McCain on O'Reilly --

One of O'Reilly's worst interviews in years. He seemed to be baiting McCain, in hopes the candidate would lose his cool. He didn't.

I kept waiting for McCain to call O'Reilly a jerk. O'Reilly deserved it.

You have to ask the question...Was McCain being a bit economical with the truth over his vote for Bush or non vote (2000)

Seems there's mounting evidence he was.

HSUK-

1- Who cares? What does it mean if he did or didn't vote for GWB in 2000? Who cares?

2- The issue seems to have been cleared up by McCain yesterday, when he said "Yes, I voted for Bush" in 2000. Who you gonna believe... the man himself, or some actors and a partisan blogger trying to score political points?

3- Who cares? I think it bears repeating... because it's such a stupid thing to be talking about.

______________

GrandpaD... totally disagree with you. I thought O'Reilly was soft in the interview, allowing McCain to get away with too much. I like McCain, more so than some other people, because I'm more centrist than some other people. But even I thought he didn't push hard enough.

The only thing the left has gotten to stick (even if only a little bit) is the nonsense about McCain and Hagee... and when it came time to talk about that, I thought O'Reilly allowed him to skate, without pushing harder on the issue. McCain needs to blast that issue out of the water... if he attempts to just shrug it off it will keep coming back to bite him.

Also, when O'Reilly was interviewing... crap, I can't remember her name... but the Democratic strategist after the interview, she gave the "100 years war" BS line TWICE! O'Reilly stopped her each time, but should have gotten more fired up about that being an outright lie.

Overall, I was kinda disappointed. I hope tonight is better.

One more thing, I was surprised by the Kos “outrage.” Before I got my current position, I worked for the “Hotel Networks,” which is a video service for hotel chains. We had 8-10 cable channels, and our job was to play other commercials over the national ones… changing them to hotel sponsored commercials (lots of travel stuff, other hotel commercials, investment things, etc). On that system, we had MSNBC, FOX, and CNBC... and this service was (apparently) picked up by quite a number of hotels nationally.

Oh well… I guess those other hotels, like the rest of America, seems to have “trouble” finding MSNBC on their dials.

I didn't really like the interview either. I, a McCain supporter, didn't really like it. It seemed like he dodged questions or didn't give that great of answers. I'm a moderate, so I shouldn't have that much of a problem with him, but I have so many conservative friends that I'm starting to think about how they'll feel when he says what he does. Tonight, in the second half of the interview, he'll say he wants to close down Guantanamo.
BOR was not soft. He was somewhat hard, but fair. I felt sorry for the camera operator that had to keep panning and tilting left, right, up, or down for McCain who was either leaning forward or sitting up.
When I was in Connecticut two weeks ago, the only channels I watched in my room at the Hampton Inn were ESPN2, where the NFL Draft was on, and FNC, where the tail end of "America's Election HQ," "The Beltway Boys," and "Fox News Watch" were on. Outside of that, I didn't watch much TV.
I have nothing to say about the other links listed so far.

Oreilly: Did you vote for Bush?
McCain: Of course not

McCain's 1st answer was "of course not" then he flip-flopped seconds later...Not very convincing...Obama maybe right when he says McCain is "losing his bearings"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfKcTr8-8cU

I'm more concerned about McCain's involvement with Hagee and his (Hagee) homophobia/anti-Cathol rantings...And of course we can't forget about McCain's Spiritual Guide Rev. Rod Parsley and his vicious anti-Islam rantings.

HuffPo put up an article about this exchange. The headline read "McCain Lies to O'Reilly". Then they had second thoughts and it changed to "McCain Tells O'Reilly". But the URL to the article still uses "lies":

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/05/09/mccain-lies-to-oreilly-sa_n_100978.html

It's interesting how they seize on this and want to immediately call it a lie. I didn't notice them branding the comments on their own site about McCain collaborating with the North Koreans as a "lie". Oh sure they hate McCain but I think they were just eager to put "O'Reilly" and "Lie" in a headline together.

HSUK... are you serious?

Did you even watch the clip you posted? McCain is laughing, and O'Reilly is talking. He says, "Of course not" to the issue of whether or not what Huff&Puff wrote was true. He follows "Of course not" up with, "I campaigned all over the country for him."

