The journolist piece gave me a good laugh.

"Perhaps, if [Olbermann's] work is going to be brought up here 2 or 3 times a week, he should be invited on the list. Or is the point of this to create a forum where certain people can be criticized (or, more precisely, called names) without the criticizer having to fear a response?"

###
I think Olbermann should be included in the "Secret Liberal Media Email Cabal," if for no other reason as to make the poor soul feel wanted. Dr. Dean made it clear Olbermann is currently persona non grata to the left's political class, so the poor guy needs to feel wanted by another clique.

Liberals are usually known for their compassion. We also know that such cliques usually have back-stabbers who are more than happy to let loose about one of their own.

Come on now, they should accept the face of NBC NEWS as one of their own....a fellow traveler, an Obama acolyte prepared to advance the cause of hope, competence and hard work. He is committed to the cause.

It's unbelievable that CNN cut Hughley's mentioning of weed, despite the fact that he used it in a (statewise) legal manner. The taboo of talking about it is long gone. 95+% of people under 50 have tried it (made up statistic, but true to the people I've known). The time for legalizing and taxing has been a long time coming. This could be the single redeeming factor of our current administration, if what Obama said at the web Q&A is untrue.

Honorable mention from the TVN link: "Pimping the blog, and flogging the chimp". They must know of Haggis there!

WOW! What a smorgasborg on today's menu. So much red meat, so little time to sink one's teeth into it all. Guess I'll have to put my treatise on the cable news' coverage of the news about the news about the news on the back burner (otherwise known during Spring Break as the Florida sun).

M
FWIW, my priority of must reads:

1. Keith wins award: Hypocrite of the Week: MSNBC's Keith Olbermann

2. Olby's oversight: General Electric: The Worst Bailout in the World

3. CNN spins: In Depth: Pre-emptive Strike…

4. Hughley's final cut: CNN Edits Out Pot Purchase from D.L. Hughley's Final Show

5. Keith wins award: Hypocrite of the Week: MSNBC's Keith Olbermann

And now, for the rest of the story:

From AP

"Jurors have acquitted one of the nation's few late-term abortion providers of violating Kansas law requiring an independent second opinion for the procedure."

"But moments after the verdict was announced Friday, the state's medical board made public a complaint against Dr. George Tiller on similar allegations."

"The medical board considering the complaint against Tiller could revoke, suspend or limit his medical license, or fine him."

So basically, vstol, the beat goes on for Tiller's legal woes. :+:
Anyway, it's good to see that Vendettamann barely mustered a distant second place in total viewers at 8:00, came in third in the 25-54 demo at 8:00, and came in fourth in both categories at 10:00. But as with the Dr. (who I won't bring up anymore in this thread, Johnny), the beat goes on for Man on Fan and his far-left brethren. Team Turkel's new tactic is going after BOR's sponsors, as I think was mentioned in yesterday's thread. Like the vile crusade against Alexa, this is a crusade that TP must not win.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the crusade will not win. Follow: in terms of viewership, Bill O'Reilly is the American Idol of cable news. He's been on top for years and hasn't been dethroned. Do you think you could convince Ford and everyone else not to advertise on AI? Especially with an agenda-driven partisan campaign? (Companies see thru that like cellphane.) It's a fool's errand. It won't happen.

Keith Olbermann, this week's WORST HYPOCRITE IN THE WORRRRRRLD!

Condensed "Keith wins award:

"Another week, another repeat hypocrite. What is going on in the world?"

"Hypocrisy is instead a thing that quite simply is."

"It's pretty black and white that way. When we see it we know it. No matter how it dresses itself up, the true face of hypocrisy is not something that can ever be shrouded or otherwise disguised."

"...this week's undeniably hypocritical actions by MSNBC's Keith Olbermann, surprised even me."

"It's hypocritical, it's biased and Mr. Olbermann should be ashamed of himself for showing his cards so unabashedly. It not only fuels the notion of a liberally biased media, it diminishes his credibility as a viable and important voice in the media, which some might argue would be a terrible loss. "

"On a completely different note, also stoking the flames of Keith Olbermann's hypocrisy this week was a major gaffe involving the social networking site Twitter."

"So because he completely contradicted himself on the use of the term 'fascism' in describing presidential administrations and is still digging his foot out of his mouth for designating Twitter, the 'worst persons in the world,' Keith Olbermann makes a triumphant return as the hypocrite of the week."

That's pretty weasly wording. They don't say they're stopping, but they have no plans to continue. Which means they may have already stopped because their ad run concluded, or they decided to lay off cable ads for a while, or for some other reason predating this whole kerfuffle. Does anyone remember the last time there was a UPS ad?

Say that to Mike Wallace and my local news' "SHAME ON YOU" consumer protection reporter.

UPS is foolish to drop the top rated cable news program from their advetising if it is because of the whining of a small minority of hypocrites.

I wonder if it is because of economic considerations, I know FEDEX is doing very bad in the current economic environment, I cannot imagine UPS is doing that much better.

