I really enjoyed the article about MTM. I have always admired her tremendously for how she handled Type 1 diabetes. It is truly a terrible disease and so many suffer, and I do mean suffer, from all types of it.

I agree with her on Charles Krauthammer. Hi is tops in my book and I am so glad he frequently appears on both Brit and now Bret's show.

WOW! Johnny. You have 18 pages dedicated to you over at the Mutt House. Maybe you should be getting royalties.

What the hell are they afraid of over there? Once in awhile would be fine but they have taken it to a new level. Especially their vile and vicious comments.

"What the hell are they afraid of over there?"

Truth.

Johnny Dollar did the right thing and never waivered in his logical argument regarding Bill O'Reilly's easily understood stand regarding sex crimes, the victims and the predators.

That link on the right side of the page also irritates them.

Pegleg Peggy's vitriol yesterday illustrates the situation well. I appreciate her personal testimony regarding the victims of sex crimes, but the unfounded personal attacks on Mr. O'Reilly cannot be justified simply on that alone. Claiming he "blames victims," is a wrong conclusion based on the evidence and the fact that in the very room he spoke Thrusday, rape victims, their families, friends and supporters gladly accepted his help in raising money for their worthwhile charity. That support speaks volumes for Mr. O'Reilly's ACTIONS no matter how one interpreted the closely edited quotes Olbermann and his ilk throw around to try to besmerch him.

Personal animosity, based on political ideology, drove the Fox haters
like Olbermann and Pegleg Peggy to pursue a bad path. They should drop it and move on to the next strawman....Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, or Ingraham are always at the ready to feed the need.

You may report what you like, where you like. You may well find it more accommodating over there than here. None of those pesky restrictions on name calling, vulgarities flow like the Niagra Falls, and nobody held to any standard of accuracy. (In other words, they welcome posts that are knowingly, deliberately inaccurate but only intended to 'stir the pot'.)

Enjoy yourself.

"Yes, So what? He is a liar, and stands up for a news organization that lies about liberals. We are calling him out, and if that means we get somewhat vulgar and distasteful, than so be it, as long as we get the point across.

I see that Olbermann has gone off on a rant about Brit Hume and the Media Research Center.

Hume accepted an award from MRC and thanked them. Now Olby and the other left wingnuts are screaming that he admitted!!!! that he gets his "talking points" from MRC.

Olby and the lefties don't have a clue on the matter, anytime Hume covered a topic from MRC, he would acknowledge on air that the source was MRC.

They would know that if they actually watched the show.

Now, why aren't the lefties whining about Olbermann getting his talking points from Media Matters?? Well we know the answer to that, one word, starts with an H.

Kibbles! Since I have known about it for years since Hume has been quite open about it, why should I be outraged about it now? Why should I even be outraged??? I'm not outraged that KO uses Media Matters.

As for you, you are outraged over Hume, yet you completely dismiss Olbermann. PLUS....you refer to my comment about Olbermann/MM as a "claim".

Let's recap:

1) Brit Hume has been publically acknowledging MRC in his news reports for years, and Haggis just now finds out about it.

2) Olbermann uses media matters in his show for years, and Haggis doesn't know about it.

3) Although I have never expressed outrage that KO gets "talking points" from Media Matters, Haggis thinks I should get outraged! over Hume/MRC.

4) Haggis is outraged over Hume, but will never EVER say anything remotely negative about Olbermann.

I'll take that as your declining to argue that what Hume reported was factually incorrect.

Are you equally upset that Hume has also used reports from Huffington Post? That must mean his reports are 'inevitably going to lean heavy left', no? I find it strange that you object to him reporting true information from MRC, but are silent when he cites Huffington Post or other lefty sites. Because Haggis believes the truth of the information is irrelevant; the only important thing is who reported it.

Is this another example of Hagpocrisy?

You compare a simple slip of the tongue to a entire segment of ridicule and insult, aimed at one of your major allies, in Afghanistan, and supposedly closest fiends?

If this is Fox New's answer to the Daily Show, well lets just say they have a lot of work to do.

If they truly wanted to make inroads into the Canadian Media Market, they just sealed their fate. I doubt even Conservative Canadians will praise that particular effort! Speaking as one of the 64% of the population that are not Conservatives......Fox News sucks, big time!

And......I'd happily back a pull out of our troops, like yesterday, if not sooner. You don't seem to need or appreciate your sacrifice!

But please show me more of Hume's HuffPost love-ins ...Lets hope the numbers are equal to the number of time he has used MRC.