I know you've posted here before, so you should realize that the folks around here aren't as gullible as the Newshounds kennel, you linked to. We’ll actually watch the clips… not just blindly accept what you’ve said because, hey, why not? Watch your own clip, for Pete’s sake.

Furthermore, you ignored my question over why this was important. Who cares... what bearings could it possibly have on the current race?

Heck, I think it would probably help, more than hurt, McCain if he didn't vote for GWB in 2000!

And I tie McCain's performance with O'Reilly to what Colmes basically told Hannity last night when they were wrapping H&C: "Sean, you'll need plenty of clothespins for conservatives on election day."

Mike, to get back to your comments up a few, I think you are correct. McCain didn't exactly hit it out of the park with O'Reilly. He wasn't horrible, and I don't think too many people are likely to fall for Think Propaganda's very dubious analysis of that Arianna vote exchange. However, Hillary Clinton came off better in her chat with Mr Bill. Of course we haven't seen part two yet so we have to reserve final judgment.

OK we're starting to obsess a bit over this McCain quote. But it's instructive to see the way Think Propaganda puts up their own version of a transcript that leaves out what McCain said just before 'of course not'. What he says:

McCAIN:What can I say? It's totally false, of course not.

Now with the overtalking, and TP's editing of their transcript, I find that this is a non-story. So watch for it to be a headline on OlbyPlanet tonight!

Okay, I saw the clip. I agree, Johnny. I feel sorry for Tiki Barber having to be on that set, just like I feel sorry for him during the NFL season when he has to be in the vicinity of KO during "Football Night in America."
When I saw "Barnes bounced," I thought we were talking about Fred. But it's Peter Barnes going back to D.C. to be the Senior Washington correspondent. I can't say I'll miss him in NY because I've never watched on FBN, but I'll miss him anyway and wish him the best back home.
One of my recent blog posts is about Cablevision perhaps being closer to getting FBN. But as usual, it's probably wishful thinking. Meanwhile, Olby can continue to revel in the lack of the channel's success even though it's because of the handicap of not being on enough cable outlets.

If you are going to cite O'Reilly as "proof" of your claim, then shouldn't you stick to what he said on Fox News Channel? For example:

"Perhaps Michelle Obama simply misspoke. That happens all the time when you give speeches. But Mrs. Obama said it twice in two different speeches. Now I'm willing, I'm willing to give Mrs. Obama the benefit of the doubt if she wants that benefit.... Again, I don't believe Michelle Obama dislikes her country."

So you want to make O'Reilly your example of "Fox News" calling Michelle Obama "anti-American"?

As for citing Hannity: since when did Hannity become "Fox News"? Or are you saying that Alan Colmes also called her anti-American? Or did Alan Colmes defend her, in which case by your logic then we could say "Fox News" defended Michelle Obama against charges of being anti-American.

But I'm still waiting for the documentation here. Please cite where "Fox News" called her anti-American. I mean, if you can't document it, people will start to think you just made it up.

And through sheer irony, BOR and John talked about the show. The lower third graphic said "'John Ratzeberger's Made in America' airs Wed 9PM on Trav Chan" or something similar. "Good luck with the show," BOR wished John. Yet the show is likely as dead as "He Said, She Said." If only "Factor" viewers knew "Made in America" was likely canceled.

I just commented to tonight's recap at OlbyWatch. Reacting to Oralmann's Worser Person tonight, I said:
"Yes, that's right, Fat Ass. BOR is only reporting on GE's business with Iran, and anything GE or NBC-related, because of you. It's all about you. Keep telling yourself that."

That's understandable. But everyone else is either out for Friday night stuff or asleep.

olby sucks
I'm here! Oh, looky. The newsmongrels are all body language "experts" now. Are they that biased or have they never watched Pelosi talk up close? By this clowns logic, why isn't Pelosi on death row or at least serving life? That woman blinks!

Being in law enforcement we look for blinking in someone's eyes. An increase especially to 92 per minute is a strong indicator that someone is lying not "uncomfortable" and the norm is about 20 per minute not 40

In short, my depressed rant from three hours is just going to go fade into oblivion and not be acknowledged. I guess that's the way it should be. It isn't my site and nothing I said had to do with cable news.

Okay, and I meant "three hours ago." I'm making error after error here and at OlbyWatch.
