I think Cooper is doing some fine journalism, but he does not have anything to show for it. I don't know if its the platform he is on(CNN), his delivery method, his production team or lack of personal connection to his audience. He seems to connect well to his news & interview subjects, but that is just not enough anymore. CNN has tried just about everything to get Cooper an audience, it's just not working. Looking at some of the recent cable news ratings, CNN has MUCH "bigger fish to fry"............I'm looking at you Campbell Brown.
Thoughts?

I like Anderson Cooper and wish he could garner more of an audience, as well.
I wish Cooper would write a book about his mother. She's lived quite a life, from being kidnapped as a baby, to paling around with the future Mrs. Charlie Chaplin and Mrs. Walter Mathau. To having dated Marlon Brando AND Sting.
She's written several books, but they read flat. I think he could do a better job of capturing the eras that she's lived through, her feisty business savvy, and her privileged background, better than she has managed to do.

Maybe people are just flat out tired of news at that point, plus the whole lineup at CNN is tanking. What I would try would be this, assuming I can't fire anybody. I would switch the lineup to this.
AC 360 7pm-9 pm
Larry King 9pm-10pm
Campbell Brown 10pm-11pm
And that new news show at 7, move it to 11pm
You are giving AC a better time slot with CNN's best lead in. (if you can call it that.) And you're putting something different up against O'Reilly & Olby
Larry? Until he retires nothing you can really do there.
Put Campbell against Greta.
Have the news on at 11. At least it's something traditional and at worst it's going up against is repeats. And maybe I would make it a CNN/CNN-I joint venture.
Maybe that will bring you a pulse in the ratings, which is what they need at this point.

Morning all.
Doocy: we had no electricity at home yesterday
Carlson: microwave dinners then?
That sums up F&F perfectly.
Jon Stewart was right about Carlson "dumbing herself down"

Kinda like Chris Matthews on Jeopardy?
Either way... that's pretty funny... unless of course you take life too seriously.

Maybe you should aim that question at Ashley....I'm worried he's under the weather...he hasn't pounced yet.

Everythings peachy with me Haggis except you. I'm tired of your deceptions and dishonesty, I'm tired of your smears. I'm tired of your demonstrated lacking in critical thinking skills as most recently demonstrated with your post about Neiwart (sp?) the other day. J$ clearly showed specific evidence how that guy was wrong, yet you still claim to believe him over J$ even after being shown proof that the guy was wrong. I also believe that you and Twinkletoes are one in the same. Based on your past history of lying about your identity, creating ficticious characters to support and agree with your Haggis character, there is little doubt TT was you. The other day, you deliberately lied in order to stir up the pot. It was over the long ago smear you made against BOR when you falsely accused him of calling President Obama a pinhead. He didn't do it, you knew it then, and the other day when I reminded you of it, you once again repeated the smear, knowing full well that was not true. In other words, you deliberately lied. You're in this for the aggravation factor and its just grown old. Perhaps one day you can become an honest participant in online discussion.

I was wondering what to highlight in Sunday's FHWiR, but today's my lucky day. A string of distortions and falsehoods so blatant that they qualify for the ultimate designation: lie of the week. As Montgomery Burns would say: "Excellent...excellent".

Their season is way too short.
As for the rest of your point as hot as Michael Weston is I still look forward to you more.

Let's be clear this is Michael Weston the charactor on the USA Network show "Burn Notice" and not the posting name once used by a certain childlike imbecile we all know.

Mediate needs to change their headline. It implies Shamu killed the trainer. Or maybe Mediate is now taking a word play out of the Haggis(?) european playbook. If it smells like Shamu, look's like Shamu then it must be a whale named Shamu.

Re: "Olby's comment: heartrending or creepy?" Creepy. I feel for his father, but he did not have to deliver a theatrical soliloquy and attackfest disguised as a "Comment." A real commentary doesn't end with what I assume (since I only read the transcript) was a soft-spoken quadruple utterance of "help."

Re: Olby's comment: heartrending or creepy
Creepy and shocking.
At some point in his life, Keith Olbermann decided that he is far and away smarter than EVERY EVERY EVERYbody else and that nothing should be considered other than his having his way.
There's nothing he won't say to accomplish that. There's nothing so sacred to him that it won't pay servitude to this compulsion.

I wonder how accurate this guy's info is?
It sounds like he thinks that MSNBC mgmt is finally figuring out what many of us have known for a long time.

Olby: Pimping out your dead/dying parents is as low as you can go. Speaking as someone who cared for their parents towards the end I can tell you that the last thing that I would even think of is parading them around for attention. Have you no shame??????

From the Countdown Transcipt:
"My father cannot speak for himself. He appointed me to do so for him.
I haven‘t the slightest doubt he wants me to say this tonight, right now.
He mouthed these words to me and I will now give them such voice as I have,
to you, going into that summit tomorrow: help, help, help, help.
Good night and good luck."
As someone who watched a close relative go through about the same deal as Olby's dad has, when the end came, I don't remember her mouthing political talking points for me to yell out in the local town square.

Hey Johnny, who is JedEckert? What are your thoughts on this analysis and his idea that "NBC Execs have begun to worry" about the OLBY SLUMP? It only stands to reason that the MSNBC/NBCU brass would be worried. I just wonder why it took them sooooo looooonngggg??!!

I don't know any more about him than what is there on his website. I have some concern about the thin sourcing of what he is claiming about MSNBC execs. I don't know his track record on this sort of thing so I'm cautious on that. I basically linked to him for his comments on the Comment as a counterpoint to Tommy Christopher's positive analysis.

Frankly, this just sounds like the same ole rumors we've heard about Olbermann's show since it's inception.
The last time there was a spate of such rumors running around, MSNBC made Keith their political coverage co-host.
I wouldn't take this talk very seriously.

He has about a year left on his contract. NBC is not going to do anything, they will leave it to Comcast when they take over. When Comcast finally does take over he might have just a few months to go. They will just let his contract run out.
After that, the only way we might see him on tv is after a HUGE paycut. He could go to work at SNY.
I do think he would be great at this.
In the NY area we use to have a show on WFAN66-AM hosted by Chris Russo & Mike Francesa called 'Mike & The Mad Dog'. Chris Russo left to do his own show and they haven't really been able to find a replacement yet, so I would like to like to say that we push for Olby to take over Russo's old spot.
Don't really have to change the name much, they can just call it....
'Mike & The Moron.'

Though unsubstantiated, I have it from a personal and peccable source inside the NBC Sports production team that attempts to reel Olbermann in on "Football Night in America" fell on deaf ears, causing friction between some of the other talent, production and tech crews and the brass at 30 Rock during the latter half of the season.
