Fox Haters Week in Review

There have been several big stories recently in the Fox haters universe: we've exposed the smearing of Glenn Beck by Media Matters, along with the peculiar, arguably plagiaristic, parroting of already disproven lies by a Huffington Post writer. But there's more to report, and that's the focus of this latest edition of Fox Haters Week in Review.

Fuzzy Math
Sometimes it's difficult to say whether one is dealing with ignorance, stupidity, or rampant dementia. You decide which of these explains how someone writing at what presents itself as a responsible website would ignore the facts to churn out such ludicrous drivel:

With previous rival, Fox News, no longer a viable threat, it seems CNN’s only competition is MSNBC, which during the first quarter, surpassed CNN in prime-time viewership among adults 25-54 for the first time since its debut more tha 12 years ago.

Author! Author!
For a Fox hater, it isn't hard to find that eeevil FNC "bias" around every corner and under every bed. Over at Keith Olbermann's blog of choice, one Aldous serves up a brilliant exegesis proving Fox is a "propaganda arm of the GOP". A pair of reports on the Pittsburgh shootings get the full Kossack treatment, as Aldous serves up a dazzling analysis that uncovers every drop of Fox bias:
Yup, Ladies and Gents, the poor man was upset about losing his job and/or having a dog peeing in his house! Ofcourse [sic], the fact that both articles conflict each other should not hinder Fox!... Fox News was obligated to put these little tidbits at the middle of their article where a quick scan would have a hard time finding it.... And IF the dedicated browser DOES find it, he also gets this handy denial of responsibility...
It's hard to argue with insights so penetrating, but there is just one little thing. Why didn't Aldous bother to mention that the two articles harboring all that Fox bias weren't written by Fox at all. They are reports from that "propaganda arm of the GOP": the Associated Press!

Author! Author! Author?
As coincidence would have it, we get a similar bit of trickery from Julie, "guest blogger" at the newshounds. And it begins with one of the mutts' trademark HeadLies:
Despite FOX News' Predictions Otherwise, Obama Is "A Rock Star In England"
Wow, these predictions must have been really something to fashion an entire article around them...so what were they? Well, Julie provides the answer:
On last night's (4/1/09) O’Reilly Factor, reporter Olly Barratt was one of Bill O’Reilly’s first guests, reporting from London that President Obama is “a rock star in England...A very popular man.” That was quite a contrast to FOX News' predictions which reported Obama was rejected by the Europeans before he got there.
Funny thing about those "Fox News Predictions"...they're not Fox News predictions. The links go to pullquotes with links to the complete stories beneath. The first of these takes us to an article from The Financial Times. And the second? A report from that bastian of Fox bias, the New York Times. So where were these "Fox News predictions"? There weren't any. Julie made them up!

Black and White and Wrong All Over
One thing you don't want to do is get between Ellen Brodsky, Queen Bee of the newshounds, and her obsession with calling Sean Hannity a racist. It's nothing new. Remember how she would repeatedly insist that she saw "no black faces" in the crowd at live Hannity & Colmes events, when the pictures proved otherwise? (But whatever you do, don't ask her how many "black faces" write for the newspooches.) Now she leads off her screeds with phrases like "Bigoted Hannity". But really, can anyone blame her? Oh sure, "Hannity never directly stated any racial context", but Ellen...well, she knows. Just read the words of Sean Hannity and see the racism dripping from every syllable:
Here he is, he achieved in this country the highest office in the land. The American people elected Barack Obama. I think it says more about him that he didn't make the case...about the goodness and the greatness and the wonder of America, and he talked about Americans' arrogance... Didn't we see all of this in the campaign, and as I was bringing up. Didn't Rev. Wright give us a little insight into his thought process? Didn't, you know, Michelle Obama, 'America's a downright mean country'... Didn't we get some insight? When you sat on a board and give speeches with Bill Ayers, Do you think he harbors deep resentment that he just hides? 'Cause I believe he does.
Stunning in its bigotry! Staggering in its outright racism! Ellen has nailed Hannity yet again! And in presenting this documented proof of Sean Hannity's racial hatred, Ellen ironically introduces it with with this masterpiece of un-self-awareness:
Hannity moved in for the race card.
It's pretty apparent who the dealer was, Ms Brodsky.

