At least Chrissy admits that the MSNBC debate has been "left vs. center left"--that's about right.

I think it's more misinformed than an intentional misrepresentation. I'm pretty sure Matthews believes what he says about Fox News.
My question is, why would he insert that accusation at this time? I recall Matthews telling Scarborough it was now his job to help the President succeed. I believe he needs someone to blame for the poor showing Obamacare has in the polls and for the possibility it will fail in Congress.
FNC....."absolutely no debate"....."It's (Obamacare) trashed every day"....."an entire network on television has blasted it every day for more than a year"....."negative, negative".....
In Chris's World, Fox News alternates between impotent and omnipotent.

I just read the Colby Hall's blurb on Mediaite headlined "Chris Matthews: Unlike MSNBC and CNN ‘There’s Absolutely No Debate’ on Fox News."
Everything was going along fine untill I read the closing sentence=---
"However, there are very few viewers that consume opinion media on both networks — and judging purely by ratings points and total viewers, Fox News has clearly won this debate, and perhaps successfully killed this administration’s efforts to reform health care."
Not only does Hall fail to debunk, or even challenge Matthews's blatantly bogus claim, he appears to actually endorse it AND promote the absurd contention that if Obamacare fails to pass, Fox News would be responsible for killing the Obama "administration’s efforts to reform health care," as if that is their goal.

Brett Baier just explained that his upcoming interview with President Obama is going to be a little more confrontational that he is used to. I am very anxious to watch how Brett handled this interview and how Obama handled a hard interview.

Should be interesting, but I don't have my hopes up. I just saw a clip on Cavuto; Baier let Obama take over the interview.

Looks like Ailes took Kurtz piece seriously, anonymous sources and all. That there are employees who are bothered with Beck. At least Ailes didnt just ignore the problem.

The "diversity" link has to be one of the most pointedly funny one-sided chronology of tweets, that I've seen.
I kept having to scroll up for a glance at the site header in order to assure myself that I wasn't reading some sort of parody!

From the lovely Ellen at News Hounds.
Beck Smears 11Year Old For Speaking Out For Health Care Reform.
That is a lie. Beck was merely pointing out the absurdity of the democrats using children to promote their health care plan. Julie, what say you?

Blackflon: I just read the post myself a few minutes ago, once through. I personally think that Beck is right that children should not be exploited for politics; but what's notable is he had no such qualms about the tea party movement sticking signs in the hands of very small children at the tea party events. I have pictures of that very thing that I took myself in a Chicago-based event. I also think Beck is long on histrionics, short on journalism skill, and in my opinion this segment proves that out.

Those points are all fair points, but how and where exactly did Beck 'smear' the 11-yr old?

I might not have used the word "smear," but according to the quoted segments in the post (I didn't watch the clip), he appeared to denigrate both the fact that the child was used to promote a political cause and the actual facts surrounding the mother's health issues. By the way, didn't Fox give a fairly extensive platform to that obnoxious mini-Republican, Jonathan Krohn, the kid who parroted right-wing talking points?

Is that your way of saying no, Glenn Beck really didn't smear an 11-yr-old?

That's my way of saying Beck didn't directly smear the kid, right, but certainly wasn't "fair and balanced" on his denigration of the use of children to promote political causes, which the tea party movement and Republicans appear (as my previous comments noted) not to have a problem with, in general. He also cast doubt on the veracity of the mother's health issues, which I don't believe he had enough information to do.

Well I said you made some fair points, but I think the whole thrust of the original comment here was a headline from Ellen that was incendiary and misleading.

And I responded that I wouldn't say Beck directly smeared the kid, but treaded way too close to the line on the family.

Julie, I personally don't equate signs in the hands of children as "using"
them. Most of them were probably there with their parents so they wouldn't have to stay home alone.
As far as Republicans using children, I believe that is wrong as well and but when someone points out that "Republicans do the same thing", I believe it is just a silly arguement.

It's the the ole tu quoque logical fallacy, and as regards whether Glenn Beck smeared a kid, it's a strawman.

Blackflon, I didn't intend that to be a "two wrongs make a right" argument -- it's not. Both sides should keep the kids out of the debate.

Our pal AAP (aka Patsy) is still obsessed with this site. He's cutting and pasting comments here into the NH off-topic forum. He took a lengthy comment from yesterday by Ramjet and reposted it there. Only he did a strange thing. Ramjet's comment was a reply to Julie, but Patsy changed that to make it look like it was a reply to me! I mean, the comments are threaded so it's easy to see that it was a reply to Julie. Ten seconds of reading would make that obvious as well. So it appears that AAP just changed it to be dishonest. Yeah, well that was always the most likely explanation.

Yes, Average American Patriot (nicknamed Patsy at Olbermann Watch) is a News Hound regular and man of a thousand aliases.
He's one of only two people who are completely banned here and has been banned twice now at Mediaite. He's found of names with "Bovine" in them ala MarkBovineKoldys and such.
News Hounds seems to be his home. There he insults more intelligent posters such as Aunty Em, and obsessively starts threads and posts about Johnny Dollar's Place.

I'm still blocked on the NH O/T Forum so I'll try to help AAP out about my shorthand via this thread, since it's obvious she monitors J$P.

J$= Johnny Dollar
AAP,
I was responding to Julie (JD), not Johnny (J$).
Bonus NH Aid:
"How does a 'commentator' get to be the king of a news channel?"-mj
Ratings, ratings, ratings.
That was "King of cable news," a category of cable news networks, primarily CNN, HLN, FNC, MSNBC, and any other 24/7 news channel, all of which employ "commentators."
Hope this was helpful.
