FNC fire Roger Friedman over allegations that he "Promoted" Piracy.
"He promoted piracy. He basically suggested that viewing a stolen film is OK, which is absolutely intolerable. So we fired him," a source told me Saturday. "Fox News acted promptly on all fronts."

Didn't Hannity do the same thing during his TV show?...After all he also admitted to watching bootleg DVDs.
Will Fox terminate Hannity?

I realize that this post is pushing it, but I would like to pay tribute to the Newshounds for all that they give us. Perhaps some of you may wish to join me.

The Long Island Railroad in New York is having a contest to name two of its "dinkies" that will be placed into a railroad museum. Dinkies are small locomotives. The online entry with all details and photos of the dinkies can be found here.

Haggis - you asked questions and I answered. Why don't you back up your claim with a specific quote that clearly shows Hannity saying that viewing a "stolen film" is OK, that Hannity "promoted piracy".

Your claim Haggy.

I would be careful there Haggy with your claim that Friedman was fired. Neither Fox nor Friedman has said such a thing. You need to be careful as your previous and similar claims turn out to be spot off, such as your claim that UPS fired BOR and cancelled its advertising with him over the Alexa affair.

Now, Now Ashley!

YOOOOOOOU know that when Olby speaks 'Thruth To Power' there's no room for debate.

Never mind the real story that was put out by UPS. They must be lying! LOL!

BTW, I just was over at that Newshounds site, do they not let any opposite opinions appear in their comment box? Whoa! Very fragile egos over there. Plus, there are words printed in the comment thread that would get you tossed over here.

A blog that will rant all day about a news cable station not being fair and balanced, but they will not let a fair and balanced debate take place on their site.

It's just me but I think Haggis and Pegleg should give Mr. Dollar thanks and a tip of the cap for letting opposite views be shown and read, it seems that is NOT allowed over there at NH.

You asked a question. I answered the question. You don't like my answer, fine.

You asked the question in such a way as to slime Hannity. Typical operating procedure for you.

Hannity did not suggest that viewing a stolen film is OK. Haggy, if you can provide a quote disputing that, please do.

Got it?

By the way, I can't help but notice that you've been silent over the UPS issue.

From he who can't, won't, ignores requests to, back up his claims, goes underground hoping upon his return, popping up out of his hole, no one will see his shadow and remember all the unanswered questions, unsubstantiated claims, misrepresentations and intentionally obtuse accusations to accuse another of "violently veering off into new territory....that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand" is the epitome of a gander screwing the goose and then blaming the goose for not being chaste.

As we've come to expect, FNC is doing quite stellar in the ratings. Congrats to all of the FNC team for being #1 across the board. Besides being #1 in the demo from Beck through to Greta, I also noticed something else that just goes to show how popular FNC really is.

In total viewers:

Beck beats CNN/MSNBC COMBINED.

Baier beats CNN/MSNBC/HNN COMBINED

Shep beats CNN/MSNBC COMBINED

Bill O beats CNN/MSNBC/HNN COMBINED.

Hannity beats CNN/MSNBC/HNN COMBINED.

Greta beats CNN/MSNBC combined.

Great work to all of FNC, they continue to show why FNC is the #1 Cable News Network.

This is funny, from Haggis who only days ago stood by Keith Olbermann and told us all that KO should not apologize for false smearing.

I'm sorry Haggis, but I've got to say it, you are either purposely slanting the truth in this matter or you are completely lacking in critical thinking skills.

He never claimed to watch "pirated" DVDs. He mentioned one bootleg DVD, "Benjamin Button", which actually did not turn out to be a true "Bootleg".

In this case, it was one movie, but you would have the world falsely believe that he "Watches pirated DVDs". Your use of the word "watches" denotes past, present, and future viewing, in other words, multiple DVDs that he has viewed in the past, is viewing in the current day, and will view in the future.

Your false analysis of Hannity Advocating the illegal distribution of movies is just that, false analysis and a false argument.

Now if you have proof that Hannity illegaly downloaded or sold pirated movies, then please produce it.

Will you provide such evidence?

OS it appears your stumped on the meaning of the UPS statement. They said they had no ads running at the moment...But they never said they'll be placing ads in the future. Simple company spin...I'd have thought basic undercover skills would have trained you in how to read this sort of spin...Ask for your money back.

It's kind of fun to have HF here from time to time engaging in back and forths that I find amusing. But, after 4 or 5 posts he has added nothing to a debate that is at a dead end street.

Please Haggis, find another subject to blow out of proportion, this has become tedious and boring. Let's talk about the collapse of CNN ratings for example, which is a much more important discussion. They must make changes or will not even be a factor in the cable news rating wars.

No Haggis, that is what you got out of their statement. They also said they did not pull their advertising from Fox...I get from that that they did not respond to pressure from anyone in regards to removing FOX as a place for their advertising. If I had a wish in this dispute, that part of the statement would make me smile.

UPS is obviously being diplomatic and talking out of both sides of their mouth.

I thought you would be a bit smarter in seeing they are saying positive things to both sides of this silliness as to try not to offend either.

They obviously succeeded with you.

I personally do not see the financial sense in advertising anywhere but on FNC among the three news cablers. They are the only one with healthy numbers and with audiences willing to spend money. They also win the key demo consistantly, especially Mr. O'Reilly.

I wonder what the comparison is in advertsing rates among the three news cablers?

Bottom line on the UPS -

1) They did not pull their advertising from BOR in protest over the Alexa affair.

2) MSNBC/Keith Olbermann lied and has not retracted the comment.

3) J$ was absolutely correct when he wrote last week about the ICN website article:

That's pretty weasly wording. They don't say they're stopping, but they have no plans to continue. Which means they may have already stopped because their ad run concluded, or they decided to lay off cable ads for a while, or for some other reason predating this whole kerfuffle. Does anyone remember the last time there was a UPS ad?
johnny dollar | Homepage | 03.27.09 - 5:47 pm | #

4) Haggis' analysis was spot off when he wrote:

UPS obviously don't want their business linked to this sort of thing.
Haggis | 03.27.09 - 6:00 pm | #

5) I'm wondering how Haggis' speculation worked out for him:

Bill will be told this bad news right before recording tonight's show....Will he be able to hold his anger back....I think not....I'm fearing an ugly outburst...this could end in more trouble for the embattled showman.
Haggis | 03.27.09 - 6:44 pm | #

I wonder if J$ is still wondering:

Man I'm still reeling from that ugly outburst tonight, the one that will mean trouble for Mr Bill. You know, the one Haggis told us was coming.

The way he so casually announced his use of pirated DVDs....Most certainly didn't sound like a 1st time offender. Be interesting to know if he's seen X-men. Probably slipped into his chubby fingers by cameraman 2 during a UPS free ad break.

I just don't understand how those kooky Canadians at MACLEANS.CA can call Glen Beck crazy just because he praised the Birch John Society when he was on CNN.

How does advocating for the use of wooden toilet seats make someone mentally unstable? Sounds like a pretty weak excuse used by some loose, irregular movement just to dump on Mr. Beck.

If you ask me, it stinks.

Did you read the article or did you stop at the reference to the John Birch Society?

This kooky Canadian does not read the article as condemning of Beck as "crazy". The article suggests that Beck is trying to achieve this 'craziness on purpose', and that he is succeeding.

I'd give quotes but after yesterdays experience, I will assume they are not allowed.
