell a lie,
make it a big one. Updated!
The news hounds (another fine service of the Outfoxed mafia) have done
the impossible--they've surpassed themselves. Not just a small mistake; more
than just invented quotes. Now they are slamming Fox for its Republican
Convention Coverage, nearly a week before any of it airs!
And what's more, their prescient criticism is...well...see for yourself, as posted by "newshound" Melanie: I saw my first glimpse today (August 23, 2004) of how Fox's coverage of the Republican National Convention will differ from that of their coverage of the Democratic National Convention. On Your World w/Neil Cavuto, I saw two advertisements saying Cavuto's show will air live, next week, from the site of the RNC in New York. Cavuto didn't even go to Boston, much less to the FleetCenter, to air his show during the Democratic National Convention. How to put this, er, delicately? Melanie is a liar. Not just in some detail or some point of opinion--the entire article is a lie. Because Neil Cavuto did air Your World live from the Fleet Center in Boston, for the entire run of the Democrat Convention! Here's one of Cavuto's "common sense" segments delivered on the scene of the convention. Tell us, Melanie, if Cavuto never went to Boston, how could he have delivered a commentary entitled Back from Boston? And then there's Matthew Yglesias describing his encounter with Cavuto at the convention: FLEET CENTER, FIFTH FLOOR, MONDAY, 5:20 P.M.: Borrow a lavish green "hall" pass -- one increment better than my lame purple "fleet" pass--and up to the fifth-floor gallery I went....I hadn't been able to get my hands on any caffeinated beverages since I entered the perimeter, so I thought I'd better give it a shot. Out the door and around the corner I went, but I was too late--FOX News' Neil Cavuto was already in there. Talk about a Big Lie. Millions of people saw him in the booth. Reporters and opinion writers left and right all noticed it. Top Democrats like Barney Frank came up from the floor and were interviewed by Cavuto. But Melanie thinks she can claim he was never there and the gullible sheep who swallow anything the Outfoxed cabal says will lap it up. But you know, maybe she's right. What were the reactions to her totally fabricated article? Here's one of the posted comments:
Another even expands on the lie:
Here's someone who claims to know what Cavuto said during that week, but didn't know he was broadcasting from the skybox at the Fleet Center. In other words, this great mind is giving his opinion on something he didn't even watch! (Not like that's something the newspoodles themselves haven't done.) When we see an article so brazenly false as this one, our first reaction is, man, we couldn't make this stuff up. But the newshounds could. And do. Update: Melanie has thrown in the towel on this one: My memory of Your World w/Neil Cavuto from that period was that he had not been in Boston, and my written notes and posts gave me no clue he was. Since posting "The Curtain Starts to Part," it appears I've been proven wrong. And another one bites the dust. posted: Wed - August 25, 2004 at 12:49 PM j$p  send | |
