'Did He Just Come Out?'

J$P Video! Red Eye skewers media tea party coverage:

From Red Eye, April 16 2009 (Preview: Thursday's Gregalogue!)

Cecelia
I wish Greg would do some fence mending with the Canadian government over the brouhaha he had with them recently.

It could be a piece that gives credit to our "neighbors to the north" for NOT issuing bulletins about their troops being potential rightwing terrorists!

A lovely designation that our govt has so steadfastly avoided in placing on certain ethnic and religious groups here.

Was Andy Levy joking or serious when he said that the protestors were forced to move from the White House after a tea bag was thrown over the fence?

What happened when Kerry threw his medals, or someone else's medals or fake medals over the White House fence back in the seventies? If he had been removed I would think it would be part of the story today especially with his prominence in recent years..

Sir Corky
Andy was not joking. The movement in D.C. was also apparently put on hold when the police realized that the protesters did not have the appropriate permits, which is a valid reason, but could you imagine if war protesters were shunned from the grounds of D.C. for any reason?

Wow. Jim Norton coming up huge in that segment. He's exactly right, why the hell is a "reporter" arguing with someone protesting debt and high taxes? Why exactly is the "reporter" offended by that?

Oh, and Andy asking if Anderson Cooper's "tebag" comment was him coming out the closet... classic.

Loathe as I am to engage in rumor mongering, my sons girlfriend just returned from 4 years at NYU where apparently it is common knowledge that Anderson Cooper is a closeted gay. So when he talks about the difficulting of talking while teabagging, he knows of wha he speaks. As a side note, I always thought that "teabagging" was a disgusting hazing type thing. There appears to be a different and more sexual connotation as well.

The only journalism that has been coming out of fox in regards to the whole silly tea bag protest, seems to have come from Shepard Smith, who demonstrated the folly of the right-wing's shrieking over the DHS alert, and the claim that the tea baggers were being targeted.

The only "folly" to be found in the DHS alert is in trying to make it a partisan issue.

The alert is not a creation of the Obama Administration, although the timing of its release was interesting.

What the alert does highlight is the fact that the gov. felt comfortable in profiling its own troops (as well as implications about people holding certain religious dictates concerning abortion) in the way it would have not have felt about issuing overt statements profiling Muslims or people of middle eastern origins.

You may think so, but the person of this nationality doesn't understand. Why would Canadians be worried by either right or left wing terrorists? These are American terms, how do they effect/pertain to Canadians or Canadian troops?

I listened to Mr. Gutfeld's video and the best advice I heard was "Let’s get it out of the gutter”. Innuendos where no innuendos were uttered or probably intended. You truly find this funny? Personally I find it rather sick.

Especially when it comes to sexual innuendos, it's a good thing this show is on a what 3am? It certainly isn't family viewing.

Sir Corker, I just heard a segment on Rush addressing the incident.

It seems the Secret Service removed everyone from the area including shooing the members of the so called press b/c it was not obvious what could have been in the package. Then they used a robotic deveice to that confirmed it was not dangerous and everyone was allowed back.

When I first heard the story I didn't think of it in that light.

I4tr, I woud assume that rightwing groups such as neo-nazis or xenophobic groups would know no borders, unless you're suggesting that rightwing groups only means those who are members of American's Republican Party.

The same with leftwing groups having to do with ant-capitalism or extreme environmentalism.

Do you truly not get that I was making a criticism of my govt., not yours?

David Shuster played at 8PM on my cable system this past Monday and Rachel Maddow was on at 9PM talking about tea bagging with the beauty, Ana Marie Cox(for a second time)....So please....MSNBC has nothing on FNC for inappropriate humor but, unlike FNC, MSNBC also had the bonus of demeaning hundreds of thousands of American's heart-felt beliefs about the direction the country is heading.

At least RED EYE's goal is humor while COUNTDOWN and Maddow's show is supposed to be serious and informative.

She not only got into an argument, she started that argument. We have a couple of reasons to thank her.

First, she'll drive some viewers to FNC.

Second, she'll grab some of the left leaning viewers from MSNBC and give them to CNN.

End result - FNC ratings up while MSNBC/CNN fight over crumbs.

Run by Fox? Nope. Did they glom on, and provide coverage? Yes, but they didn't plan them, didn't organize them, or pay any of the expenses. As for the turn out, I know their numbers are way low. They were saying last nite that there were 15-20,000 in ATL, I was there, and it was packed out for 5 BLOCKS. Did it get bigger because Hannity and Boortz and all were there, sure, but they didn't make them.

Illinois is commonly known as the Land of Lincoln. They used to have it on their license plates, but I don't think they do anymore. I'm assuming that's what she meant.

What horrible unprofessionalism. I like how she throws in his face, "Are you aware you're eligible for a $400 tax credit?"

$400? $400?! When my personal share of the national debt is almost $37,000 and climbing, and you want me to get excited about $400? Yes, clearly I've got my priorities mixed up and I thank you for clearing things up for me.

I am sorry, but is this sort of thing that turns you Yanks on? According to the census bureau clock that means that you only have 299,651,488 more Americans to convert to all your networks combined. Who cares?
