Lies, Damn Lies, and...More LiesThe newspoodles set a new record: five falsehoods in just one
entry.
This is pretty straightforward. From the newshounds:
Skinner "interviewed" Marc Racicot (former GOP national chair) on the same "topic" for 11 minutes, uninterrupted, providing him with a podium to drive home the official GOP line. Let's go to the video tape. The interview began at 11:01 am. It ended at 11:08 am. That makes 11 minutes? Does that sound right? (6-7 minutes is the standard length of an interview block, by the way.) So much for that. [#1] The hounds continue about an interview with Jorge Ramos, author of The Latino Wave: Asman, of course was interested only in how GOPs can appeal to Latino voters...When Ramos, a very articulate man, tried to steer back to political issues, Asman simply talked over him, noting how Cubans in Florida tend to vote GOP & that will help Bush win Florida. Once again, the tale of the tape: This interview lasted 6 minutes (just one minute shorter than the "11-minute" Racicot marathon). Asman raised several subjects, including the "political issues" that the pups claim he was trying to avoid. [#2] At the tail end, Asman said: "We only have time for one more question...where will Florida Latinos go this year?" Yes he spoke over Ramos's last sentence, because they only had thirty seconds left! Skinner interrupted this vital interview at 11:56am EDT to announce that FNL had video of Bush paying a "surprise visit" to his campaign HQ. Asman eagerly wondered if FNL possibly had audio too... [Comment: it's just amazing how both audio & video of that "surprise visit" were immediately available, live, to FNL, isn't it?] Lots of falsehoods in just one paragraph. No interview was interrupted. [#3] The video of the visit wasn't made available "live" to FNL, since it was a videotape. [#4] (Clue to the newshounds: when things are on tape, they aren't live.) Asman never "wondered if FNL possibly had audio too". [#5] And lastly, what Asman actually said when the video came up was: "They're looking for any excuse at all to steal some of the limelight from the Democrats during the convention, and that's apparently what this is." It must be a real disappointment to the newshounds that they can't just make up stuff and get away with it. There are actually people who know how to use Tivo. posted: Wed - July 21, 2004 at 03:05 PM j$p  send | |
