Wednesday Cable News Links and Open Thread

Tuesday's numbers: FNC sweeps.  August program ranker: FNC is phenomenal! Reese analysis. Coop droops. Campbell's slump.

Five weird minutes.

CNN iReport: Glenn Beck a rapist murderer?!

Schultz splits again. Flashback.  Joe sez no.

Maria's Medicare mistake.  Hotline after dark.

Updated through the day.  Use our valuable bandwidth to post your cable news comments in today's open thread. Standard rules apply.

MSNBC's spin on the August numbers is pretty funny.
That 18-34 demo....a question....What are the TOTAL numbers of viewers in that demo?....300K? It seems that beating FNC by 4% in a demo that small is a pretty silly thing to boast about. Also, why does MSNBC only specifically compare COUTNDOWN to CNN in the 18-34 demo and not O'Reilly?
Lastly, the fact remains that COUNTDOWN was DOWN from last year....What a shame.

Maria B doesn't know an elementary fact about Medicare? What else doesn't she know when it comes to business/finance?
Weiner must have thought he was on Candid Camera during that interview.
Yet another reason why CNBC is falling in the ratings.

Drudge has a link to the story about Beck receiving the Key to the City from his hometown of Mt. Vernon, Washington. Very cool, congrats to Beck.

I think FNC's popularity among Dems as well as Republicans comes from the fact that though they may criticize politicians, they don't condescend to and insult the people watching them in their living room.

maybe schultz and Olbermann should get their own show together, both have a lot in common.
I watched Maddows interview of Tom ridge last night, The Ridge interview was 3 segments and they had a civil discussion on Ridges book. no rudeness or interruptions when Ridge was trying to speak. Thats the one thing I like about Maddow, she will interview people that do not share her own views unlike someone else on the channel

"MCCARTHYISM!!!!!!".....just another example of their inability to atriculate a reasoned response.
They must really hate it when biased liberal professors names are made public.

Claudo the Clown misses the whole point here.
The point is that if a student has a problem then it should be discussed with the professor or the administrator. The agreived students don't need to be making lists (which is very McCarthyesque) and going on Fox News. And so what if a professor has a point of view, the bottom line is whether the grade is affected. The principal issue is here is that Fox and the student are decrying lack of balance when the whole interview as complete right wing propaganda.

Liberals on college campuses have long tried to stifle conservative views. They have released names and attacked anyone who had a different view. This is the usual "let's attack them and destroy their message" agenda of the left.
They are afraid of rational discussion.

How freakin low of the libs to try this crap with Glenn Beck, making a rape and murder accusation. Check out this "scholar" analysis of the thing:
"There really is no proof he didn't commit this crime..."
It just goes to show how stupid the Glenn Beck haters are.
Now, will Cankles the Clown run with it?
September 2, 2009, 1:42:19 PM EDT – Like – Reply

The site says that they are accusing Glenn Beck of rape and murder (not of an erroneous opinion, but an outright capital crime) because that's the tactics he uses against people.
When are they talking about? When did Beck do anything similar?

We can only pray Ashley.
As soon as he can get somebody from a far left blog to come on the show, look for Olby to roll with it.

Good question.
Next question, HOW will he run with it ?
I suspect that he will lay the whole thing out while insisting he only does so to point out the lack of hard proof.
That way he gets it out in the open in the MSM a la the Palin's baby, Trig, was really Palin's grandson.

I wonder if this 'rumor' is a 'real' rumor or someone's idea of satire. I visited the glennbeckkilled... website the article links to and it's so over the top that it makes me doubt its seriousness.

How typical of The Lil Fella. He can't hide his ignorance no matter how hard he tries?

It "too smart", not "to smart".
I guess that leaves you out of your own blog, dear, and you'll have to content yourself with Roadie.

I did also, and also did a whois lookup. The domain was created 09/01/2009, it's owner is using an anonymous service with Enom and the server is in Canada.
This should be very easy to verify one way or the other.

Johnny at the bottom of that site's page, it says "Notice: This site is parody/satire. We assume Glenn Beck did not rape and murder a young girl in 1990, although we haven't yet seen proof that he didn't. But we think Glenn Beck definitely uses tactics like this to spread lies and misinformation. "
That's why I ask, when did Glenn Beck ever do anything like accuse someone of a horrendous capital crime?

Thanks for catching that, Cece. It makes we wonder though how it could end up on CNN's iReport, though it looks like it has been recently removed.
September 2, 2009, 5:26:39 PM EDT – Like – Reply

CNN better have removed it.
If I were Beck, I'd go after CNN with an attorney whether or not the accusation was put on the site by someone who isn't an CNN staffer.

I just read all six, as of now, comments to Mr. Reese's blog.
Everyone of them is questioning the methodology of "the poll" that produced these unbelievable and incredible results. Did that poll include probing questions such has have you stopped watching all TV b/c. ya know, the Libs are just too smart for most of cable news.
Do these people and their ilk never tire of proclaiming long and loudly their heart felt conviction that they are intellectually and morally superior super beings.

Regarding intellectually and morally superior beings.
If that is what they believe, all they need do is to spend a minute with the li'l feller; his existence quickly disproves that theory.

On Glenn's radio show today, he took, as the final call, a guy who started out with (paraphrasing) the 'news from your hometown that you're a murderer.'
Glenn let him speak, then thanked him for his call as the show ended.

Keith Olbermann lost to The Factor in the 18-34 demo. Medialite had a story about that. Bill won in July and was ahead by the same margin in August (about a week ago). Nothing Keith did during that time could have gotten him the win for the month.
Also, why no big story on the ratings of Greg Gutfelds Red Eye show? I've seen it posted elsewhere but did you see the amount of shows that Red Eye has more viewers than?
Red Eye is more popular than shows like Morning Joe. Even beats a show like CNN's American Morning in the almighty "demo".

I know he was just trying to be helpful and caring but I don't have any Absolute (sic) b/c I've switched to Grey Goose and I never drive after drinking.
The poor baby just seems to be desparately craving to be a part of J$P even if only from a distance and thru a veil.
FF, maybe it would be nice if we all gave him a big wave and a loud cheery shoutout!
Hey, Patrick, how ya doing? Maybe one day when you grow up Johnny will let you sit at the big people's table. Until then, hang in there!