Now Can We Call It 'Congenital'?
After we exposed the errors, falsehoods, and doctored quotes in Priscilla's "analysis" of an FNC segment regarding Notre Dame, one would think she would take that lesson to heart. But no. The biased bassets just can't resist lying about what Fox personnel say, and sure enough, Prissy served up an encore performance. Once again we include the video as our reference:

Of this debate between two men of the cloth, Priscilla writes:
When this gentleman spoke in favor of the decision (talked about how shouting too loud paints people into a corner), Gretchen didn’t smile.
That can be seen at 2:30 in the video. Of course when the other guest was speaking against the invitation (at 0:25 and at 1:00) Gretchen wasn't smiling there either.
She agreed with the Catholic priest that Obama speaking at Notre Dame would be like having a holocaust denier speak at the Holocaust Museum.
This one is tough to coordinate with the video, because the only time Ms Carlson references this statement by the priest is when she asks a question about it to the other guest (at 1:45). At no point does Ms Carlson ever say she agrees with the Catholic priest. Priscilla made that up! But there's one more obvious fabrication to go:
Suffice to say the Catholic priest got most of the interview time.
He did? Why does Prissy say this, when the video she presents (assembled by Media Matters) snips out a chunk of the Protestant minister's comments? The edit point is clearly marked at 0:55. Why lie about things that are so easily disproven by simply watching the video?

Tolerance and Understanding
This week's moment of tolerance and compassion comes, of course, from the newshounds. Oh this time they're not demeaning Juan Williams with racist stereotypes, or calling women the c-word, or comparing a Filipino woman to an ape. This week it was someone else's turn in the hate barrell: Downs Syndrome children. Keep in mind this comment was pre-approved for publication by those compassionate newshound moderators:

Spot something you'd like to see in the next Fox Haters Week in Review? Send us an email.

Jose Chung
I know, I know. Helen is completely wacko when it comes to any coverage of blacks. And "her obsession with calling Sean Hannity a racist," is a case in point.
There is no end to the hate boiling over in that woman. She's certifiable.

As many times as I've seen john t call johnny a liar, I'd like to see him disprove any of the exposed lies coming from his rabid mutt NH writers.

John t, isn't a liar someone who actually does the lying (your kennelmates)? Perhaps you'd like to fess up about actively being a part of a smear machine that has to fabricate stories (aka lie) about the only cable news channel that doesn't toe your political line, but lets both sides have their say.

The need to show FNC as one sided explains the chopping out of the other side in the priest video by MM, and the showing of only one side of interviews in the discredited D-class bomb your sham of a site is based on, Outfoxed.

Proceed Untersturmführer.

Jawohl!

Just as we thought. The mutts at the Kennel are not worthy adversaries and we have nothing to fear from them. With one or two exceptions they all spend their days whining, yapping and howling while running in circles chasing their own tails.

If I may speak freely, Generalfeldmarschall, I am so grateful to be back in the Vaterland.

Great big     all around.

Johnny if you think this is out of bounds zap it and put it out of it's misery.

Thank you Grammie. Report to the debriefing room immediately with your super-secret spy-cam. We want a full report on everything that went on before the inevitable (Ellen chasing you away). Oh sure, it's all public and out there for anyone to read, but we don't want to disappoint the tail-chasers who seem to think we send 'spies' onto sites to 'report' on public postings that can be read by anyone.

Hey, Pegleg, remember this?

Pegleg: "I pointed out exactly where Dollar was lying.... [vulgarity deleted]"

J$: I must have missed that, so please be specific and point to where I was "lying".

Pegleg: OTTOMH I can't remember what I was referring to, I'll have a look and get back to you later.

When you wrote that you pointed out exactly where I was lying, were you telling the truth? Or was that a lie? I've asked for documentation on this, you've ignored my request for weeks...and when documentation cannot be produced, the conclusion most logical people might reach is that your claim is a lie. I would never want to think you would lie, Pegleg, but you haven't answered the question yet. So if you didn't lie, perhaps you just made a mistake. If you were wrong, just tell us. (Or for that matter, if you were lying, you can tell us that too, though I'd hate to think a respectable commentator like you would endulge in lies.) So which is it?

Thank you for reading J$P.

No, you'll get around to it when I'm in the mood. If you're going to call me a liar you better be able to back it up, and so far you haven't. So you either document the 'lies' you pointed out, and the post where you pointed out the 'lies', or you take back what you said and admit you were wrong. Your choice. Until you do so, any other posts of yours will not go thru.

