The "What Went Wrong" article was pretty powerful stuff. Too often, "deaths" of the well-known are reported incorrectly. It seems like yesterday that Dan Rather was reporting the death of WH Press Secretary James Brady in March of 81. As much at fault is the media when this occurs, we the viewer are at fault in a way because of our desire to know what is going on RIGHT NOW.
Well done to Chad Pergram for writing the piece, and well done to Greta for sharing it with us.

Folks, be sure to check out the MSNBC Moves Left article.
For the fox haters who cite "THE" demo for the Keith "C" Olbermann claiming that MESS-NBC does better with the advertisors, please make note of the staggering variance between what they collect and what FNC collects in advertising revenue. The idea that FNC earns more than CNN and CNN-HN together, sends a Chris Matthews type tickle up my leg. Woo HOO!

Keith's probably ticked at the Times today over this article, since it fails to parrot his and MSNBC's talking points that "Countdown" is a regular news program without any bias towards the left.

I am very uncomfortable with television networks' refusing to carry political commercials; because the network doesn't like the commercial. I believe that freedom of speech is very important in political campaigns. There may be a point in which a commercial "crosses the line." For example, if a commercial accused a candidate of being a child molester, with no justification, the network would be right in not running that commercial.
The Ayers commercial did not "cross any lines." Actually, I think that Obama's association with Ayers is something that voters should consider when casting their ballots.
On a brighter note, I guess this disproves the notion that Fox is in the tank for McCain. Had that been the case Fox would have almost certainly run the Ayers commercial.

They'd probably break in later, and couldn't stay on it because they'd have to show the end of whatever event they're on. Plus it would irritate sports viewers, and the announcement would come at a time when no news viewers were watching.
So yeah, they'd break in, but they wouldn't get the kind of coverage, or the audience, that they want.

I'm not a Constitutional lawyer, but I play one on-line.
The freedom of speech protection (which is primarily to protect political speech) in the 1st Amendment doesn't guarantee the rights of anyone to speak, or air a commercial, on television. The 1st Amendment prohibits Congress from passing a law that infringes on free speech, plus a few other really cool things.
Regarding FNC rejecting the commercial, it happens all the time by every form of the media, all across the country. I would be more uncomfortable with the government requiring the media to run any kind of ad or commercial. The 1st Amendment also covers freedom of the press.

If you will reread my post, you will find that I did not mention laws or the legal system. All my comments were couched in terms of what is right and wrong.
I do think that networks violate the PRINCIPLE of free speech when they (without an EXTREMELY GOOD REASON) censor the content of ads they will run. I also think the practice MAY run afoul of anti-trust regulations; that is, news networks (either formally or informally) should not be working together to censor political ads.
Fox Friend earlier gave a convincing link that shows all media employees (including those of Fox) have given an insanely larger amount to the Obama campaign than to the McCain campaign. I am reminded of the proverb, "Where your treasure is; there will your heart be also."
If there is any truth to that proverb, Fox Friend has offered really convincing evidence that there is a liberal media bias running through ALL media (including Fox).
I hope that the refusal to run this campaign ad is not a further symptom of this bias.
At any rate, this episode should prove once and for all that Fox is not in the tank for Obama.

Well yes Msnbc has called Obama/Osama but why do people like Doocy have to say Barack Hussein Obama (although it is his middle name he does it sacarstically and he does it for spin) Did MSNBC use a picture, did Fox call a hand gesture something else, because soon when Barack and Michelle are kissing on stage after he beats McCain, it will be the Terrorist Kiss Goodbye to fox and their biased coverage.

Ashley, don't let Patrick goad you into responding to illogical conjectured off-topic personal attacks.
Patrick, I thought you were more mature than that.

FF - you are right, I was just breaking Haggys chops. I have to laugh at the little one, patrick, the poor feller just can't tell the difference between weeks and months. BTW Patrick - I wasn't correcting anyone spelling, in fact, you will see if you read back on previous threads, I've mocked my own inability to spell Chezchosolvakia, or however you spell it. You know the word, as in Keith "Chezchoslovakia" Olbermann.

Shep Smith in the studio until 2:00 am to report on the Biden pick. He's a hard-worker (Smith, but Biden too).

Cheers FF...I'm glad to see someone is laid back enough...Not take everything 110% seriously.