Seth MacFarlane was on "Countdown" last night. Why? Well, here's tomorrow's episode of "Family Guy":
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FOX-y_Lady
"Lois lands a job as a news reporter for FOX News. Her first assignment is to shoot an investigative exposé on a Michael Moore, but when her story implicates a conservative radio host she gets fired. Meanwhile, Peter & Chris propose a cartoon idea to FOX."

With that, I'm no longer a fan of "Family Guy." I may stick with "American Dad!," but I'm unsure at the moment. That show has been tamer than, and not as ideological as, FG.

His tedious daily "gotcha!" points have actually made me miss the days of Clucker's broader attacks on the "regrettable" character of FNC hosts, that invariably culiminated in some knock on the show's "production values".

".....strict standards.....?"-1 fort hero ad

Standards-criteria established by an authority, often used to measure quality or to set the minimum level of acceptability

Establishing standards, or guidelines, is a helpful tool for anyone who wishes to be accepted in a community.

Speaking only for myself, I suggest that if you consider honesty and decency, while not straying too far afield from the designated paramaters, to be "strict," a study of the archives might be enlightening.

So, let's see if I have this straight. Today, at 2:22 Haggis states "As he told me yesterday...I had to prove FNC didn't know about the apology...I'm just claiming the same right here."

Johnny asked Haggis to prove "FNC didn't know about the apology"???

Let's roll the tape (as J$ would say)...

They knew already? Prove it. Since the earliest online article I can find about the apology is timestamped 8:57 am I want your documentation that somehow they all knew about it three hours earlier.
johnny dollar | Homepage | 03.20.09 - 10:57 am | #

and....

Fine, you've demonstrated that GMA knew about it. You have yet to demonstrate that F&F 'knew full well about it', given that they weren't watching GMA and it wasn't reported elsewhere until long after they discussed the subject. So please back up your statement or take it back and admit your error.
johnny dollar | Homepage | 03.20.09 - 2:12 pm | #

and....

Now you've proved that Scarborough knew about it. But I'm still waiting for you to demonstrate that F&F (or maybe now you've whittled it down to just Doocy) knew about it at the time they discussed it. Really, no more diversions. Make the next response your final argument.

Apparently l'il feller hates people who did not enlist or did not serve in our military. Let's take a look at our last six presidents. 4 served in our armed forces and 2 refused to serve in our military. I bet the l'il feller hates them too!

Fox haters??? Then you had better add that 64% of Canadians I spoke of earlier.......because Fox won't make any friends in Canada airing that sort of tripe!

Based on what I read, on this site a few weeks ago. Fox would like to make progress on the Canadian Media front.

Great way to go about it, slap them right across the face and minimize their contribution to the war in Afghanistan.

Our war dead thank you!, and those that want Canadian troops out yesterday thank you. They commend the work Fox News is doing and hope the clip will go viral over at u-tube.........that will just make their day.

PS: What makes Jonathan an expert in any of this? His Hedge Fund not doing to well these days? lol

Just deleting something tells the hard drive it can overwrite that part....but it's still actually there and anyone can find it....Like OS deep undercover.

If you securely delete something....that part of the hard drive will be written over in my case 7 times....Making it extra difficult for someone to manage to find what was there. You can go up to 35 passes Gutmann level....very slow to do.

Someone more technical can probably explain this better

The Canadian Military is pulling out of Afghanistan in 2011, because the Canadian people want them too.

This Conservative Government would like them to stay, but even they - in their arrogance - realize that they have no choice but to comply with the will of the people....

Please provide an article that supports the comments made about the Canadian Military, that this Fox 'Comedy' Show relies on, because I can find NO recent comments by Lieutenant-General Andrew Leslie, Chief of the Land Staff what-so-ever! The last time he is quoted in the G&M is last December.

The Armed Forces of Canada are among the best trained, most dedicated, bravest and finest military organazations in the world.

Their efforts in Afghanistan have been nothing less than exemplary.

Military humor is an old and cherished tradition.

Ridiculing, for a few laughs, members of the armed forces, whether US or our allies and brothers in arms, especially at a time they are far, far from home, in a harsh land, suffering and dying, is worthy of contemp by all, regardless of political preferance or home country.

IMO, a full, sincere apology is in order.

I am not sure I care for your condescension.

If it's about Canada and the Canadian Military, it would be in the Globe and Mail. But if you insist, no it isn't in Google either.

So where exactly did this bunch of jokers get the material for their comedy routine???

