Eleanor, We Don't Think You're SwellanorWe're running out of ways to say it: the gals who "researched" for
Outfoxed are still faking quotes, distorting, and telling lies. But this time,
has one of them crossed the line into dementia?
The unending desecration of truth that is the stock-in-trade of the
newshounds (another fine product of the Outfoxed syndicate) has hit a solid ten
on the bizarro scale. We’ll tell you about what may be the most
preposterous pile of poppycock the anti-Fox terriers have ever disgorged, but to
set the scene, consider some earlier drivel from newspup “eleanor”.
First this harangue
trashing Fox News
Sunday:
Two governors were interviewed on Fox News Sunday (Sept. 19, 5:00 p.m.) about the campaign, Bill Richardson, democrat from New Mexico and Tim Pawlenty, republican of Minnesota....In the war of words, Richardson was greatly outpaced by Pawlenty, and controlled by Wallace, had less time, never strayed from the issue or expanded on it. When will they learn not to make statements that anyone with a Timex can prove false? Speaking time for Pawlenty: 2:45 Speaking time for Richardson: 3:56 Doggie eleanor returns to bitch about Carl Cameron again: Carl Cameron quoted Kerry as saying that Bush did not give a true picture of Iraq; he failed to lead the world; he lectured the U.N.; and Bush missed a great opportunity of enormous importance. CAMERON: In his first news conference in 50 days, Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry blasted the President for his speech to the UN. VIDEO OF SEN JOHN KERRY: After lecturing them instead of leading them, to understand how we are all together with a stake in the outcome of Iraq, I believe the President missed an opportunity of enormous importance for our nation and for the world... Cameron didn’t quote Kerry at all--he ran video of Kerry’s statements. Why does eleanor claim otherwise? Perhaps because it is an article of faith with the doggies: Anyone who watches Fox News exclusively for coverage of the 2004 presidential campaign might rightfully wonder if John Kerry is mute. That's because the channel so rarely airs a clip of him speaking. Bush, on the other hand, gets plenty of free airtime. When the anti-Fox terriers see something that contradicts their dogma, they just falsify it. Then Cameron talked about the "mother of all flip flops"... [VIDEO OF DAVID LETTERMAN AND SEN JOHN KERRY] LETTERMAN: If you had elected the President in 2000, in November of 2000, would we be in Iraq now? KERRY: No. [END VIDEO] CAMERON: A simple one-word answer, and Republicans call it “the mother of all flip-flops”. Oh, he was quoting somebody else? Eleanor must have missed that part. Just as she did in the very next sentence: Cameron stated that Kerry's comment about not knowing if the war is illegal "pulled the rug from under the troops who are in harm's way." CAMERON: Also today Kerry was asked if he agreed with UN Secretary Koffi Annan’s charge that the invasion of Iraq was illegal. Sen Kerry said he didn’t know, and that prompted a scathing response from the Bush campaign that said in those remarks Kerry had “pulled the rug out from underneath the troops that he sent in to harm’s way”. Not only did eleanor falsely claim that the statement was Cameron’s own, she also laundered the wording, while still putting quotation marks around it. (As regular readers know, the newspoodles retain for themselves the privilege of creating phony quotes by rewriting words and sticking quotation marks around their counterfeit versions.) But today eleanor reached new heights of lunacy. She started off by misrepresenting what the Fox & Friends hosts said to Sen Joseph Biden: Doocy: Kerry responds to the headlines to determine whether something is bad or good, or Kilmeade: You (Biden) seem to be in "lock step" with the president. STEVE DOOCY: We had Dan Bartett from the White House on yesterday, who--or just about five minutes ago--he said, when the headlines are bad, Mr Kerry is against the war; when the headlines are good, Mr Kerry is for the war... BRIAN KILMEADE: Forget about party politics, before the Presidential thing started, you seemed to be more in lock-step with the President, where I think you have been consistent the whole way and where your criticism is legitimate now, I don’t think that John Kerry has agreed with you along the way. But then eleanor caps her report with what may well be her chef d’oeuvre--and remember, she wrote this today, September 22, 2004: As long as the CBS memo story continues to get the bulk of the news coverage, the campaign news, and other bad news for Bush, is dead in the water. I suspect the other goal is to bury investigative journalism for good. PBS and CBS are the only networks that do it effectively, and 60 Minutes is the star. The cur critics have achieved the impossible--they have surpassed themselves. posted: Wed - September 22, 2004 at 02:18 PM j$p  send GAP I can't stop laughing. But it makes sense, in a perverse way, doesn't it? The news-pooches fabricate and distort, so OF COURSE 60 Minutes is their ideal! Jeez. I need a beer. Just hope I don't laugh half of it out through my nose. Unbelievable. September 22, 2004, 11:08:38 PM EDT – Like – Reply |
