Well, just listen to it without watching.

Anyway, I had no idea that that moron named young Doocy WPITW until I heard Steve Doocy's rant this a.m. How DARE Olbermann go after a guy's kid?

The kid said nothing political; it was just light-hearted questioning. Keith is as low as they come.

Lets not pay too mutch attention to it being in sync. Doosy's message was clear pertaining to his outrage that MSNBC, specifically Keith Olberman has taken yet another step lower, and is now attacking the children of Fox News. In other words, I hate your father, therefore I hate you. Each time I wonder how much lower Olberman can get, he manages to surprise me again.

Now before anyone runs off with "two wrongs don't make a right" or "apples and oranges',I think Keith's WPITW piece was tasteless and stupid.Young Doocy is not a child, and I'm sure would resent being refered to as such.
But I do think that Keith crossed the line.
I also think that Doocy's kid asking an inane question was, well, inane. And Fox and Doocy using the footage was also rather lame (Would you encourage your kid to appear foolish on national TV).And there are much more important things to talk about.

In sum,I think this pissing match between O'Reilly,Keith,Fox and NBC is a ploy for ratings and a waste of the viewers time.

Thanks, Missy. So now in watching the 2 Doocey segments (young Doocey asking McCain to do a shot and young Doocey conducting a panel discussion with the sole purpose of asking one question and rehashing the Reverend Wright-Obama ties), and then Olbermann's piece, don't you think li'l Doocey is fair game? He didn't ask for a general opinion on Rev. Wright and his impact on their voting, he went much further. I also doubt he had any intention of asking a similar question about McCain and his ties to that Haege cat or Falwell and Robertson. So contrived and misleading. Maybe not WPITW, but def' a total tool, the both of them.

You watched that segment? The whole thing, all the questions and all the answers? Or you watched Olbermann cherry picking one question without any of the reactions, exchanges, or other parts of the two segments of Q&A Doocy did with the Villanova students?

In other words, did you see what actually was broadcast, or only what Keith wanted you to see?

I saw the segment in real time as it was broadcast live and your statement is factually WRONG, or as "some people" would screech a LYING LIE. I know. That was a nasty way to put it but I recently spent a few hours with the curs at the Kennel and my deprogramming is not complete yet.

Face it. KO uses his air time to personally beat up on any he perceives as his enemies or standing in his way to his just due as the new and improved Edward R Murrow . He is not particular at all about the truth of it but if it serves to build himself up at the expense of others irregardless of the facts or significance he will wallow down in the dirt while he aimlessly throws it.

You are comparing apples and oranges.

The DNC found, recruited and put forth front and center nationally on multiple media outlets the young boy and his family's story that went on for several days.

Steeve Doocy used his influence at his workplace, after he got some media attention for his question at Villanova ? to get his young man/boy son some face time on a popular morning show It would have ended there except for KO. He is incapable of letting any opportunity, no matter how far fetched, to pass any chance by to stick it to his perceived oppressors through any conduit.

I didn't read Malkin's piece but I think the particulars about the boy were out of bounds while the status and decisions his parents made were fair game. The Dems exposed them to the scrutiny and it would be totally unreasonable to not expect others to question the lesson that his story purported to illustrate.

I watched all three segments of li'l Petey D, Olbermann's WPITW rebuttal, and then Steve D's rebuttal. Olbermann's 'bit' is to attack Fox. I get that. Doocey's lashing back is no different. 'He attacks people's kids.' No, he attacked your budding pundit of a son. Li'l Petey D wasn't asking light hearted, feel-good feature questions, he was going with the 'talking points.' I send my 3-yr-old off to pre-school every day with talking points and if he can dish it, I expect him to take it. I'm just sayin'.

I read a blog post at Redstate about Graeme Frost and his family that would have curled your hair.Something about the family swinging from lampposts and eaten by ravens. The Baltimore Sun even picked it up.

As for politicians using children to make a point, how about the "snowflake babies" that Pres Bush appeared with.Would it have been right for blogs to pummel them and their family, investigate and lie about the familys's house and income,as happened with Graeme Frost and his family.

It was one of the cruelest displays of partisan rancor I have ever seen, and I remember Nixon.

J$,
li'l Petey didn't ask "why are you supporting Obama" and, instead, asked "how do you suppose he'll change when he can't even change churches after hearing what his pastor said" and something else. I'm paraphrasing, now. He didn't even ask something less pointed like "do you think Obama's pastor's remarks have hurt his chances?" His question contained the opinion and 'talking point' all in one. Is he asking if they think Obama can truly change or if he should change his church, or that he should further admonish Rev. Wright? Pete Doocey purposely and knowingly inserted himself into the punditry world and my point is that he deserves his lumps. Olbermann didn't mention that dorky pumpkin pie haircut Pete was sporting, so he obviously wasn't simply attacking for attackings sake.

Olbermann's a tool, too. Don't get me wrong. They're all tools.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you. I was under the impression that you had watched both of these segments in full. Perhaps you can post the links to where you watched them, everyone can view them in full, and then see for themselves exactly what all the questions and answers were.

