I just watched the video of yesterday's "After the Show Show," but I didn't come here until after I'd watched it at FOXNews.com. I didn't know it was up here. It was great. For the record, the two comedians Karl Rove was talking about from last year's Radio and Television Correspondents' Dinner were Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood. Brad is the one that brought Karl to the stage for the infamous MC Rove improv rap.
I interviewed Colin and Brad respectively when I had my radio show at WCWP.
It's great to at least see the Boston version of Keith Olbermann, Barry Nolan, get fired. Now, if only the national version, Keith himself, could also be fired. Too bad that won't happen.

So this Barry Nolan character gets canned because of his massive crusade against O'Reilly? Good! It's good to know that SOME journalistic entity feels it inappropriate to be obsessed with pulling down another personality in the media.
It would be nice if MSNBC would follow suit.

If Barry Nolan thought that O'Reilly didn't deserve the award he didn't have to go to the ceremony or continue being a member of the organization that gave the award.
Just don't go. And then just quit.
What's amazing in his criticism is that O'Reilly "attacks the media" and shouldn't have been honored because of that.
Well, Bill Moyers has regularly excoriated the press over the past three decades for being corporate controlled or too conservative or not aggressive enough against Republicans. Yet he has received dozens if not hundreds of awards from press groups for his work.
Nolan's dislike of O'Reilly is clearly ideological or political and not professional.
Professional. There's a concept that Mr. Nolan is not familiar with.

I think that concept is anathema to many so called "progressives",
b/c it would interfere with their getting their own political views out to the exclusion of any contrasting or contradictory views.

I just got through reading the Nolan link. Apparently this low-life went as far as to distribute 3 pages from the Andrea Mackris lawsuit to people at the awards ceremony. I knew about Nolan and his protest for a while now, but I had no idea he was a fanatical hater of the Mike Stark ilk.
So he lost his job? Good. Keith, here's your sign!

I agree.
Meanwhile, predictably, Oralmann made Comcast the Worse Person ("the bronze") for tonight. Tokyo Rosebermann then made Gen. Petraeus Worser and, for the second time this week, made Lt. Col. Oliver North Worst. Two military men in one night. Keith Olbermahn (misspelling intentional), why do you hate our troops?

I wonder how Keith would react if, say, someone on Tucker's staff distributed printouts from the karmabites blog all about Keith and his rather unsavory treatment of (and sub-par performance with) one of his fans in a hotel room. Would he make MSNBC "worst" if that staffer were fired? Would he defend the guy for passing around private information of that sort?
It's amazing what a hateful hypocrite Oralmann is.

I don't think OS or Mike will argue the fact that E.D. doesn't pull the kind of numbers Laura does. That's clear from the published data. But that doesn't mean they can't HOPE that she'll do well enough to beat Olby. Such a wish is one that should be shared by all believers in true journalism.

How long before Barry Nolan is hired by MSNBC?
The link to Brian Maloney's post about the Nolan firing reaction has a link to Melanie Morgan's site which links to a petition to get Olby fired for asking Laura and Mark what I asked him a few comments ago:

There's a handful of far-left joke signatures, but the rest are legit. I'm signature #296.

So if you criticise a felon convicted (But overturned on a technicality) of lying to Congress you then hate the troops?
Did you ever criticize Jim Webb?John Kerry?Wes Clark? Jon Soltz?General Sanchez?Do you hate the troops?

Correction please. Let's not have any smears here. Ollie North is not a felon and was never convicted. When a conviction is overturned (and in North's case there was no conviction, even later overturned, of "lying to Congress"), that means legally it never happened. There was no retrial and no conviction. So there will be no calling people felons who are not felons on this site, regardless of who they are.

OK,he's not technically a convicted felon. But will you admit that he would be if not for a court overtuning his conviction? My friend from the Haight isn't a felon either, but they never gave his kilo back.

I really resent, and I find it grossly unfair, that anyone makes the generalization that if one criticizes a General,a Colonel,or a war, then one must "hate the troops".

> he would be if not for a court overtuning his conviction?
And he would not be but for a trial that was ruled so unfair as to be moot. You can resort to the iffy bag as much as you like, but it's still a smear, and maybe even libel, to call someone a felon who isn't one.
> A Harry Nillson fan might Point out that is rude.
Well, let's all sing "me and my arrow"!
> if one criticizes a General,a Colonel,or a war,then one must "hate the troops".
I took that as a parody of Olbermann's frothing that Laura Ingraham, who has actually gone to the war zone to visit the soldiers, "hates the troops". That's what it made me think of anyhow.

North was tried in 1988 in relation to his activities while at the National Security Council. He was indicted on sixteen felony counts and on May 4, 1989, he was initially convicted of three: accepting an illegal gratuity, aiding and abetting in the obstruction of a congressional inquiry, and destruction of documents

Grammie, don't know what you think of Wiki, but it was the nearest concise source.Interesting that North's conviction was overturned with assistance from the ACLU.

You should read my post on that subject. Might open your eyes.
Some time I'll try to figure out what this overturned trial has to do with anything anyhow. I don't think Olbermann named him worst person twice because he is NOT a felon. If he WERE a felon, then Olby could make him a guest expert and invite him on his show a dozen times.

I,m old enough to remember the whole sordid affair with Col North.I don't believe everything I read on Wiki, but I doubt that Grammie would take my word for it (not that I'd blame her).
Others went to jail over Iran-Contra,North got lucky. His conviction was overturned because he had been granted immunity for testimony to Congress, and his immunized testemony was used against him.
I'm not a lawyer,so I can't argue the logic of the Appeals Court. But we are a nation of laws. When people can ignore the law because they are following a higher calling with impunity,we become an anarchy.
Don't get me wrong,I'm all for civil disobedience for a higher cause (the Berrigan brothers come to mind). But if you do the crime,do the time.It adds substance to your moral cause.

Getting back to cable news, to Jeff Zucker, I say maybe FBN would have more viewers if the cable outlets that don't carry the channel would hurry up and add to their lineup already. I'm addressing Cablevision in particular. They're moving a few channels to only be available through cable box on June 3. I'd hope that sets up FBN's addition; not to mention a few other channels I'd like added, especially on the HD side.

That's from Missy. She and others seem to be celebrating the firing of this Nolan fellow because he went after O'Rielly. Now I don't watch O'Rielly, and correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't he frequently campaign against the so-called "liberal media".

Did O'Reilly circulate unconfirmed allegations about someone else's sex life, handing out xeroxes of them at an Emmy ceremony? Sheesh. Anyone who works in the industry and did that to ANYONE else should be surprised if they weren't canned.

"unconformed allegations"
Now I've read transcripts purported to be Mr O'Rielly's conversations with Ms Mackris. Are those transcripts falsehoods?Sounds like a libel suit made in heaven. And didn't Mr O'Rielly settle that suit?
Though I agree with you that Mr Nolan certainly took the low road in his critisisms of Mr O'Rielly. He should have stuck with the high road of just things that O'Rielly said on air.IMO,that's more than enough.
And speaking of allegations, what is "..."karmabites blog all about Keith and his rather unsavory treatment of (and sub-par performance with) one of his fans in a hotel room".Never heard of this. Was it in court? Are there transcripts?
