I do not think Beck was making a moral equivalency argument here....He simply argued that if you're a journalist and quiet now about government authority classifying a news gathering group as "opposition," what can you do when you are treated as such? The extreme example of human nature (it was ok when it was that group, but do not treat me the same poor way) is the old Niemöller quote about Germany's minorities (Communists, Jews, unionists, Catholics....).

I personally think Beck is safer simply mocking Obama and the rest of the narcissistic and thin-skinned administration.

It warms the cockles of my heart to witness the countless, prominent members of the press, putting aside their competitive natures and ideological differences, rallying in support of Fox News in the letter and the spirit of the 1st Amendment free press clause; and establishing a sense of unity for the reaffirmation of their obligation and responsibility as individual parts of a free , independent and unfettered press, to, as the Society of Professional Journalist Code of Ethics put so eloquently, "Be vigilant and courageous about holding those with power accountable."

A highly-respected and brilliant journalist in giving the keynote address at the National Conference for Media Reform Conference in Minneapolis on June 7, 2008, said,
"Sadly, in many respects, the Fourth Estate has become the fifth column of democracy, colluding with the powers that be in a culture of deception that subverts the thing most necessary to freedom, and that is the truth."
"But we’re not alone and we know what we need to say. So let us all go tell it on the mountains and in the cities. From our websites and laptops, the street corners and coffeehouses, the delis and diners, the factory floors and the bookstores. On campus, at the mall, the synagogue, sanctuary and mosque, let’s tell it where we can, when we can and while we still can."
"Democracy only works when ordinary people claim it as their own."

Everyone should go to Michelle Malkin's blog, the "M" for Misogyny item. It is a major hat tip to J$ and OW. Congrats Johnny.

what a hypocrite Olbermann is:

Opening this evening's Countdown, Olbermann said that Rush Limbaugh's observation that Glenn Beck was the result of his success "is like congratulating yourself for spreading syphyllis."

And he talks about OTHERS hate speech

I'll game, Chris and FF, with one exception.

Last time I did the Turkey Trot with that Wild Turkey I wound up with a most puzzling tatto and got teased to no end at the Bingo Parlor. So if its all the same to you two I'll soar around with the Grey Goose while holding on tightly to both my canes.

Grammie,

Give up those walking sticks girl. Time to enter the 21st Century. Put a leash on your Goose, trade in the Turkey Trot for the Fox Trot, and hold on tight to the best way to get from one place to another since Mom pushed and we rode in our baby carriage.