We went thru this a couple of years ago in another 'attack the sponsors' campaign. One so-called victory proved to be nothing more than a sponsor that had decided to stop ads much earlier for reasons that had nothing to do with the campaign. And of course, as soon as that spot opened up, someone else rushed in to take it. These campaigns almost never work, because it's basically impossible to convince every possible advertiser not to advertise. But we'll see how this one goes. Look at it this way: if the Fox haters are expending their energy on an impossible dream, all the better.

Someone needs to tell the rest of the media this news.

Shoving a microphone into someone's face has been around since there have been microphones.

All the local tv stations here have public interest teams, who will stick a microphone in the face of everyone from bad Walmart managers to citizens who take issue with their community school board.

Why is everyone acting like this is new or unusual?

Olbermann does something completely one-sided, and therefore far worse.

He's given many a 'nobody' (let alone people who have made themselves answerable for what they said or wrote) the bronze or silver WPITW award on national television with absolutely no opportunity for them to reply.

What I really love about the It Happened to Mandy Cancel Advertising Campaign, is the repeating meme (is that a redundancy?) through out the HFN (Hate Fox Network) of CD w/KO and the bright blueblog scrotum of, "Ford spokesman, Mark Shirmer..." as if he has some official voice at Ford Motor Co. other than trying to sell cars!

And somehow, the "selective editing" attacks on FNC is another version of "what's good for the goose ISN"T good for the gander" when the following excerpts from Shirmer's email to TP are.....what...ommitted?
=-=-=

"Anyhow, the email campaign is just goofy. The 500 or so notes I am getting an hour are automatically deleted thanks to a simple program in Microsoft Outlook. Form letters are just annoying and easy to get rid of. So no real harm."

and

"And I never, ever watch Bill O’Reilly. Don’t know when he is on. Don’t care. And that’s how you get rid of a show, stop watching. When the ratings dive, the advertisers will leave. The network will kill it off. If we pull our advertising, others will simply pick up the empty spots, and happily so. The show will go on. Sadly."

""I might suggest you consider another tactic though. The silly form letters are just annoying and easy to delete.
Best of luck. If I had more time, I’d visit ThinkProgress.org. Too busy trying to get Ford back on its feet though. That is important. What Bill O’Reilly does or says is not important. "

The stance Olbermann is taking with this woman who wrote the piece in Think Progress, is so utterly hypocritical!

If she had been...say...a Christian conservative who was making a case against Ted Kennedy speaking at a MADD fund raiser, or perhaps speaking at a community group that promoted swimming lessons.... Olbermann would vilify her on national television by making her WPITW.

She'd have NO opportunity to rebut. What Olbermann said about her, to a national audience, would immediately be taken up by the blueblogs and she'd just have to sputter around on the internet to make her case.

At least O'Reilly gives his subjects an opportunity to speak their piece, and therefore to best him (as Bill Moyers did).

The ratings are so high at FNC is because this network does a service to the people who are so against the administration. The rest of us probably are turning to Fox becasue we are so entertained by watching the Fox anchors and the nightime lineup going into a meltdown because of Obama. Its so much fun listening to all their rants. Love it Love it. Will love the next 4 years unless the republican congress dares to impeach. Stay tuned.

"...making a case against Ted Kennedy speaking at a MADD fund raiser..."

Cecilia,

Sen. Kennedy is an obvious excellent choice to speak at a MADD fundraise. By all accounts, he's been off the sauce for awhile now, and MADD typically has those who have previously been involved in alcohol related tragedies speak at their gatherings.

(pre-emptive comment: Before someone tries to connect O'Reilly speaking at the Alexa Foundation funraiser to MADD's policy, think it through.)

Stay tuned.

Anon, with enemies like you, who at FNC needs friends...

I suspect that Rupert Murdoch wouldn't object to your motives for watching.

Driving up the network's numbers, for whatever reason, would suit him just fine, when setting advertising rates.

I'd say it could be........Jealousy?

As the Natalie Merchant Song (of the same name) from the album 'Tigerlily' plays in the backround.

OR! Could it be?

Awards? We don't need any stinkin' awards.

But, I did hear Roger Ailes say in an interview once that since the other news organizations are bigger they leave (again jealousy?) FNC out of all awards, and he tells folks that go to work for FNC to not expect any from you're peers.

But it does look from the ratings that people love FNC, and so do advertisers. (ones with backbone of course)

This vendetta by Olbermann is a very old trick, (played by the left & right) It might result in one or two advetisers leaving, but! And this is a very big BUT!
The door is left open to new advertisers, who will jump in to fill the void. So thinking this in any way will put BOR off the air is a very VERY big pipe dream.

Johnny I know this is off topic but didn't C.A.I.R. try this same tactic with Savage last fall? All that happened was Savage ended up with more stations. Not less. It seems everytime Olby goes for something big against BOR, Bill gets a bigger base while Olby loses some off his.

Like we say here in the land of Bibles & Guns, "that dog don't hunt!"