Or because it's comedy, it doesn't have to have any basis in fact?

The only article I can find that is remotely recent is this one the Vanguard online site:

"Mission tested: Preparing the Army for 2021"

So I think Canadians will be waiting for an apology - comedy show or NOT.

It's not condescension. This site doesn't exist for people to run over here, make a bunch of accusations, and then tell me to spend my time digging up something they are unwilling to bother with themselves. This isn't my job, and I don't drop everything the minute someone wants some ought-to-be-elementary research done for them. That goes double when the someone is off at another site attacking and smearing me.

"Nevertheless, there is no doubt that we will always be prepared to carry out our various national and international tasks."

It also points out quite clearly that Canada is already committed to depart Afghanistan in 2011 - it has noting to do with equipment. Procurement of which Lt.-Gen. Leslie said he is NOT an expert on.

"Lt.-Gen. Leslie said that, while he's not expert on military procurement, "It's very tough to fight a war with peacetime process."

"The tanks are crucial to the Afghan mission, which is illustrated by the fact that the crew of one Leopard survived"

My brother works in said Procurement Department and if his overtime is any proof.....our military will have all the equipment it needs.

Lastly, I put about as much faith in the Post as I would in Fox. Political maneuvering, rather than hard cold news. Although it might be titillating, I would still fact check with the G&M!

Vstol, I must say that I disagree with you on this subject for two reasons.

First, Gutfield read over the entire segment about 3/4 of the aticle verbatim, which meant the news reporting aspect was dead right.

I disagree who they were poking fun at. I didn't think they referred in any way to the actual forces. I thought when I first heard it (last night) and again today that they were poking fun at whatever is Canada's DoD and the politicians who have structured and supervise their defense policy and branches of the military.

I thought and still think it was hysterical. Exactly what do you have a military for if after it actually serves its purpose for a few years the whole damn shebang has to take a sabatical to recover and regroup. I thought the group did a superb job at wringing every satirical laugh out of thar.that.

They did throw in a little stcick about Mounties, horses and red coats. But I think it would be reaching to call that degrading to the men and women who actually serve.

The Canadians were brave, staunch and loyal allies during WWII. Although I don't know much about their military I am surprised that a first world advanced country would so woefully neglect the prime purpose of any government, defending the country.

As far as the self righteous indignation I haven't noticed the Canadian Press being shy about derogatory and insulting remarks about us and our officials. What makes them so sacrosanct?

Many first world countries have skimped on their defense budgets b/c they have confidence that the US will protect and then go home, giving them their country back, when the danger has passed. I would be shocked if sharing a border only with the US this is not a very large factor in their overall military planning and structure.

How does my argument strike you?

Glad, very glad to see that the Alexa Fund raiser was a success, despite the hounds efforts to prevent the fund raiser from happening. I just checked out their blog again, and there it is, the homosexual slurs against men and women, the vulgarities against everyone they hate, and the "depends" slurs against those they perceive to be elderly.

The same people who claim to be "tolerant" and "progressive", are many things, but not that.

And the l'il feller, still lacking critical thinking skills yet honing his stalker skills, edits his posts a bunch of times and still has dozens of typos (not counting the slurs and vulgarities of course). But he still has the hatred for those who did not serve, I'm still looking for his rage against Bill Clinton, John Edwards, and Barack Obama. In his 3:25 post, L'il feller is quite clear, there are two choices, serving or turning tail. You see, he has trouble with anything gray.

Seems to me that with the Canadian Troops going to pull out of Afghanistan just as things are heating up may be an indication that they are not comfortable with dealing with our current CinC. Apparently, they had no problems with our previous CinC.

But I certainly thank Canada and its wonderful citizenry for their sacrifices and efforts in the WOT. They are good people. Watching the Gutfield vid, it's obvious that there is no insult against Canada and its citizens. At least, it's obvious to the rational thinkers among us.

Onefortheroad, I suggest you start early. Kick back, have a few, relax and then the conversation might go smoother.

As for the history of WWII I was not commenting on the entrance of different countries for various reasons. I personally think FDR and our country should have been in it long before Pearl Harbor. It was D Day before the US combat troops in Europe equaled and then exceeded England's, a much smaller country.

And yes, you were after all part of the Empire and went to war with the Brits on day one.

That does not change the fact that your military has been strained by its committment and announced what is in effect a sabatical. That does not denigrate your soldiers or any soldiers. But for me it raises some serious questions about the folks running the show and the political landscape that tolerates the situation.

It, not your military men and women, made for some good comedy.

