Gosh, do we even need a dedicated weather channel? I'd sooner have yet another shopping channel. Certainly, I watch shopping channels as often as weather channels. In other words, never.

I suspect people who need solid, reliable weather information get it from more solid, reliable, local sources. I suspect people who eat, drink and breathe weather go into their little dark rooms and switch on their computers.

As for me: December-February, cool; March-April, warm; May to September, hot; October-November, warm; cloudy, drizzle fog, rain, snow or sleet. Oh, and if the leaves are blowing, it's windy. Not exactly science.

Was curious how Fox would handle two major stories from yesterday, the firing by Robert gates of the AF Secretary and Chief of Staff because of the lose nukes fiasco, and the release of the Senate Intelligence Committee report on pre-war intelligence, which concluded that before the war the Administration had misused intelligence.

So I saw the headlines from the 7 and 8 o'clock hours, and much of the 7 o'clock hour.I learned that Pres Bush will be making a tour of Europe one last time, perhaps in search of a friendly crowd. And something happened at a basketball game. But not a word on these two important stories.Well, I guess that's one way to handle it.

But during the 7 o'clock hour, they had a segment with Laura Ingraham.towards the end of the segment, they asked Laura to comment on a suggestion from Angelina Jolie that Disney should have more people of color as heroes in their movies.

Now during this discussion, they had a chyron up which read "Disney Racist?"

Did somebody say that?Did somebody imply that? Or was this just a strawman they erected to cast the issue at it's most extreme, and make it easier to debunk?

But the Fox and Friends then displayed their insensitivity to racial issues. Counterpoints that were heard to Ms Jolie's gentle suggestion were,I paraphrase,'How about Moulon? Pocahontas?how about Shrek? He was green.

And I was going to invite Doocy to our Kwanza celebration.

In regards to Andrea Mitchell, no apology is needed. She is who she is, a Georgetown leftist snob who is incapable of understanding people outside her cocktail party circle.

Her comments mirror SNOBamessiah's evaluation of rural Pennsylvania voters. As he educated his San Francisco friends a couple of months ago, the Illinois Senator came upon the same simplistic conclusions that is so common to the professorial elitist liberal.

Oh well, like Olbermann in his Trump Palace aprtment, Mitchell is only doing her best in trying to think "outside the box" (to use another simplistic and over used cliche).....But that is all NBC NEWS has been cpable of doing lately...regurgitate the old and unproductive liberal elite cliches os years gone by....what a bright new century!

Oh, goodness! What a skunk you are, you faker!

There are red flags in troubled children that are extremely good predictors of a future of jail time-- fire setting, cruelty to animals, predatory sexual behavior, etc.

Putting pejorative words into other people's mouths by pretending to be them or to be someone who is like them is a red flag too, I think. It may not trend towards jail, but something is deadly spoilt and curdled with you when you do this

Why would anyone WANT someone to be bad in a way they have not ever shown themselves to be? You want MORE badness in the world so much that you make it up? What would have made your soul go to soured milk that you'd get glee ifrom that?

I'd hope that Time Warner doesn't buy The Weather Channel, but I didn't want Cablevision to buy "Newsday" and look what happened there. Whenever I don't want something to happen, it happens. I just hope my beloved Weather Channel, who first got me into weather (and contemporary jazz, new age, and voiceovers during the Local Forecasts) 20 years ago, will not have CNN's ideology bleed into their programming. I've been willing to look beyond "Forecast Earth" and "The Climate Code" (if that's still on), but if TWC starts bashing FNC and such, it'll be heartbreaking.
I didn't take "Today's deep thought" too seriously. The guy didn't even get his facts straight. The Bernie and Jane segment was Thursday (last) night, not Wednesday. Speaking of that segment, with all due respect to Bernie, Jane, and BOR, they sounded like grumpy old journalists (my nickname in jest for the segment, in the spirit of the "Grumpy Old Coaches" segment in the Fox NFL Sunday pre-game show) when talking about the UFC specials on CBS. I agree with them somewhat, that it shouldn't be on network TV, but I'm concerned about how the three of them will be perceived, especially by UFC fans.
It's 11:23, and at this point, I'm lucky more trolls haven't shown up. But they will. They always do. I'll be some showed up in the 10 minutes I've spent writing this comment.

Fools rush in is the perfect description!

The breathless coverage of the secret meeting was all an emotional reaction because the dunces were on SNOBamessiah's campaign plane when they realized he was not coming and they found out he was meeting with Hillary.

I listened to Bob Schaeffer on the radio this AM and he basically said that when a reporter is covering a candidate and they suddenly do not know where they are, it immedietely means something "big" is going on. Please. Take a Ritalin Bobby.

This is so often about process and not substance that it makes me want to puke.

Even Andrea Mitchell was giddy with the ploy...She gave NO new information and only speculated about what the two talked about....Again she was reporting from Hill's DC place (nice house!). These reporters seem to be concentrating on how the candidate affects them and the process then on the actual facts (which they have no handle on).

The SNOBamessiah campaign really has the skill in manipulating the press as well as their lemmings.

