What a trash piece of "journalism" that attack dog link is. I posted a comment there indicating the writer's bias. They seem to believe the "Outfoxed" was seen by more than 12 people and that MSNBC's numbers match FNC's and mention 25-54. I call shenanigans!

Tony Snow was truly a remarkable man when you consider the back and forth between MSNBC and FOXNEWS on air rivals. David Gregory and Bill O'Reilly found common ground in tributes to this man. Rather rare these days and a welcomed break from the negative stuff.

I was intrigued by the following article:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/07/the_rapid_decline_of_the_new_y.html

I knew that the New York Times is declining, but I had no idea that it is in this much trouble.

I think this decline and possible death of NYT as we now know it could be significant for the news industry.

I have looked upon the mainstream media )(including to some extent CNN and MSN BC) as being like a group of pack dogs who go after exactly the same stories in the same way. I have always thought that the NYT is the lead dog of the pack . . . that the NYT chooses stories and an approach to stories and the rest of the pack follows,

If you take out the lead dog, and if New York (where the news industry is headquartered) becomes dominated by papers owned by Murdock . . . I wonder what the impact of this will be on the news industry in general and on cable new specifically,

It's Murdoch. Sorry, I'm a stickler. Don't take offense.
Re: "hi-def scam?": I agree that the dead-bar area should not be used for advertising, but I don't have the same problem as Cap'n Ken when it comes to paying for HD. As much as I've criticized Cablevision, HD is free with them. I think the same goes for all cable providers, right?

J$ I'm surprised to see you use these tabloid sort of headlines....These good people are angry at the great harm FN has done to the media in the U.S...That's why they were booing.

But they should have been cheering because Fox News had had an extremely salutary effect on the media. This says more about the crowd and the mentality of the people at the Netroots convention than it does about Fox.

Actually what it says is what boors these people are, that they have to heckle and jeer and boo someone as respected as Harold Ford Jr because he used to work at Fox News. "Fox haters", far from being tabloid, is accurate, and if anything euphemistic.

HF,

Maybe maybe not. More democrats watch Fox than any of the other networks. Fox's rep seems to be gaining while mainstream media including network news and NYT (which is about to die) are waining.

I already knew Alisyn was moving back to "F&F Weekend." I learned this Monday. I think it's just what the weekend show needs, no offense to Ainsley.
Updating something I brought up Tuesday, a comment that I posted on Alisyn's blog this afternoon was added. So, things are finally back to normal after I felt displaced and banned by the Fox News blogs.

I think the best sentence of all the links today was in the Comcast conspiracy contradicted one (emphasis added):

"In the TV world, nothing speaks louder than the almighty dollar."

Mike C. and HF, Comcast charges me $10/mo for HD and DVR. It's the best $10 I spend each month. And those bars on the sides indicate that it's not true HD- it's low definition recorded 4:3 aspect ratio with interpolated pixelation, which converts it to a "fake" HD that requires screen filler to occupy the additional real estate of true HD's 16:9 aspect ratio.

I hope Olbermann gets number one, for Friday numbers, because The Factor put on the sub, who was defeated by the Great Rachel Maddow.

I hope Rachel Maddow leaves the nasty, mismanaged, Air America network, and go to MSNBC.

This will also make room on the "new" XM Left, because the lineup is [censored]ed up right now.

David Brock who is the founder of Media Matters has confessed to being a liar and a smear merchant. I take absolutely nothing he says or his organization says very seriously.

Certainly, Brock is in no position to criticize Fox News . . . or any other news organization for that matter. I give Weekly World News more credibility than I give to Brock or Media Matters.

2. Couldn't agree with you more about AA but couldn't care less about Maddow

This is another reason why moderation is bad. I wrote 'last' instead of 'new' due to a rewording of the sentence. Now, I have to wait minutes for my correction to go through and it will already be forgotten, questioned, or corrected and my correction will be irrelevant.

I'll go with the flow: For all I know, HD is only free with Cablevision and Time Warner. I don't know about Bright House Networks, Cox, etc. I'm sorry you guys don't get it for free on Comcast.
I have yet to watch the Tony Snow funeral video link, but I did a search on the FOXNews.com video page for "Tony Snow" and got many videos, including his last FNC appearances on "The Factor," "America's Election HQ," and "F&F." Then, came the videos from Saturday through today.

E.D. Hill calling the fist bump a "terrorist bump" lost her credibility (and apparently her show) but Olbermann calling the entire Republican Party "terrorists" is no big deal. I.e., what happened to Olbermann?

Nothing.

Such is the status of the shifting standards of the American news media circa 2008.

I think bcasts is a little long. I have never seen a news show before where the two host are constantly manipulating their laptops. It's unique, and it's an interesting idea.

Elsewhere . . . I notice that Ellen Brodsky is attending the netroots convention. Whenever she makes a fool of herself and/or says something particularly stupid about cable news, I hope this site will keep me informed.