You think it's false indignation, well I guess you are entitled to your opinion but I wouldn't come to Canada with it.

Here is just one comment from a Canadian blog about this particular Fox segment:

"Holy f**k, that’s such a load of s**t. The worst part if it is, I’m sure some people will completely agree with what they’re saying, and think they’re like OMG totally hilarious. F**k. All I want to do is send this to my father, who just spent 6 months serving overseas (and is going into retirement because of it).

Is there any contact information we can get a hold of to start a massive scathing letter campaign? because these f**kwads need a hit of reality (although ideally in the form of a brick to the face, but letters will have to do)"

And you think I am being falsely indignant .........dream on. Just as Fox News can dream on about wider acceptance in the Canadian market!

I reaqlize that there is nothing I can say that will make anyone understand that the contested "Redeye" clip was not funny. it was mean spirited and insulting, to Canadians and to their soldiers.

As for Canada, they have higher longevity, lower infant mortality, lower crime rate, lower murder rate (and no death penalty, imagine that), lower rate of drug addiction and alcoholism and noone there will ever declare bankrupcy because of illness. So they're doing OK. Fact is, perhaps we're the joke.

During the primaries, I was not a big Huckabee fan. But I've been enjoying his show, he has a strong "folksy" quality about him. As he goes on with the show over the next few years, he's going to gain more and more fans. If he decides to run again, he'll be a far more formidable candidate.

Nvh, that's what made it funny. The irony is that Americans LIKE Canadians. The statements were made in jest, but I guess you need a sense of humor to understand. I, like a majority of Americans, like Canadians. All the Canadians I know (quite a few) are pretty much...American. They can take a joke.

Hey Johnny - The l'il feller is lying about you again. He says you aren't being truthful about your service in the military.

Now, I could be wrong (and I usually am not), but being a regular reader of J$P and the forum, I've never seen you even mention serving or not serving. Since you haven't mentioned it, how could you have lied?

Patrick obviously has a problem of some kind with people who do not serve in the military. In response to my comment But he still has the hatred for those who did not serve, I'm still looking for his rage against Bill Clinton, John Edwards, and Barack Obama. In his 3:25 post, L'il feller is quite clear, there are two choices, serving or turning tail. You see, he has trouble with anything gray.

His response, at 10:03pm, I said I do not hold a grudge against anyone who sereved, try to spin it to the way you want, you know what I said its in black and white."

That's nice of the l'il feller, he doesn't hold a grudge against our veterans.

I've nuked a bunch of messages because apparently nobody cared when I asked people to get the subject back onto cable news. The drift from cable news to international geopolitical relations was I'm sure a fascinating one, but like all drifts, it does come to an end. If you want to keep discussing the infamous Red Eye clip please focus on the cable news aspect of it rather than going off into politics.

By all means, Johnny, don't let any of us do that.

I thought the Red Eye comments were hilarious and not at all derogatory. In my book it's like joking about the British serving tea and crumpets in fox holes.

That Canadians ARE peaceful and civilized is the point. Exaggerating THAT is what a joke does.

However, I bow to the sensitivities of anyone who has actually served their country in the military. That you think it's offensive, Vstol, is good enough for me.

Perhaps we are, certainly not "always", but regardless, that's the difference between those of us at J$P and those at the dog pound. Vstol, perhaps I would be offended. I can definitely see that Canadians might take offense b/c no one likes to think that they are less than a world class outfit.

However, I still think that the concept of taking a vacation from a war is a subject worthy of discussion and political humor. If Canada had its only border with an aggresive repressive country they would have to be well prepared.

It is axiomatic that a main reason they don't, like the entire Western world, is that the US is the backbone and main stay for their security. I guess b/c if the shoe were on our foot I wouldn't be upset with those who did a comedy routine based on the hiatus but why did this happen and what are we going to do to correct it.

BTW, Red Eye is totally irreverent and are equal opportunity take eveyone down a peg. They didn't do anything unique or special about Canada.

Indeed, the irony of Redeye mocking Canada about it's troops taking a break is rich, considering the concern that was expressed in the Pentagon about "breaking the military" by forcing a 15 month rotation on our soldiers, instead of 12 months.

What kind of twinks are we allowing in, when they have to retreat to Mama's trailer to download porn and drink Bud after 12 months in Iraq.? And then the military was forced to use "stop-loss" tp keep these "soldiers" from fleeing the field completely. Do they think they're Paris Hilton getting out of jail? "Let me go home or I'll pout".

