Johnny, ,I'll be glad to help KeithO and add to the discussions about cable news.
Cable News.
Have you noticed how FNC is just getting spectactular ratings, absolutley stompling CNN, HN, and even that quasi-news channel (Half-News, Half Prison Documentary) MessNBC!
Wow, even that suit masquarading as a man with a soul, Keith Czechoslvakia Olbermann is getting stomped into the ground in his own territory by FNC as noted when Olbys more recent Obama interview loses badly in the ratings to BORs older interview with Obama.
America loves FNC and has made it the number one news channel. Fair and Balanced.

I read TVNewser but I do not post there. Next time I check the site, I'll have to review the comments sections and try to identify this popular, well-spoken, intellectually stimulating, brilliant, talented, witty, and highly modest commenter you refer to.

Not only all of that Ashley, but Fox News also has the best and the brightest personalities (and Foxes!) representing it. Other networks have that old guy who needs a fan for his excessive flatulence and that transgender person.

I noticed that Newshounds doesn't let the public peak at their traffic via Sitemeter.
Have there been other sources or means that disclose the amount of traffic Newshounds get?

My book doesn't have a chapter in it that says none of their posts has ever been truthful. It does have quite a few chapters about how many of their posts have not been truthful. And of course with scads of footnotes about all the times they stretched the truth, went with half-truths, etc.
> do you care to share what they have claimed their traffic to be?
Why? What good is the word of a serial liar? If their stats could be trusted they'd be public, no? Keeping them private gives them one key opportunity: they can claim they are any number they please. So such information is worthless, and if I do have it somewhere I'm not going to waste time looking for it.

Grossman should have datelined his story as coming from from Fantasyland if he actually thinks GE is going to pay to operate two seperate news departments just to Keith, Chris and Rachel and bloviate to their heart's content. Though anyone who who have the huevos to say this:
And what of MSNBC? With personalities like Olbermann, Matthews and now Rachel Maddow, the network has forged a fantastic programming groove. I don't care what you think about its politics or anything else, there is absolutely no arguing that MSNBC's numbers—be it ratings or profitability—are on fire.
...probably thinks a company whose stock has lost over 50 percent of its value in the past two years really would go out and have two entirely seperate news teams for the mother ship and for cable.

Due to your concern over providing inaccurate data, I attempted to do some research on my own.
I couldn't find quantity of visitors or page views but according to the website Alexa.com, Newshounds has a traffic ranking of 57,272.
In comparison, Johnny Dollar's Place has a traffic ranking of 10,591,935 and TVNewser 6,053,502.

Just as I am interested in seeing how many people tune into television programs, I also it interesting to see how much traffic a blog attracts.
Readers can draw their own conclusions regarding the relative popularity of both programs and blogs from numerical data.

Yes, sheer curiosity.
Last 2 questions for the day which of course you are free not answer.
1. ) Are you controlling whether the number of visitors online in Haloscan appears?
2.) I find it unusual how comments will appear in the "recent comments" section prior to appearing in Haloscan. Is the appearance of comments in that section synchronized with Haloscan or do you have to publish it separately?

That Alexa.com is an intersting site, it shows that FNC.com is stomping MSNBC.com.
CNN is stomping both of them. That's OK, as long as FNC is ahead of the mess NBC network, I'm happy.

I'm not sure I understand your point.
Since MSNBC is a 24hr cable news channel, can't the non-24h news coverage NBC crowd continue getting more face time on MSNBC, while the MSNBC crowd with the--- hair guy---what is his name--- do what they've always done?

Once again, I'm furious at the "lower thirds" people at FNC.
Reporters and photographers are risking their lives trying to get us good pictures of the hurricane ravaged area, yet someone feels the need to further amplify the story by plastering obviously information on the bottom of the screen! If they MUST post something, just post the location of the picture, and make it SMALLER! Why the hell (yes, I'm mad) do they have to use such giant font, and the red "Alert" statement, which is not needed? This very writing typically covers up the most of important part of the picture we're supposed to be viewing!!!!!
Does anyone know who I can write to at Fox, to complain about this? Or does anyone even have an address for Greg Jarrett, Julie Banderas or Jamie Colby, who are on now? Or even Geraldo? He would be p*ssed; he's out there messing up his hair and everything to get us this story, not knowing that what he's talking about is being covered up by unnecessary verbiage over the majority of the bottom of the screen!

Re: The Phoenix.com/Boston op-ed about a KO/MSNBC backlash helping the McCain campaign.
I've been saying that for quite awhile and the Palin pick is just magnifying the phenomonon. I agree with most of what is in the article and would add that in addition to the "common" folks distrust and dislike for much of the media, a primary reason for the backlash is the long, deep held belief in fairness and a palatable distase for those who are patently unfair.
One statement in the article I found laughable is, " And yes again, Olbermann’s self-declared enemy, Fox News, is often every bit as partisan as he is."
Often? I'd like to see ONE example of partisanship by anyone on Fox News that comes within a light year of the hateful tirades against all things R by the dispicable KO.

I can't think of one immediately, they all seem pretty generic, but maybe Missy, Tess, Sharon, Grammie or Wenchie have some favs.