Do you really think you can willy-nilly call the administrator of this site a liar, and make it all go away by saying you'll explain yourself when you're 'in the mood'? Well, you can't.

Peggy,

It doesn't surprise me that you haven't considered that ironically portraying yourself as an uber spy "reporting back" to the personification of all dictatorial evil that is Johnny Dollar , is a bit different from using such imagery to imply similar things about SOMEONE else... but what the hell...

As to my thread-jacking, I'm kinda at a loss there. I was typing away directly responding to the subjects that OTHER PEOPLE had raised (some about me and some direct questions or comments about this site)...and had no idea that by doing so *I* was hijacking things.

Live and learn...

However, since I'm of the firm conviction that blogs are the property of their owner and that they can do with them as they please, I have no real complaints about being made to leave. I was a guest and any attempt to stay beyond my host asking me to leave their property, is trespassing.

The allusion that Ellen made about me being someone in disguise (reincarnated she said) is puzzling though. I've have never tried to disguise who I am on any blogboard.

It's all given me some things to ponder. It's occurred to me that posts do tend to sound more insidious or harsh in tone to readers if they are from a new entity to that site. Duh... Certainly if they're from someone who comes with a political identity (and in my case a cable news preference) and any ensuing assumptions people harbor based upon that.

I've been thinking too about the suggestion from someone that there be a sort of non-moderated thread here, where people can gather and debate. I think that may be an attempt to bring some people together via a neutral setting, but then it may be just someone wanting a place where it's okay to use the c-word. :D

If anyone had such a goal of trying to have a more civil discourse between the two camps, they would naturally see that the setting must be neutral. It's in Ellen's interest to keep on fisking FNC, and it's in Johnny interest to reply to those charges and to discuss cable news in general. Neither of them are in the market for making world peace, so to speak.

I'm not advocating any of this, I bring it up to say that I don't think it would work no matter the territory. I would be very surprised if anything like that could ever work in this sort of medium, unless there had been less hostility and more civility between the two blogs from the start.

For that sort of understanding between two such antipathetical groups, you have to REALLY see people. You have to sit across from them, see their quirks, look them in the eye and understand that they want the same things you do, etc.

There's no much hope for that online, although there may be someone from here who is accepted over there and vice versa at some point or another.

My husband often reminds me that this form of communication with people may expand your ability to meet people of different backgrounds and opinions, and hobnob with folks who share your passions, but it is most definitely NOT an improvement over the the REAL thing.

As always, he's right about that too.

Peggy, I'll be thinking about some of the things that have made me think by being over in your stomping grounds, girlfriend. It may make me approach people and things here differently, if only in order to insure that I not be self-referential in my expectations of folks.

Who knows. I might even start going easier on Haggis... :D

You have to understand the mindset of the Fox haters. There's nothing wrong with lying, as long as you do it to smear Fox. So Priscilla can repeatedly lie about interviews--even as the video is sitting right there proving her wrong--and that's perfectly acceptable. Ellen can let her guest blogger cite an article from the NY Times as a "Fox News prediction" of something, and that's fine. As long as it makes Fox look bad, any lie is welcome.

Cecelia,

I apologize. I was in the middle of exposing the difference between apples and hand grenades.

(cont)
Now for those unfamiliar with the comedy devices of character voice and sarcasm, allow me to ilucidate (Ilucidate!>> take your pick; either Ricky Ricardo, Chico Marx or Andy Brown)

The use of character voice in comedy acting or writing, especially when coupled with sarcasm, is a time honored tradition. Responding to the absurd words or behavior of another with equally absurd words or behavior in a ridiculous voice is an example of "Intellectual" Comedy, lacking pretension but requiring the audience don its thinking cap, bitingly satirical and overbearingly damning, with liberal use of ironic devices and sarcasm, especially when the means have a guffaw value of their own.

Grammie's mocking Sgt Schultz schtick was a gorgeous skewering of the kennel dwellers absurd taunts.

I took Anderson Cooper, a public figure, to task for absurdly stating, because he was highly educated in Soviet Union studies, "...when the wall came down, I was totally screwed,” while at the same time, getting the year wrong for the fall of the Berlin Wall, by making an absurd remark in an absurd voice.