But what's really funny about what I've written is that I, and most Americans, don't believe a word of it.

You don't have to go through all that rigamarole to 'figure out' what's allowed. We have a very nice set of rules that makes it quite clear.

You keep wanting to post links to stuff that is not about cable news. The rules will give you some guidance on that. And given the number of links you've posted in just this one thread, well, the rules are your friend on that point too.

You need to read the rules more closely. These threads are for a discussion among the participants. They're not a contest to see who can scour up the most links. You've pretty much used up your quote of posting links for this thread. That's why the thread is called 'comments', not 'everybody start posting links'.

You've already posted a half-dozen links to this thread, for what purpose I'm not sure, but you're abusing the privilege. We'd like to hear what you have to say, not so much how many sites you can come up with that agree with you.

Well, I do see something of value in those links.

FNC, albeit through a quasi comedy show rather than straight news, give the man in the street Canadian a headsup about a startling potentiaity re their DoD and their only reaction is to condemn FNC!

I was absolutely amazed that I didn't (just skimmed quite a few) see one concern that thier military is unable to handle the engagement and projections indicate they will not be able to provide ANY tanks in 2011. I would have thought that would at least warrant a sentence or two.

Especially in view of the rampant paranoia displayed on many of the blue blogs for the last 8 years that America was heading for a new Nazi state under Bush/Cheney, that they were recalling troops from Iraq for a military coup to either prevent the election or hold the other branches hostage and prevent the transfer of power and on and on and on.

If I even considered that a remote possibility re a much larger and stronger neighbor I would be doing my utmost politically to rachet up my own military to at least give them pause and possibly prevent the worse from happening. So, I guess they were all blowing smoke about the evil Nazi Bush/Cheney regime?

They need something or someone to hate so they can't see that no one was actually smearing any Canadian soldiers. They were using humor about the announcement of taking some time off. Of course NH humor is viciously attacking women which they do with great relish.

It should be no surprise Canada is running out of resources. Same with the US. US military has never had reservists in a foreign land for 4-5 tours before (also each tour is 15 months vice 12). Canadians have the same problem.

To make light of this is in poor taste in the best of cases. Especially when all four jokers never served. Remember, both Canada and US have "boots on the ground" at this time.

Once again Billdo showing to be the ass (Oops Class) of Fox News. 1) The l'il feller posts constantly about "Hagzilla", but it's Hagzilla that is obsessed with him?

2) If I am at the museum, and I find a 5th grade class of elementry school students on a field trip, the student with the five o'clock shadow will give his barbie doll to me? That's nice, I suppose, in an Addams Family way.

Not now. Based on the article I read that prompted the Red Eye spoof it is painfully obvious. I get the feeling that the Canadian man in the street may be a bit surprised too. As I said I would think it would be a subject worthy of at least some serious discussion instead of outrage at the grantedly unusual messenger, a US quasi comedy show.

I am aware that the US military is showing the strain. However the day I learn that they will take a year long hiatus devoted to regrouping and replacing supplies that are so inadaquate that they will not have an operational tank for a year I won't be shooting the messenger, wheter FNC or MSNBC.

I will, however, be storming my political representatives with pitchfork in one hand and burning faggot in the other!

Just in case her gentle nudge had been missed by the harpies she eloquently left no stone unturned in her effort to mold the harpies into a reflection of Pegleg herself:

I feel like I need a cue card like those in Shrek to prompt the adoring crowds to go: Awwwwwwwwwwww.

Not sure how you come up with these totally false blanket statements, but I would venture it is your own selective attention, selective perception and selective retention that is at work.

If Fox's comedy Show is widely viewed, you will be lucky if Canadians don't go back to demanding an immediate withdrawal.......our efforts are not appreciated anyways. So why should our young men and women continue to die?

Oh, for heaven's sakes!

Invariably the critics here go so over-the-top that they make it impossible for you to take them seriously even when you're trying like the dickens to do just that!

THIS is so ginned up, it reeks!

ANYONE who would take remarks on Red Eye as being tantamount to an international incident, needs their head examined!

This level of strum und drang comes from folks who already have a white heat going when it comes to FNC.

It's "faux" fury and it's "fixed" outrage.

Re me:

"My guess he's in his 40's and divorced."

Well, I sure would like for one of those to be true. I've got a kid in his very early forties and teenage grandchildren. Oh to be the Big 49again. My husband, parents, brother and friends would still be alive and active and I would be a a football, baseball, basketball and golf mom.