Thanks for the heads up! i just went to read the l'il feller rants over at NH, then checked out the link back to J$P with Eric Cartman's other comments.

Yeah, the l'il feller has posted here under many names, Remember when he said he was starting his own website for fair and balanced debate at foxnewsisfixed.com? I wonder how he did with that.

Patrick, if that really is his name, clearly told us on a few occasions that he was an NH moderator. I remember commenting to him once that he was the smartest of the hounds, and he actually thanked me thinking it was a compliment to him. HAR! Scanning the thread with the Eric Cartman posts turn up a lot of posts written by Eric Cartman that are clearly in the incoherent writing style of the l'il feller.

Here is one example:
Dollar is can go out and get an Ip address from Russia if I want It is not hard. And Ashley prove to me that you are a dude since you type like a little 10 year old girl. Prove to me what you are.

That's what happens to liars.

First he lied here. Then he lied here about what he did there.

Then he went there and lied. Then he lied about what he did here.

It's all a rather pathetic and desperate attempt be liked, be a BMaNH, and find some like minded pals he hang with.

Whenever a more emotionally mature or long time NHounder would criticize the rantings and ravings of the handfull of tyrannical spewers of hate on the now infamous O/T $ thread, they would get slapped, riciculed and told to get lost.

He's recently come under closer scrutiny for his racist, sexist and homophobic blather.

When it was clearly shown that he lied here about being a Mod and a poster and that he lied there to his buddy about it, well, supposedly friends don't lie to friends.

Haggis notes my spin....Nevermind his spin.....

Poor ratings spun by awards.....

I wonder what wonderful CNN shows will be up for awards next year?....Oh that's right...they may not be in existence anymore because the American people will choose other channels because they present relevant, fair and balanced programming.

The same with so many memorable PBS and network journalist ventures....the leftist bias is obvious and results in low ratings and then cancellation. The one big difference is that PBS shows are propped up with tax dollars....the viewer numbers are minuscule.

So spinning is relative. Awards are given by human beings with biases and preferences....People put their tv's in a channel for the same reasons....I'll go with the judgement of the average American next door to me.

FNC growing in ratings during this very volitile, radical and partisan time says much more than an annual award that you, Haggis, will not even recall two weeks from now when FNC's primetime line-up still beats the second place position by more and more.

I recall the radical left telling their political elite to not go on FOX NEWS back during the democrat primary.....How did that work out? Bill O'Reilly even got to display his professional, respectful, fair and balanced bona fides with the soon to be president despite the cries of the radicals. I got a lot more information about Obama from that interview than I ever did from Olbermann, Williams, Kouric, or any other of the media.

FNC is a force, a legitamite organization made up of hardworking, fair and descent people trying to inform the American people. They are serving our democracy and I believe our freedom is more reliant on such activity than any silly program Obama and our congress throws out to see if it works.

They don't give awards out for such yoeman's service.

When Patrick read our questions about his online statements and his behavior of stalking Mike C (when he claims to be the parent of an autistic son), he astoundingly defended himself by saying that he covers up by acting differently in real life.

Don't believe this for a second.

Unfortunately, at NH he has received the most acceptance he has ever experienced in his life.

People at NHs, who are smarter and more sophiticated than he is (that's not saying much...), are only too glad to encourage him in statements and behavior that they are too savvy to engage in themselves.

This is just too good. The l'il feller has just half-arsed admitted to being Eric Cartman, and the dope doesn't even realize it.

Remember, it was "Eric Cartman" who told us he was a moderator at NH.

In his current incarnation, he is Michael Weston. Here is what MW had to say yesterday when he was confronted with his lies, here he is denying he is Patrick who came in as Baba Booey:

But not Patrick, Patrick came in as Bababooey, but Patrick does know who Eric Cartman is.
Posted by: Michael Weston on Fri 3.27 9:50pm

Then less than 12 hours later he admits that HE was Bababooey

I never said I was am moderator, that was Eric Cartman, I was known as Bababooey, show me proof that I was Eric Cartman, show me proof trollboy that you have never trolled around and said some of the things I have said, pistroll you know you have.
Posted by: Michael Weston on Sat 3.28 5:33am

So the l'il feller denies he was BabaBooey then a few hours later he admits to being Bababooey. He can't keep all of his lies straight.

Therefore, he now admits to being Patrick, Baba, Michael Todd, Michael Weston, Fox News is Fixed, i know how many houses i own, etc. And we know Eric was Patrick.

Here's "Eric Cartman" trying to mock me using the l'il feller comment I've been saying to Patrick for almost a year now.

Proves to me there are more Fox haters than Fox lovers. I am sure that little feller (or whatever) Ashley is sad about that.
Eric Cartman | 01.03.09 - 4:52 pm | #

And like Michael Weston, here is "Eric" demanding proof!:

Even the newshounds should be able to see from the "Dollar is can go", and rest about me, that Eric C is Michael Weston.

Patrick is clearly lying to the rest of the newshounds.
