Good piece from Britt Combs. Although, I disagree with one part. Rush does have guests or callers on that disagree. Olbermann, never.

"I think it's fair to say that I don't always get my most favorable coverage on Fox, but that's part of how a democracy is supposed to work. We're not all supposed to be in lock step here." Barack Obama 2/3/09

###
At last, President Obama, is coming to terms with the reality that our county's need for a free and objective press is absolute!

Let's hope his fringe left base comes to the same simple conclusion instead of the radical position that lead to boycotts and other stupidity.

Hilarious - KO has "ZERO" power in the Democratic party - as it should be. The republican party on the other hand is "ruled" by a radio talk show host - "Rush Limbaugh". Pathetic - and it is, was, will be their downfall... I reiterate - the republicans have handed over the "true" power in their party to a radio talk show host. Even Newt, who doesn't have a seat to lose, is telling Rush to cool it. He's positioned to...

1st video - Carville (yes, Carville) has it pretty much right on this one - he's only pointing out the obvious.

2nd video - GOP Rep. Phil Gingrey pathetically groveling, on-air, for forgiveness for daring to queston the mighty Rush.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/02/03/carville-rush-limbaugh-is_n_163684.html

The GOP is lost...
|
Don't like Carville or The Huffington Post as a source? How bout Fox News?

Limbaugh Cracks the Whip, and Republicans Get in Line

Conservative talk show hosts are keeping pressure on Republican leaders to oppose the economic stimulus plan and rallying the base in the meantime.

...The minority whip appears to be someone who has never won an election.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/first100days/2009/01/29/limbaughs-talk-crack-gop-whip-stimulus/
|
Last time I checked - nobody ever voted for "Rush Limbaugh", yet he's the one calling the shots in the GOP. Giving this kind of power - with GOP elected officials pathetically begging for forgiveness for daring to cross him, to a high-profile polarizing figure like Rush Limbaugh will be to the GOP's detriment. It's also to the nation's detriment (that whole power without responsibility or accountability thing... we can vote elected officials out of office when they screw up. Not much we can do about Rush... For example - the stimulus package doesn't pass because of Rush's influence... nation plunges into a depression the likes of which we haven't seen since the 30's... Republicans lose more seats... Multimillionaire Rush? Sits back and laughs - makes up some excuse, blames the dems, whatever. Bobble-heads continue to do what they do, bob their brainless bobbleheads as they listen...)

Scary...

Britt Combs: Is Keith Olbermann the "Worst Person in the World?"
The shocking truth.

By Britt Combs | The McDowell News

Published: February 3, 2009

Last week we discussed Rush Limbaugh and his impact on Republican fortunes. We learned he was largely responsible for shaping and articulating an ideology that led to victory for his party in 1994-95.
|

My post was in response to the link you posted, which discussed KO in comparison to Rush... "This week we will discuss the ascension of his counterpart, MSNBC's leading uber-Democrat Keith Olbermann. Since Rush became prominent in about 1990, the Democratics have desperately sought someone to counter him."
|
KO isn't funny - that's subjective; he's entitled to his opinion. But Rush is?? "Their (democrats) innate rage often prevents them maintaining the light hearted sense of proportion a host must have if an audience will tune in daily." Yes, Rush should do stand-up and is free of "innate rage". His Michael J Fox bit was a knee slapper. And how 'bout he called a 12 year old Chelsea Clinton the White House dog? Hilarious!

Post a civil dissenting opinion, like mine. If you choose to "name call" direct it at a public figure... Don't react to their reaction - like I didn't (for the most part) here recently, stay on-topic and your post should "stick". Try it, see if you get banned or have posts deleted... Betchya don't. Incidently, I've had a fair number of posts deleted or not show up here too.

Now Bill's engaging in a new war against the NYT. I'd like to know if there's a site....or maybe Johnny has this info to hand....that shows all the wars Bill is currently engaged in + all past wars....It would also be intresting to see what the overall outcome of these wars were and how ongoing wars are currently standing.
Anyone know of such a site?

More interesting analysis from Haggis.

He's so afraid for KOs plummeting ratings that he goes on an absurd commentary about "fair and balanced" ratings. Then he talks about listening to Rush Limbaugh today. Rush Limbaugh was on vacation today.

Haggis is losing it! KOs ratings are dropping! BORs ratings are going up! SHs ratings are going up! And now we anxiously await Haggis' comdemnation of Pegleg Peggy referring to a black man as a house negro.

More pathetically weak analysis from Haggis. Thanks to my DVR, I can rewind and give you a verbim quote.

During the Dick Morris segment, where they discuss the similarities between Obama's and Bill Clinton's early days.

Bill says "One thing I don't understand about him (Obama) and I'm not rooting against him, I know some people are but I'm not". BOR then goes on to compliment BHO on many things then phrased his issue with Obama.

At no point did BOR mention "talk radio" or "republicans" as Haggis mentioned above.

I find it interesting to read Haggis' speculation about what BOR would do, posted at 8:22 PM eastern time on Feb 4, 2009 when a mere 37 minutes earlier he said:

Why this obsession with ratings? Conservatives like their ideologies restated back to them - over, and over. Rush discovered this, and Clear Channel and Murdoch exploited it... Hence you have "conservative media".

"The Normal Majority" doesn't need their ideologies restated back to them over and over... I have no interest in listening to Air America, watching KO, Maddow. None. I'll tune in for a minute or two channel surfing - tops. Lots of folks on the other side are like this...

So - if you're MSNBC, Murdoch is working "the conservative side of the street", you're late to the party. The national news and CNN have cater to "The Normal Majority". So - they try to eek out some ratings on the left. If I was MSNBC I'm not sure what my stratergy would be.

MSNBC is kinda unnecessary, imo.

Huge assumption, there Cece, and one that's clearly incorrect. So "Hannity" represents the majority views on most issues? "O'Reilly"? Coulter - based on book sales? Is that why they're on cable channel 77? Or AM radio next to some insane preacher speaking in tongues? Ratings on a cable news channel or Arbitron for AM radio do not represent whether something "represents the majority view". Conservative media serves a niche market - a sizable niche, but niche none the less. And they're "good customers" tuning in night after night, buying all their books... etc.

Oh, no argument about conservative media being a niche market. Most people are not political junkies like we folks who frequent online blogs and such.

But issue-by-issue, I'd wager that conservative views stack up to be more widely held by the majority pop. than those of the hosts of Air America and its former host Rachel Maddow.
