Yellow JournalismDo you think that Tom Ridge elevated the terror alert today? Guess who
is insisting he didn't?
The newshounds (another fine product from the minds that brought you
Outfoxed) have a scoop.
We've all had the wool pulled over our eyes. You may think you heard Homeland
Security Director Tom Ridge announce that the terror level was being raised in
parts of New York and other cities. But those crafty gals from Outfoxed, well,
they have the real
story:
The breaking story on Fox is Tom Ridge's announcement, that he has raised the terror alert level in New York, N. New Jersey, and D.C. because of specific threats to certain financial institutions....Switching to CNN at 3:15 PM, I discovered that the threat level color has been orange in New York since 9/11 so it had not been raised as Fox reported. Fox has the populace so brainwashed that people all over the country who have never seen a minute of Fox have somehow still been hypnotized into thinking the terror alert has been raised. Perhaps this statement from Tom Ridge has some relevance: RIDGE: Today, the United States government is raising the threat level to code orange for the financial services sector in New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Washington D.C. As Ridge explained just minutes later (on FNC and the other news channels), New York has its own code orange that has been in place since 9/11. But that's different from the Homeland Security Department's threat level, which was at yellow, but today has been raised (Mr Ridge's word) to orange. Perhaps Robert "Xanadu" Greenwald will make another movie--about the Great Orange Conspiracy, where everybody thought they saw Tom Ridge raise the alert level, but it was all done with smoke and mirrors by the svengalis of Fox News. Because as we write this now, the newshounds website--set up by the Outfoxed crowd to "monitor" Fox--still insists that "the terror alert has not been raised". I guess to the newshounds, this was a story too good not to print, even though it was false. posted: Sun - August 1, 2004 at 06:18 PM j$p  send | |
