Hey Blackhead, you're doing exactly what you accuse the Newshounds of doing: selective editing and lying. This is the full quote, which was taken from a thread where some Brit dude came on and dissed Americans, and an American dissed the UK back:

ET is one of the most fair-minded people I have ever encounterd on the internet -- unlike yourself. You are the rightwing equivalent of what you accuse the Newshounds of being, on a daily, if not hourly, basis.
You've become what you hate (and are obsessed with, apparently), but without the sense of humor or irony.

The difference being that the NYT canteen does not put their conversations on a loud speaker that can be heard for miles around. If you want to keep your forum converstions private then don't allow non-members to view it. If you are unwilling to do that, then don't do what female mutts do when someone refers to what is being said publicly on your forum.
I know. I know. You've probably got some ad hominem response to what I just said that is devoid of any intellectual content. The sad thing is that you are so deluded that you think such responses are sound argumentation and are the epitome of fairness. Truly, I pity you.

Why Danny, I don't have to call names. I've seen a lot of your comments and I think you do enough of it to suffice for everyone here AND a couple of other blogs as as well! You really should learn to keep your temper under control. And that is not an "ad hominem" reply to the substantive issue, that is a direct response to your unpleasant and unfounded personal remarks to me, and a comment on what I've seen of you here in the past.
Now, on the topic at hand, I have a sensible reply to your comment to me. First of all, nobody at the Forum is interested in keeping the conversations private or they would use the pm's instead. Do you know what the original meaning of forum is? In ancient Rome it was a public place for debate. Last time I looked it still was. I suspect the Newshound regulars are well aware of this.
My objections to Blackflon's comment are twofold: one, it just seems kind of pathetic to me that he is so obsessed with having to have something bitchy to say about Newshounds every single day (in boldface and right at the top of the thread of possible) that when he can't find something to complain about in a NH post on the mains he goes to the forum to see if he can find anything there.
Secondly, he chose the wrong person to complain about. ET is not a Newshound. She is a commenter, and one who seldom comments on the mains. She is a gentle soul whose main interests are her family, and arts and crafts. She chats on the forum and is usually a peacemaker.
More importantly. he took her quote out of context. She was defending America and Americans from someone, a Brit I think, who was attacking all Americans, quote: "You Americans are a f***ing joke". It seems very mean-spirited to hijack a well-meaning remark from a nice person who was defending America and Americans against a nasty comment by a foreigner, in order to attack the Newshounds. And you have to admit, what Blackie did was really a stretch.
Its also very ironic, as I said: he is doing the same thing that he accuses Newshounds of doing. Glass houses, pot /kettle - take your pick. I think that's where the humour and irony lie. Oh, and by the way, you should read Kierkegaard on irony some time.
Did I say Newshounds doesn't sometimes tar people with a broad brush? No I didn't. You must learn to read more carefully, Danny. And write more carefully too. In general, your comments here would be much easier to read if one didn't have to wade through a cesspool of invective - to say nothing of ad hominems aplenty! - in order to do so.

Re. your first point: Man, talk about the pot calling the Kettle black. Still more hypocrisy on your part. I not sure I can stand it. This is exactly what Newhounds does with Fox on a regular basis. They look for any little thing about fox that they can magnify and blow up to a full fledged attack. Newshounds lie; they smear; the deal in unsubstantiated accusations and rumors. when someone goes to the Newshounds site and tries to present a different POV, they are reviled and attacked. They are censored and even banned just for expressing a different point of view. Bob of PlanetofBob is a good example of this. All he wanted was an intellectual debate; similar to what he had experienced on another site. Instead he has been pilloried on the mains and in your forum. It is humorous to see people accuse Bob of making a specific insulting statement, and he repeatedly says, "no I never said anything like that." It is time for you and others at newshounds to quit projecting your faults on Bob, Johnny, myself and any other person your target. It is time for you to admit that that the cesspool of invective is non others than newshounds; that Newshounds is nothing but a putrid sewer that stinks up the internet; that it should be drained.

I really appreciate what Backfon is doing. If I had the time, I would begin a website entitled Newshounds sucks and do nothing but savage each of the moronic articles that are written there. It is about time that someone turned the tables on them.
You contradict yourself by suggesting that the forum should be off-limits; this after you have conceded that the forum is a public debate and that everyone knows that. So, why do you continue to bitch about commenting on people's public statements?
Re: your second point. I concede that I do not know much about ET; although I wonder what a nice, gentle person is doing in the Hellhole that is Newshounds. All that Blackfon said was: It is ironic that a commenter at Newshounds would complain about someone's painting with a broad brush, when Newshounds does this all of the time. It is smart of you not to deny that Newshounds paints with a broad brush; because if you said it was not true, you could never defend that proposition.
I don't get your argument that Blackfon was doing the same thing he accuses Newshounds of doing. Blackfon made a specific comment about a specific statment that a commenter made. He said the comment was ironic and I agree. You yourself don't deny the charge that Newshounds does tar with a broad brush. So please explain how you arrive at the conclusion that Blackfon was tarring with a broad brush. I don't see it.
I have read Kierkegaard; though I don't recall reading his views on ironly. I thought his essay on Abraham was really interesting. Kierkegaard was a smart man; pehaps you had better read him again.

I said that you made a false analogy; that the forum is public while the canteen conversations are private.
Then you actually made my argument for me, pointing out that a forum is a public disciussion and that everyone who participates should know that; thus you defeated your own argument that private canteen discussions and forum discussions are the same. Now weren't you a silly billy?

I can read Kierkegaard, and I can follow a simple argument. You, however, have proven that someone can read Kierkegaard and not only not be able to follow or make a simple argument, but be so oblivious to your own arguments that you fall all over yourself spewing self contradictions. I wonder if the NYPost was tipped off by a CNN staffer or if this is just pure speculation. There is no doubt that CNN has a huge problem in Brown and her lack of any audience at 8pm. I think CNN will be forced to face the "Brown Situation" before the November election and the reason won't be Senor's candidacy.
