'Full of Innuendos, Misstatements, Lies!'

J$P Video! Jerome Corsi (Obama Nation) vs Bob Beckel:

From Fox & Friends, August 5 2008

Ashley
From the Bassets: "(Beckel) told viewers that most of Corsi's footnotes were attributable to right-wing ideologues"

Wow, the hounds are actually reporting Beckel figuratively comparing Corsi to K"C"O whose newscast is attributable to left-wing ideologues.

What I found surprising was not the sewage spewing from Corsi's foul mouth. I have seen, heard and smelled that before. Gretchen actually made some pretense of being fair and balanced. Maybe, she was just concerned about reeking from her presence near Corsi, but I was proud of her for a change.

Gretchen actually looked uneasy listening to the nonsense spewing from Corsi....Unlike Hannity who just drank it up on H-America...Beckel did an excellent job showing the man for what he is.
You had to laugh when Corsi said that all the Beckel quotes were old and in the past...He had apologised so they just disappeared like a puff of smoke.

It's hysterical. Where FNC had Bob Beckel on to counter the author of an anti-Obama book, and we STILL here about FNC not being fair and balanced.

Whenever the other cable nets have an anti-Bush or comparable anti -something GOP-friendly author on, there typically is no counter from the right on.

This interview is yet one more example in a light-years long chain of examples that FNC is THE fair and balanced network, and no other cable news channel, or network news organization even comes close to qualifying as being fair and balanced.

I do NOT think that MSNBC is fair and balanced, but I do believe CNN is. It is rather the standard in the industry, isn't it?

CNN International is also excellent.

I get the BBC World Report on cable, but I don't guess that is technically a cable news channel. It, with PBS and NPR (decidedly not cable news) are my preferred non-print news sources. They are all so balanced, I sometimes wish they would be a bit unbalanced to break up the monotony.

Of course, this is all largely a matter of taste and disposition. I think it is fine to hold FNC to be fair and balanced, if you are rational. You seem to be, Ashley.

Since you like to point out one person makes a network not fair and balanced, as you did above, then perhaps you can explain JAck Cafferty.

CNN is certainly an improvement over MSNBC, but their panels typically include 3 or 4 dems against 1 repub. On second thought, that actually is fair, so you may be right.

I disagree with CNN as being the Standard. FNC, the most watched cable news network in the US, with the highest ratings, and apparently the the news channel of choice by both democrats and republicans, is the standard. That's my opinion, I could be wrong, but I usually am not.

It's probably a youtube glitch. The video seems to play fine for me. Internet congestion perhaps. If you try again in a few minutes it might play just fine.

Another trick is to start playing it then pause. Then allow some time for the video to continue loading before you start it up again.

The clip is messing up (forgive the technical jargon) on me, too. The audio keeps running, but the video stops. Then the video restarts from the beginning with the audio. Then, I have two out-of-synch audio tracks running. I find this out, as it is the Feast of St. Abel, yet I am unable to enjoy the link.
---
BTW: I don't think anyone was critcizing FNC for running the A380 link. It was a comment, perhaps a bit of struting by our EU friend since Airbus got the A380 airborne well before Boeing got its 787 up. The A380 is most assuredly news, and it's a wonderful, graceful, mammoth. I watche the Emirates's landing at JFK on MSNBC. This was good, happy news.

I watched that exchange between Bob Beckel and Jerome Corsi and basically it was a dud.

Brian and Gretchen asked Corsi questions about the content of his book, and for about a minute Beckel and Corsi actually debated some of that, but then Beckel started deflecting by bringing up past pejorative statements made by Corsi, about several Dem pols.

Some of the statements were very nasty and certainly paint Corsi as a very partisan partisan...but it would have been nice to have heard some of the allegations and Beckel's responses.

I understand that there may be a strategy here by Beckel. It is hard to discuss anything in the limited amount of time given on these shows, and if you don't want people to buy the book because they hear something that arouses their curiousity, immediately going for marginalizing the author could stop that.

It was a pretty pointless interview over all, and some of the tactics remind me of those you see on blog sites by trolls.

I think anyone who truly enjoys discussion and ideas, would absolutely make a terrible operative or troll.

This is, I am confident, the most important point made on the site - ever. All of the cable news outlets are guilty of this. An interesting topic. An important topic. Plenty of time to devote to the topic. But, it is done as if it were a soundbite. Then, off to something completely inconsequential or some topic that has been beaten to death already. The closest I have come to seeing good, full coverage of a topic is Zakaria's GPS on CNN. I am sure to many people it can be tedious. But, the time to develop and to explore an idea is wondrous. And, all of cable television has so much time. It is almost a waste.

Thank you very much for this post.

Was the issue sexual performance or the lack thereof? I might agree with you, Nixon, if it were. I think the issue was deliberate lies about people who do not share the author's party affiliation and ideology in a published work. Even if Beckel were in bed with a hooker, wearing an Apache headress, eating Little Debbie cakes and reading from the disgusting text, I'm not sure his criticism would be any less valid.

I may concede your point with Morris. His escapade was just a bit icky, and not even all that icky. His demeanor is icky too, that kind of flabby groveling he so favors, but that doesn't go to credibility, does it? So, when my wife leaves the room because the "fat freak" is about to bloviate, I'll just zone out until I notice his jowls stop vibrating and read his column the next morning. In other words, content, OK, not presence and demeanor.

Actually, Morris often has much to offer. Unusual, but valuable insights. And, although he is incorrect in his analysis about twice as much as most commentators/pundits, he's still correct two times more often than Kristol.

However, as to O'Reilly, you paint with far, far too broad a brush. Falafel Falls Chronicles was not an incident of two consensual adults, was it? It was a power play that traumatized and victimized a woman, threatened her professional, financial and personal well-being. Demeaned and demoralized her. Showed and appallingly low view of women in general. I'm not as willing to dismiss this as some frolicky foible of the "boys will be boys" variety. That goes right to the heart of credibility. So, yes, anything short of a full blown confession and an act of extreme contrition from O'Reilly, is far less than valid.

Plus, and this is a failing on my part, I am sure, batteries and human sexuality, concurrently, blow right past the icky stage into completely gross for me.

I'll give you Morris, and you may have your way with him, but O'Reilly needs to stay in his sordid little box.

Contextually, when it comes to O'Reilly, I think these words from the former LDS President are "words to live by":

There are some men who, in a spirit of arrogance, think they are superior to women. They do not seem to realize that they would not exist but for the mother who gave them birth. When they assert their superiority they demean her.

I don't find a man who demeans his mother credible, under any circumstances. Everything he utters is trash.

I disagree with you, Jeff. I don't think O'Reilly was correct in harassing the woman just because she was White. My wife, daughter, mother and sisters are all White, and I am offended by your comment.

Nothing like attacking the messenger. Were you offended when obama said it? I doubt it.

Man, alot of assumptions and theory posing as fact.

The real fact is that you don't know what O'Reilly and this woman did or did not do. But what you wrote is interesting, that it is not correct to harass someone because of their skin color. Are you thinking that there are some correct reasons to harass anyone?

I trust you realize exactly what I am doing, Ashley, and a perhaps taking a bit of amusement from it. But, Mum's the word. Put it under your arm.

My 7:44 is not an attack. It's an observation or analogy, if you will.
