Perhaps if Gibson had shut up long enough for the woman to get more than two words out, she may have said that the oath taken by soldiers and senators to uphold the Constitution was broken by McCain when he sponsored McCain-Feingold? Maybe?

Many prominent legal minds believe McCain-Feingold is blatantly unconstitutional. I seem to remember reading several stories at the time it was signed by Bush that it was only a matter of time before it was over turned on constitutional grounds, and that Bush signed it only for political gain knowing it would never pass Supreme Court review.

Which means he broke his oath, too.

But I guess the joke was on the rest of us instead.

I agree with you, Jaynie, about Gibson not being able to shut up, but the rest of your points are rather daft, indeed. Legislation is generally presumed to be Constitutional and unless and until the Supreme Court declares McCain-Feingold to be otherwise, I hardly think we need bother discussing oath violations.

That's why they're called amendments. They make changes to the constitution, deeming their proposals legal by the vote of the majority.

If you require further explanation, you shouldn't be on this site.

Why would anyone amend the Constitution to enact legislation which is presumed to be Constitutional? I do believe you have rather turned the entire process on its head.

The constitution is perfect in its original form OTM?

I suggest you bring that up with the next black person you meet.

You are obviously laboring to be obtuse, Fox Fan. There are times it is appropriate and necessary to amend the Constitution. In the question at hand (not your red herring), that is not the case. I strongly suggest you labor to understand the distinctions between legislation and Constitutional amendment. Such an understanding would serve you and this board well.

John McCain isn't even a centrist Republican. The centrist Republicans are the ones from the northeast (minus New Hampshire. Sununu and Gregg are conservative Republicans).

Specter, Snowe, Collins, Chafee (until recently), Jeffords was one, Voinovich has tendencies.

Calling McCain just another liberal Democrat is stoopid. Thanks for pointing out another stoopid Fox guest.