Maybe Claudo is really is a pimply faced little dweeb indulging his flights of derrin do under the blankets so Mom won't know he's awake playing with whatever he plays with. He is always good for a laugh on him.

Boy, you guys just love to gossip. I do think that every criticism that you are making here would apply equally to yourselves. But never mind that.

I don't expect anyone to get it, and you all will defend to your graves Redeyes "humour" and fox in general. People who thought like you were running foriegn policy for 8 years, bashing "old Europe" and straining, if not breaking, our relationship with every other nation. No wonder that most of the world rated GW Bush as more of a danger that bin Laden. And you still don't get that displaying arrogance and disdain is not only not funny, but will piss people off.

Oh, we get that it pisses some people off.

Some News Clown is here everyday telling us about some dire doing on FNC that has pissed them off.

We'd feel for you and hope that with a little time and distance...maybe some counseling.... you'd be able to work through the trauma.

We'd really take that approach with the lot of you, if it weren't so obvious that being pissed off is your mother's milk, and that this a meal that you insist, demand, and command, that EVERYONE else share as well.

I fully understand your POV. I just think it's akin to grandstanding on a balsa wood soapbox. Your speech to us is that Fox News is nasty and should be condemned, but the underlying reasons you give are spurious at best and based on a joke (a funny one at that). Hence, the soapbox crumbles and you get mud in your face.

Dear Cecelia, you obviously do not know many Canadians either so I will provide a link to another of our National Papers.

I assume that is allowable, but who knows.

This is from the Toronto Star and it's final sentence is this:

"What then are we doing there? Why wait until 2011 to pull out? Why not leave now?"

http://www.thestar.com/comment/article/595966

The outrage is quite genuine, even our Conservative Prime Minister has doubts as to whether this war is winnable.....as you would know if you watched his interview on American Cable News, over at CNN.

The article will give you an idea of how Canadians think.

PS: The Star and the Post, both run to the right of Canadian Politics.

Rating Bush more dangerous than bin Laden says more about the lack of intelligence on the part of those who hold such beliefs.

Excuse me, please. Are you saying that the only interest that Canada has in Afghanistan is to make nice to the yanks. Then those yanks don't even appreciate it so you're going to pick up your materiel and go home if the average citizen gets their way?

I'm sorry you think that way. I guess you don't accept the "no man is an island" concept.

I would say in this perilous political and military time that is a very dangerous and short sighted policy.

Onefortheroad,

I still think I gave you some good advice last night. You need to have a few before you start out and quit being so high maintenance.

The day Red Eye with Greg Gutfield on FNC becomes an official arm of the US State Department come back and I promise that I will satisfy your every whim and do all your research.

Until then this is nothing more than a hissy fit by some Canadians over a middle of the night talk/comedy show on a cable channel. And might I remind you that they, during the course of the segment, read verbatim a report from a Canadian official. So what's the beef?

I'd rather know the state of my military from Jon Stewart rather than be clueless.

You're funny!

But that's all you can do, mock another viewpoint, rather than try to experience empathy. I am not suprised, but I am rather saddened that, upon hearing that Canadians might be angry, the response is to laugh at the response of those who were mocked.

As I stated in my previous post, this is the arrogance that lost us the high esteem that this nation once enjoyed internationally.

Onefortheroad,

I'm perplexed over the link.

I have absolutely NO issue with the internal debate in Canada about whether to continue in Afghanistan, nor with the outrage of those Canadians who believe it to be in their country's issue to leave.

I don't agree, but it's an arguable issue and an import debate.

I do, however, take issue with your overblown statements concerning a joke on Red Eye.

You can harbor outrage, anxiety, and doubt about Canadian troops being in Afghanistan, without it so coloring your perspective that you make a puppy into a pit bull.

Come, come! No one is denigrating anyone's service or sacrifice except perhaps you. Don't you think that 2,500 Canadian soldiers doing "the heavy lifting in Afghanistan while you've been messing about in Iraq" is a bit hyperbolic. The Canadians are good effective fighters but I really doubt that one Canadian is more effective than 10-12 American troops.

As for this "These bastards don't deserve a platform in the civic dialogue. They need to be off the air." view of free speech thanks but no thanks.

It would be nice if more than one or two at your site would drop all the hyperventilating outrage and have a civil discussion about the various differences of opinions. It is just not possible now that I can see. Sad.

While that little 4 second quip about Canada's LFC wasn't hilarious, it was mildly funny and few members of that esteemed force would take offence, especially from a military veteran such as Andy Levy. Lighten up already.
