This from a site that allows it's members to denigrate republican women and uses terms such as "pussy", "fag" and "cunt" to describe people they disagree with.

OH!! I forgot. They call it sarcasm.
I guess that is what govt school education does to some people.

Any idea where the visitors are? Obviously, geography is not always my strong suit.

I know. That's why I asked my all knowing web master.

Another question: The notation is 12 Visitors, One Active.

Does that mean you've had 12 discrete users from that site over all and only one is currently active?

Who's here tells you how many people are online at this site at the moment it loads. E.G. right now it says 32 people are reading J$P. If you enlarge the map the same info appears at the top of the page.

When you check out individual cities in the expanded map, let's say you look up Jacksonville, it might say 3 visitors, 2 active. That means three people from JAX have been online over the past period (I think it's 24 hours) and there are 2 people from JAX online at that moment. That's what you get from a flashing star, which means someone is online right now from that city.

I probably didn't explain it very well so feel free to query me some more!

I was looking for part three of the Bill-Dave interview that wasn't taped off a user's TV. All I found were parts one and two, Keith's WPitW, and Cenk Uygur claiming on his "Young Turks" web/radio show that Bill boycotted Spain. He hasn't done so yet. And depending on the poll results and whether or not Spain follows through with their version of Patrick Leahy, there might not have to be a boycott at all.

Apparently you missed the part about the "former weatherman." Letterman
was pwned.

"I think of you as a goon," Letterman point-blank told O'Reilly. Then, holding up the cover of O'Reilly's book, "A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity," which has a photo of O'Reilly as a boy, Letterman quipped, "I look at that and I see this sweet, adorable kid... I have a sweet adorable kid and I wonder, 'What if he too becomes a goon?'"

That looks a lot like Bill, getting "pwned" as you say, by the weatherman.

Wow, that's quite a takedown: asking Letterman, if he used to be part of a highly respected profession that requires a good deal of scientific study, and pays roughly about 100k a year.

The current median salary for a weatherman is about 90k. I have no idea what Dave made, but asking someone if they are weatherman isn't much of a putdown.

And the current price of a car is well into five figures. What does that have to do with weather guys at small local stations decades ago whose only 'scientific study' was learning how to read a teleprompter and wave at a map? News anchors at local stations weren't making 100k back then, let alone the weather guy, lowest rung on the local news ladder.

You want to insist that Letterman awesomely 'pwned' O'Reilly and throw around other fad terms like 'epic fail' be my guest. But don't try to make Letterman's humble origins anything more than what they were. There's nothing wrong with starting out as a schlub weather reader. Peter Jennings once hosted a kids' puppet show. And it took about the same amount of 'scientific study' as Letterman's job.

Letterman, "..and then, what was the deal where the Republican Party, in the face and the gesture of Richard Steele offered Rush Limbaugh an apology?"

Letterman, "Isn't that the dog wagging the tail here?"

Letterman, "I always thought that Rush Limbaugh coulda' be a TV weatherman, he coulda' done sports, he coulda' hosted a game show, but somebody said, "But Rush, we need a right wing commentary niche."

O'Reilly, "Didn't you used to be a weatherman?

Letterman, "...Yeah."

schnizzle,

It was Letterman who brought up and denigrated being a weatherman, not O'Reilly. All Bill did was spike it back in Dave's face.

First off, you have not demonstrated that Letterman was paid poorly, for what he did. the profession pays well, and until you can demonstrate otherwise, I'm assuming like others in the profession Letterman was paid decently.

Secondly, You have not demonstrated that there is something lacking in worth to being a weatherman. Kind of a condition for it to be an awesomly 'pwned' kind of take down as olby sucks indicated, don't you think?

Thirdly, The median salary is germain to the debate because in order for O'Reilly to have awesomely 'pwned' Letterman, the profession would have to be disgraceful, I was putting forth the midpoint salary of weathermen as piece of evidence demonstrating it is not a disgraceful profession.

Thirdly, I don't think starting as a t.v. weatherman is all that humble. It's not like being say a garbage man, or maybe a lawyer... Which btw has a lower median salary than the job title of weatherman. still I'm sure Letterman was mortally offended when O'Reilly asked him if he used to be a weatherman.

