Why does Rachel Maddow look more and more like Michael Moore? Maybe it's the glasses and boyish face, but...eww.

Re: today's outrage, CNN showed a rat on a levee while interviewing Obama yesterday? The real outrage is that CNN is covering anything they can but the RNC.

Q: If Gustav hit on the opening day of the DNC, would all of the reporters jump ship from the hundreds of millions of dollars of glam, glitter, and celebrities?

A: No. TV channels would have sent their expendable reporters while the best ones stayed to fawn over Obama.

NBC NEWS legitimizing a radical, hate filled websites is yet another piece of evidence that shows the dangerous track our country is on regarding its politics and governance.

Rachel Maddow as a liberal commentator is okay, but she is not the Next Big Thing. She seems to be playing the game and compromising as much as anybody, but the liberal blogs seem to be giving her a pass because of her orientation. Nor is her commentary particularly startling, except for the one moment when she told Pat Buchanan how his convention speech affected her. Even that she could have done better.

FF:

I suspect you may be correct about the DNC and coverage, but the DNC promised to be THE source of energy and interest. When the much expected Clinton obstinancy, the PUMA factor, the riots in the street did not materialize, the media was more than a bit disappointed. Knowing about the DNC what it knows now, the media might have been out storm-chasing. as well.

The RNC promised to be singularly dull. Palin, of course, shook that up a bit, as did the protesters. Even so, the storm was more graphic, more exciting, for a Labor Day weekend.

The networks had a difficult call to make, and I tend to think they could still have been a bit more balanced. Of course, had they devoted much manpower to St. Paul, it would have been a dull and dreary day, wouldn't it?

...

Interloper, one of the draws to Maddow by moderates, progressives and liberals is the breadth and depth of her knowledge, and her ability to summon it instantaneously. I think it has very little to do with orientation.

The "outrage" is pretty hilarious. It was clearly the wrong video... and that's why it was dumped out of so quickly.

However, there are two fundamental points that this guy misses:

1- Those old "Coke" and popcorn "subliminal messages" didn't work. And more importantly, there is no evidence that they do work.
(See: http://www.snopes.com/business/hidden/popcorn.asp)

2- If you could see it, and know that it was there (as he obviously could), it's not a "subliminal message." "Subliminal messages" require the viewer to not be aware of what they've seen/heard. This was clearly not that.

Now these should be of little consolation to us, because already believes CNN was attempting to make a statement here... he's clearly already off his rocker. But, I thought it was worth pointing out.

Perhaps I'll tell him... subliminally.

Wow... MSNBC has given to Tucker the job John Gibson once had: to sub for Olbermann and protect him from talking about things he doesn't want to talk about and from being around people he doesn't wish to be around.

Now Keith can stay in New York and do Countdown till 2am -- interviewing other journalists and Democratic pols, rather than actually doing something that pertains to his job title!

As always with MSNBC-- It's all about the O!

I saw Chucky T's program during the hour, and MSNBC is advertising coverage by Matthews and Gregory, not Matthews and Carlson. I think Carlson got himself into more than a bit of trouble with the powers at MSNBC, understandably.

I really don't like Joe Scarborough, I think he should go to FOX News, so come on John Gibson, rescue him already!!!

Gawd I hate Page Six, I can't trust them, I think they are just Psychopathic Party Hacks.

And Rachel Maddow, please leave Air America, you don't belong there, take Mike Malloy's advice and leave, besides, Mike Malloy says, Air America still owes him money.

AND STOP MAKING FUN OF RACHEL MADDOW, PEOPLE!!!

And I'm one of the few that doesn't make fun of Dr. Maddow. I called her St. Rachel of Madcow in an OlbyWatch recap, but have not ridiculed her overt lesbianism. I'm tolerant of the LGBT community.

Uh, isn't that what all of these commentators do? Isn't that what keeps people who don't know about news and politics out of camera range? (I know, many jokes/respones/insert unfavorite anchor here.) Sorry, I stand by that she aint that special and does not deserve the fawning attention some have given her. Maybe she will in time.

My personal favorite from the l'il feller was some time ago, he made some nonsensical post about Roger Ailes and was ignored so he posted the question (something like) "how come no one responded to my Ailes post?"

By "breadth and depth of her knowledge," I meant not only politics, but literature, history, psychology, international affairs. In my view, few pundits out there have that. Sure, they can Google, but Rachel is her own search engine and data base.

Mark,

I have heard it argued that she can effectively reduce issues to key understandable points, and that is to her favor. However, what I am saying is that she is overrated so far and that may change down the road as she gets better. I expect a commentator to have some base of knowledge outside of politics, just by virtue of being an educated person. While intl affairs or history certainly helps her or him do their job, I really don't care if they can quote authors I never read or care about because they are literature majors in college. I remember Dennis Miller being like that on Monday Night Football, and it did not really work, did it?

There is no upside to meeting the Billdo, and plenty of downside by meeting the Billdo.

If I remember correctly, you said "nothing good will come from it." Change of heart?m Also, how can you say my post was negative when I posted your partner in crimes post:?:

My opinion, there was a back room deal made. O'reilly knows his ratings will be massive, obama knows this, too. obama gets the questions in advance and chooses which to answer. This deal has been in negotiations for a while. Why can't someone like Savage or Levin get the gig? That's pay per view material. :+:

One more thing. I hope I'm completely wrong about the obama interview. I hope O'Reilly nails him to the wall, but, after the Saddleback set back, I don't see obamas handlers putting him in a vulnerable position, again.
