'Alan Colmes, You're a Great American'

J$P Video! Alan signs off the last Hannity & Colmes:

From Hannity & Colmes, January 9 2009

Ashley
Very sad to see H&C go. It's been a great show, I've been a viewer since the beginning. I'm glad I was watching then, in the early days both Sean and Alan were able to reply to eMails. In 1998, I wrote an email to Sean regarding Bill Clinton. At this time, H&C had a viewer email segment at the end of the show and I was fortunate to have the show air my email, with a verbal response from both Alan and Sean.

Best of luck to Alan. I'll be watching for him on FNC. I feel bad for him that his fellow liberals, who claim to be tolerant, (but are actually only tolerant of people who think like them) treat him so badly. they are kind of, intolerant.

Hey, thanks for snagging that video. I missed the last episode so I was glad I was able to see the last few minutes.

Alan Colmes was the professional wrestler that gets paid to lose.

Not once did Colmes point out Hannity's extensive use of logical fallacies.

Alan Colmes, a Foxs News "liberal"... little more than a milquetoast moderate, paid to be a right-wing punching bag.

Ashley you say, liberals "treat him so badly"
You have to be kidding here...Have you ever read he Right Wing hate mail...that poor Alan has to put up with?....daily!

I don't see H&C every often (starts 2am UK time) but Alan did a great job under difficult circumstances...You Just need to watch the Colbert segment with Alan only getting a wee seat...This shows graphically what poor Alan was up against on H&C.

Jon, nothing could be further from the truth. Did you ever even watch?

I wholeheartedly welcome Hannity without Colmes. Hannity's America was a better show than H&C. Not to say that I didn't enjoy H&C or that Hannity is supposed to be a Hannity's America doppleganger, I'm saying that the new show promises potential.

I agree with Jon that Colmes was a milquetoast character but disagree that he was in any way a moderate.

"Not once did Colmes point out Hannity's extensive use of logical fallacies"

Sorry Jon, but you are clearly incorrect. Example:

When news broke of the Edwards affair, Hannity suggested the candidate’s personal failings made him unfit for public service When co-host Alan Colmes pointedly asked, “How can we trust John McCain” who “cheated, by his own admission, on his first wife,” Hannity quickly made excuses, explaining that it happened “30 years ago after five-and-a-half years in a prisoner of war camp.”

Johnny, that is very true. But I think jon was hoping Alan would've done this sort of thing nightly...After all it's not very difficult to show what utter nonsense Hannity speaks....just like your example.

First of all, you admitted you don't watch so you have no idea what happens nightly. Second of all, Hannity doesn't point out Colmes's lapses in logic on a nightly basis either. That's because the program was structured for the two hosts to question guests, not each other. Such interactions were in fact an exception rather than a rule because other than 30 seconds at the end, all the time on the show was divided and assigned to either Hannity or Colmes. There were no H&C combined time segments.

It really helps to actually watch a program you are critiquing, even if it means you have to deal with that pesky first-hand knowledge of what you're talking about.

Hannity wouldn't know an illogical thought if it slapped him square in the kipper. I see plenty H&C via YouTube and from that knowledge I find myself to be perfectly competent in commenting on H&C

I also thought FNC might have at least given Alan a cake or something to show they (FNC) appreciated his efforts over the last 12 years....But nothing!

Ashley, I still maintain I was right over that little skirmish. Bill had called the girl "the patriot"....He may not have said the words himself....But he squarely placed Obama in the only other section left...The pinhead section. So hence implying Obama was the pinhead....No need for him to say it.

"he squarely placed Obama in the only other section left.."

Along with several other people. And squarely called someone OTHER THAN OBAMA (people who don't eat peach cobbler...yes, it was a joke item) the pinhead. Next you'll complain if Obama's name comes up at all anywhere in the hour, because that means he's calling him a pinhead...even when he obviously isn't.

You aren't doing yourself any good by defending this smear.

PS: This is why I specified "deceitful" elf.

My last comment on this.
Johnny, Do you believe Bill would have shown that video if Obama hadn't been in it? Why would he want to tell folk they were pinheads for not leaving space for peach cobbler.....Which looked disgusting anyway....Sorry Barak. The whole purpose of showing the video was to make Obama look bad....Notice how Bill slipped in about Obama being a food critique....Just another little dig...You learn how to spot them after a while.

You'd have thought then would've been a good time to done a short bit to camera with Bush congratulating Alan for work well done. just wondering.

Hannity is a joke - complete idiot. His argumentation style is to shout over any guest with whom he disagrees, and could be used as a living example of "logical fallacy" in a philosophy or rhetoric class. Hannity and his ilk will insure that "so-called" conservatism stays were it belongs - on crackle-y AM radio stations next to some moron speaking in tongues, and on cable channel 197. The RW needs to re-think their association with the likes of Hannity and Coulter. Feed "the base" (of clowns) at your own risk. The Chinese knot you're in is the more you feed the base, the more you alienate and outright disgust "The Normal Majority" (regular people who aren't conservative cretins). The AM hate-jocks have outlived their usefulness to the party and have become parasites, feeding off it, killing it. So, enjoy your Hannity solo act... He's a big reason conservatism is now considered a joke, and why the Republican party is in the sorry shape it's in, and why they're not attracting new followers and others are leaving in droves. What's good for Hannity, and Coulter, and Savage, and Limbaugh is bad for the Repblican party and bad for America.

While "The Normal Majority" is worried about their jobs, the economy, the credit freeze, and their futures and the future of the nation... Hannity was busy playing his ridiculous 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon - Obama edition, games. William Ayers? Ridiculous. Laughable. Idiotic. How'd that tactic work for him and McCain? Base loved it, but The Normal Majority laughed at it, and thought - boy, is this all they got? The RW has really lost its way, it's an embarrassment. Palin? Doesn't know what The Bush Doctrine is... Survey says? Eeeeeh. Hannity "to the rescue" (not) with an embarrassing puff ball interview in an attempt to rehabilitate that nobody took seriously for a second. So, while Obama - like it or not, stands on his head to fix things watch this petty self-styled "Great American" stand on his head and use his access to the media to sling mud at our president for no other reason than he's a Democrat. Some "great American"... Doesn't matter to Hannity - he's a multimillionaire and is insulated from what's got The Normal Majority worried. He'll continue to suck the blood out of the Republican party - and milk it for every cent along with his peers, at the expense of the party's crediblity.

I rarely watch Olberman - maybe 4 or 5 times in the last year. So much for your baseless assumptions. And "informed" about what? Hannity's idiotic Ayers association and attack strategy failed miserably because it was stupid in the extreme. Obama gets a letter to be on some charitable board started/funded by REPUBLICAN Annenberg - wha? Like a decade ago? He accepts. As does Ayers, who is now a Phd in education, decades removed from his WU activities. So, they both serve on this board for a while...

This becomes to clowns like Hannity and the rest of the loudmouth cretins on Fox "News" and conservative idiot AM hate-jock radio - and incredibly Palin, "palling around with domestic terrorists". Idiotic in the extreme and completely absurd. Their bobble head base salivates - literally bobbing their brainless bobble-heads to this intelligence insulting stupidity... The rest of us? The MAJORITY? Shake our heads and how pathetic the once great republican party has become. We vote X(democratic) to block the O(republican). Forever. See how that works? See how Hannity hurts the republican party - its credibility? As O'Reilly recently said in a rare moment of lucidity - walk away from the right wing liars.

I think the reason that Colmes didnt point out Hannity's extensive use of logical fallacies is because deep inside, Colmes knew that Hannity was right.