Well that is, at most, half the story, because it's just a portion of the Villanova discussion. The second part went on to discuss McCain. And as I recall there was a wrap-up segment with the students at the very end of the show (actually that would make THREE segments total).

So how was his questioning about Obama any diffrerent than his questioning about McCain?

If everyone watches the second link above, I'm sure you can all judge for yourself that Pete Doocey is not an innocent victim of Olbermann's wrath. His question was pointed in the masterful way Fox asks questions.

As I said, he (Peter) interjects opinion and politics into the Obama questions. Its obvious. I can't track down the 2nd segment but I wanted to watch it again to see if maybe I missed something. I'm certain, however, he did not ask about McCain's ties to Pat Robertson and that hateful Hagee. I'm happy to post those clips if you haven't seen McCain happily accepting the endorsement of these fear and hate mongers.

Again, Peter Doocey, with what he did and what he asked, made himself fair game. Olbermann is a jack-A in many other ways, but its not like he was attacking a little boy scout who was simply doing a class project.
May 21, 2008, 3:51:53 PM EDT – Like – Reply

johnny dollar
Well, McCain could hardly be asked about changing churches since, to my knowledge, he was never a member of their churches. And your clips of McCain accepting endorsements would be irrelevant to any cable news issue so don't bother posting links to that.

You object to his "pointed" questions about Obama (because pointed questions are apparently a journalistic evil for some reason) but then when he asks about McCain's age, well, that doesn't matter. The rule apparently is: pointed questions about Obama: Bad. Pointed questions about McCain: Irrelevant.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but there's a reason the blue blogs that were Olbermann's source only focused on the questions re Obama and not those re McCain. My only point is, cherry-picking one question out of more than a dozen as proof of something or other is anecdotal meaninglessness. Questions asked OF Obama in the debates were just as pointed as that one question (out of a dozen) P Doocy asked.

Obviously we're arguing two different things. I'm arguing that Pete Doocey and father Steve are not victims and Olbermann isn't needlessly bullying them. Olbermann wasn't stretching to go after Fox's newest pundit.

My point ...don't vilify Olbermann for attacking poor li'l Pete Doocey. Grandma Midwesterly is going to watch Steve Doocey attack Olbermann and then tell her friends at the knitting circle that, "that Kent Olbermann is just horrible. I heard he said horrible things about Steve Doocey's son." You know old ladies won't get the names right, or the facts. They'll just imagine that mean old Kieth was making fun of Steve's son because he's overweight or a late bloomer. They won't realize Peter opened himself up.

I won't argue MSNBC, ABC, and Fox all ask different questions in different ways to their horse in the race. That's all. I can't wait for the next topic.

Actually, RJ, Keith Olbermann long ago won the World Wide Stupidest Man on TV belt and it's been soldered around his girth.

Let me assure you that we have heard your brilliant and insightful mantra, essentially chanting that the only thing germane to the discussion is that someone who hosts a cable news show let their kid go on tv to poll a college audience and this therefore made the kid fair game.

As compelling as it is for you to repeat and to repeat this statement in the face of any other objection...it may come as a shock to you that it is not the all-purpose answer you wish it to be.

Yes, RJ, there are other considerations here. If they're too much for you to wrap your mind around, I suggest you take an excedrin and take them slowly over the next couple of days...

There actually is the question of whether it's particularly fitting for a journalist to suggest that young Doocey's question itself was so partisan that he is pegged merely for asking it. Particularly when the journalist's colleagues have asked the question too. And since it is an obvious and logical question-- if Obama condemns his pastor's extreme beliefs, why did he continue to attend his church for 20 years and logical too to ask an audience if they feel Obama's response to it has been plausible, don't Olbermann's objections to this question peg Olbermann rather than Doocey? Doesn't this mountain out of a molehil response expose him?

RJ, don't Olbermann's objections show him to be someone who isn't just partisan to extent of wanting the most trivial of punches pulled for a political candidate, but more to the point, someone who is willing to take a very personal animus towards an old employer and professional competitor to the point that is beyond petty and firmly planted into the territory of spiteful opportunism and vengeful hatred.

Yes, it does, RJ, and all the chanting that the kid was fair game, doesn't change that. Olbermann's willingness not to "punch up" but to storm full throttle into the most puffy of puff piece morning segments in order to gleefully smack the son of a Fox employer, says all there is to say about the man.

I'm afraid that's a consideration you've missed, RJ. Other's haven't.

This is Fox Channel, the same people that resurface old news as news. Racists pieces of stuff that refuse to go where they belong. Bill O'Reilly sexually harassed someone going into his 60s, (currently 58 years old) back in 2004 he was 55 harassing a then 23 year old former Fox News Television Producer. Then Bill spouts off about how an 11 year old had fun being kidnapped because it was a lot more fun than what he had under his own parents. That plus his scandal, what appeared to be him creaming his pants when he was asking Amy Polumbo about her sexy photos, then throw in Miley Cyrus conference that he wanted to hold. That now that would should make mothers and fathers alike protect their kids from O'Reilly.

Just for the record gayle, Olbermann is 49 so him being 60 was way off course. Oh I don't know about 11 years.