Finally, I never said anything like, 'epic fail' and I'd apreciate it if you didn't lie about that.

Actually Letterman, didn't denigrate the profession. He said. Rush could, have been: a Weatherman, a sports reporter, a game show host..

He never said there was anything wrong with any of these professions and seemd to be making the point that Rush, could have doen a number of things but randomly fell into the politics game.

In his list of things that Limbaugh could have done, one the things Rush HAS done is to have a bigger audience and to make more money than Letterman does with a tv show.

Yeah I don't care who started it. I don't like those fad words regardless!  BUT I choose my words carefully, and don't like being called a liar because somebody doesn't read carefully. To say to someone that if they want to throw around fad terms like 'epic fail' then they can...that doesn't even come close to meaning 'You used the term epic fail'.

But this excessive attention on minutia has a very familiar feel to it. Why would someone want to divert a discussion to complaining about a throwaway sentence anyhow? Enquiring minds want to know!

You're not only tone deaf, you're medium deaf.

This is a public board, anything here is open for comment.

Said the person, crying about me coming to the public board, where anything is open for comment, and stating an opinion she didn't like. Your hypocrisy continues to astound. It almost matches your sense of victimhood.

That's tone-deaf AND convoluted thinking..

That there are no private messages or exchanges that can be considered solely between two people on a public board has nothing to do with the motives of why people comment.

Saying you're only here to argue with the "sycophants" is not declaring victimhood, it's confronting what you are-- which is someone solely here to disagree no matter how tenuous the predicate.

Enough of this back and forth between Schizzle and Cecelia. This is not a chat room, and they're boring everyone.

Well, you'd be the expert on that. Your thinking has been nothing but convulted and tone deaf since you started posting.

"That there are no private messages or exchanges that can be considered solely between two people on a public board has nothing to do with the motives of why people comment."

My bad, you sense of victimhood exceeds your hypocrisy today.

"Saying you're only here to argue with the 'sycophants'"

there you go again making thinks up. Obviously I didn't say that to you.

"is not declaring victimhood, it's confronting what you are-- which is someone solely here to disagree no matter how tenuous the predicate."

Well, given that you just had

I second that, Pat. J$ could give them each other's email addys. Or maybe they could exchange phone numbers. Who knows, they might be highly compatible in person!

Is that something like "get a room"?

I wouldn't mind if the back-and-forth could be taken to email.

Well, now you are letting your hypocrisy outweigh your sense of victimhood. Obviously you are here to do nothing but argue yourself, or a piece of name calling that wasn't directed at poor you, would have been ignored.

But no, after the matter was settled between me and that person poor little you, just couldn't let it go and had to practically beg me to pay attention to you. Trying repeatedly to get me to shift the argument your way so you could show how upset you were about what transpired between me an someone else that I had apologized to twice..

I have a question for poor you, has this sense of victimhood held you back in life? You are not one of those people who failed to get into a university and then spent the rest of your life blaming others for it are you?

OK now I am going to call a halt to this exchange. Schiz, it's kind of hard for anyone who posts here to divine that name-calling wasn't directed at them, when you blithely refer to them collectively as 'sycophants'. Then when one of the 'sycophants' takes offense, you attack with more personal attacks (read your last paragraph above) and then cite your apology to someone else you called 'sycophant' as if that somehow made the insult to all the others disappear as if it never existed.

We're here to discuss cable news issues, not call other names. So stick to that. There won't be any more on this bit of business, but 'Lost' was last night and today I'll be watching more carefully for name-calling, whether directed at one or a group of the people who post here.

Well, it did work for you after a while, FF.

It could well be the case here too (but we'll never know via the methods you mention).

Hey, anybody want to talk about Ed Schultz being added to the MSNBC stable of news reporters.

His self-proclaimed claim to fame being, "The most listened to talk show host on progressive radio."

Isn't that like bragging about being the best basketball team with a winning percentage below 10%?

Or the most popular date at a men's prison?

Or the nicest guy in an outlaw biker gang?

Or the..........

Okay, that was amusing. It would probably go along the lines of private Lives; A Noel Coward play about a couple that fights to the bitter end, comes to enjoy the fights, goes through a period of liking each other, which leads to boredom, followed by them picking a fight and repeating the cycle.
