'What a Stinking CoverUp!'J$P Extra! Matt Drudge on the election aftermath, Newsweek, and
more.
From The Drudge Report radio edition, November 7
2004:
Did you see Newsweek this weekend? They’re really into trash. They’re saying Teresa was a hypochondriac, she had no energy, maybe she was drinking a little too much--very nasty coming from Newsweek. Mr Evan Thomas, holier than thou, and he’s pointing fingers at yours truly saying I’m the gossip monger. I’ve never gone that far. Of course if Kerry would have won we never would have heard one word out of this. Not a boo. For instance, Kerry had walking pneumonia last year, according to Newsweek. We never heard this. It was all Kerry’s in tiptop shape, the New York Times saying he hasn’t the flu in a long time, and now Newsweek is saying he had walking pneumonia after the New Hampshire primary. What a press coverup. What they do for access. Oh we won’t report any of this until after the election. Well, what good is it? We almost elected a man who possibly was not in the best health, and nobody bothered to tell the voters. Now it’s cool and chic to trash Teresa and trash Kerry, because they’re losers. And if they would’ve won, you never would’ve seen any of that. They also report that Kerry was broke when he married Teresa. Oh, thanks for that information. What a stinking coverup! All those moveon ads, talking about the end of the world. A 600 million dollar election, and all they got was Obama in Illinois. I think Lawrence O’Donnell knew it was all going down. It was media scorched earth. Why aren’t there banner headlines now about missing explosives? Why has it dropped off the radar screen? By the way, MTV is announcing they are not doing an inauguration ball, even though it’s the largest turnout in the history of the youth vote. We had that great ball for Clinton but we’re not doing one for Bush again. And we’re still waiting for Barbara Streisand’s latest Truth Alert. Her website is hanging on late October. There’s a lot of finger-pointing going on, but there is no blame like that coming out of Hollywood. Alfie opened this weekend to 6 million dollars, that makes Team America look rich. It’s a disaster, far below expectations. The president of distribution at Paramount is saying the conservative ethos reflected in the election results hurt the film. You talk about a giant rationalization. Not that we’re making stinky, filthy movies with bad dialogue: blame Bush, blame conservative America. If only Kerry had gotten more votes in Ohio, then Alfie would have done better. We’ve heard it all now. We know Brokaw’s retiring, we know Dan Rather’s retiring, but Jennings is digging in. Jennings is going to be the place to go for all the good stuff, all the latest talking points from the DNC. I say just give the anchor chair to George Stephanopoulos. He can drive up there on his tricycle, they’ll have to redo the whole set, though. They’ve got to make a high chair, the highest chair they can find there at Columbus Circle. We are looking at some major changes in the media. This whole last week was really the last week. You have Dan Rather talking nonsense: Mabel come out of the kitchen, the devil has hot ankles. You had Chris Matthews towards the end of the night saying to one of his female guests, I’d love to get you on the back of my motorcycle. What was he talking about? And you had Brokaw refusing to call any states--it was shameful, a debacle, from Rockefeller Center, with some weird sculpture spinning and turning. It reminded me of The Wiz. How come Russert got so much face time? Brian Williams is the new anchor, Russert, get over it. You are not the heir apparent to the throne. And then he has these bloggers on, late at night, who are talking about what’s going on on the internet, and they don’t know what’s going on. The whole thing was just despicable. And we’re still waiting for the documents investigation over at CBS. They’re too busy showing Dallas and who shot JR. Developing... posted: Mon - November 8, 2004 at 12:59 AM j$p  send | |