It's clear that my original post contained two distinct voices. The youthful, smart alec, street, insulting voice and the more mature, reasoned, somewhat snarky, mocking voice.

Now, here's the kicker. For anyone to try and equate Grammie's or my humorous attempts, using character voice, to mock or ridicule purveyors of silly, sophomoric, sanctimonious statements...., to try to equate that with the vile, hurtful, degrading, vulgar, vindictive name-calling by far too many of the decency challenged, for far too long unchallenged and enabled, and permitted, even encouraged, by the one who is supposedly responsible for the NH's content, goes beyond the Outer Limits of reality, past the Twilight Zone, right into Looney Tunes.

Golly, if it's in quotation marks and the Aldous article is about FOX News, then someone at FOX News must have said those things. Hey, I get it, former Thai Prime Minister, Thaksin Shinawatra, and Rep. Michelle Bachmann have joined FNC as a contributers.

First, Guest Blogger Julie credits FNC with "predictions" FOX News NEVER made in order to discredit FNC. Then the resident researcher, Paige PbD provides extensive documentation to prove the "prediction" FOX News NEVER made is incorrect:

That was quite a contrast to FOX News' predictions which reported Obama was rejected by the Europeans before he got there.
---------------------------------

uh, before he got there, FOX...

[insert excerpts and 6 links to stories reporting the President's and First Lady's popularity in Europe]

So, Julie, a little research for your article would've hurt?

And Paige, a little research of Julie's article would've killed you?

All the time spent, all the effort expended, just to prove FOX News was wrong for making a prediction they NEVER made!!!

It boggles the mind.

It's whta they do best. Find some small crumb of information and use it to smear the Fox people. They are not very original.

I can watch some of the Fox talk shows and pretty much write the News Nuts headline for the next morning.

""Having then excerted herself to such a degree it is completely unfair to expect Julie to then read something which demonstatably blows her set in concrete preconception to hell and beyond..

That would take at least four or five functioning brain cells and based on Julie's prior performances I think she may be a little short in that department.

This coming from someone that liked to lecture us over here about insulting people.

Although I only considered my brain cell comment as a very sharp analogy implying either a lack of intellect or the dishonest use of her intellect Visitor 55 seems to think that was an insult of such magnitude and vulgarity as to firmly put me in the top tier of hypocrasy.

With that in mind I apologize to Julie and anyone else who was offended by my outrageous remerk. I do, however, still think there is cause for complaint re Julie's article so I will cut and paste using terminology from NH with all the reference instead being applicable to Julie instead of the original target.

"you think anyone at The Kennel (Fux) read this? the mutts ( foxettes) only know how to read a propter. written by Ellen (ailes) and thugs........."

"Yet there are plenty of morons continuing to bitch and moan about The Financial Times and The New York Times (MSNBC) posting their righteous anger in various sites.....

"No kidding, claudo. It's very creepy how obsessed the idiots are with Fox News (Olbermann)...especially that dumbshit Julie (os/orange one/os the legend/sucks olby.)............

There, I do feel so much better now that I've replaced my unbelievably vulgar and outragious brain cell insult with the more acceptable light hearted banter so popular by the mutts at The Kennel.

More brilliance from john t:

Here's a topic from Dollar's site:
-----------------------

Fox Haters Week in Review
There have been several big stories recently in the Fox haters universe: the smearing of Glenn Beck by Media Matters,
-----------------------

In it he accuses Media Matters of lying to smear Beck. Yet he doesn't give any details about how they lied. In fact, he doesn't bring up any proof that they lied. I guess to his small flock, as long as Dollar say's it, it's got to be true. Him and his Dollarites will tell you he is God.

Apparently john t missed the fact that the smearing of Beck was a link, despite the giveaway underline and colored font. A link which leads you to an entire article describing the omission of facts from MM made to misrepresent what was actually said.

John t: either ignorant to what a link is, liar, or both.

Those new-fangled links, they're just too complicated for john t to understand. But actually, FF, your last sentence sums it up perfectly.

Little johnny t is too ignorant to lie.
He just says stuff without much of a thought process.

He's the same dope that was in complete denial, claiming that Tom Daschle was NOT the Senate Majority Leader from 2001-2003.

Ignorant, liar, or both? Tough choice.

Although I have virtually no respect for Waxman, I must say it's rather cruel towards the man by id'ing him as the little one. That's a terrible insult!!!!