Why would the students of Hunter College complain about Matthews replacing Olbermann as the commencement speaker? Everything they say about Matthews (that he's a mysoginist (sp?)), etc., applies to Keith as well.

If I had a kid graduating from that school, I'd be furious that either one was selected as speaker. And what was Keith's big excuse that he had to back out of a commencement adress? Sounds like WPITW, BIG TIME!

Newsbusters "spin" Rachel Maddow's comments, supports KDVR's (that J$ deleted, because it was "off-topic") comments that: "Obama might well qualify, given his most-liberal-voting-record in the Senate," which is A LIE ( http://colorado.mediamatters.org/items/200806050001 ) Michael SMEAR-CON-ish supports the probable soon to be Nova M Talker.

It IS funny that Obama is NOT a true liberal (Refer to Mike Malloy shows, but you must pay for the archives) because Obama is backed by Corporists, according to The Great One. Mike Malloy even said: "I will not be a Democrat, and in fact, I will switch my party, to a third-party, IF Obama decides to be Bill Clinton. I will give up the Democratic Party, and will not longer support the Democratic Party." As you can see, this article, on NB, is nothing, based on another liberal talk show host.

I support Obama, because I MUST follow what Mike Malloy says: "You MUST give Obama a chance."

What do you think?<
I was never into Erykah Badu. I do have an album Diane Schuur appeared on, though. She was on "GRP Super Live In Concert" Disc 1, which I liked more for the Dave Grusin, Lee Ritenour, and Tom Scott tracks. The second disc was all Chick Corea Elektric (Chick's spelling, not a typo) Band. You'll get a sense of the artists I'm into by looking at the Jazz Links on my blog or in my MySpace or Facebook profiles.
Now, I'm going off topic. Sorry. At least I'm not spouting far-left propaganda.

Why do you bring up a newsbusters article only to claim it is faulty? That's a rather tenuous connection with cable news. Your nonsensical statement ("that's a lie") when the National Journal backs up what was said only adds to the sense that your purpose in posting was not to discuss cable news but to make political points. THat's not the purpose of this site and you will not make it such.

"'I thought it would be Hillary and Monica that would get me in trouble,' sighs Moos. 'I was going for nemeses - Hillary and Monica, McCain and Coulter, Obama and you-know-who. I thought it was funny, but everybody now is touchy, touchy."'

Moos is hilarious.

As a contrast, most leftist ideologues have no sense of humor or perspective.....as below....

"At Media Matters, though, nobody is laughing. 'What is being brought to the table here?' says Karl Frisch, the organization’s communications director. 'Conversations about candidates' names and cleavage? Or things that people actually care about, like health care and the war in Iraq? Funny or not, when Jeanne Moos does these types of fluff pieces, she is advancing these attacks, doing real damage. This is CNN, not Comedy Central.'"

Oh my....this lib from MEDIA MATTERS needs to calm down, have a glass of Merlot (and an Arugula, goat cheese, and raspberry vinegarette salad?), and not worry so much that evey conversation needs to be about "what people care about."

Just another thing - speaking of stuff that isn't really "hard news", I really like the segment Chris Wallace does at the end of Fox News Sunday each week. It's called "Power Player of the Week", and usually highlights someone working in D.C., in a kind of "behind the scenes" profession (White House chef, band director, employees at the Smithsonian, etc.).

Maybe it's just Wallace's presentation or something, or maybe the topic, but this is something I look forward to seeing.

Mike:

I can only offer two (2) points:

#1 Eschew the type of moral and ethical relativism some advocate.

#2 Never fear empathy.

So, I wouldn't say feel sorry. Instead, identify with the person and the shortcoming and forgive that person.

As for working at Newscorp, it has a reputation for being cuthroat. But, so do most media outlets.

So, have a nice adult or soft beverage of your choice, watch a stupid movie or listen to some schmaltzy music and mellow out. What always works for me in the summer is a nice, chilled French rose and a little Drei Pfennig Oper. But, peppermint tea and Mac the Knife can be nice to. Think a few kind thoughts about the intern, and the world will be spinning just about right.

My latest Facebook status updates have been depressing.
And I don't know how to take "have a nice adult or soft beverage of your choice, watch a stupid movie or listen to some schmaltzy music and mellow out." I'd rather listen to instrumental ballads or new age right now. I'm depressed that there wasn't a meet-and-greet for the show I went to, but there will be for the show that is probably getting underway as I write.
To get back on topic, thank you, Johnny, for not linking TVNewser for ratings anymore. They're pro-NBC and pro-Keith. And I'm pretty sure they hate Fox.

The point was, do something that pleases you, and only you. Ballads or new age are great if that speaks to you at this time. My schmaltz suggestion was the result of being on a very delayed flight and long flight mid-May. By the time I left Frankfurt, I knew I had already missed my JFK connection. That meant I was going to miss an event that was important to me and that I very much enjoy. I got a Jameson's & Ginger, put on the Bose's and listened to some loop called "Classical Pop Jazz," not a genre I have ever heard of. Sinatra, Darin, Torme, etc. Not music I generally like all that well. Actually, I do like Darin. It was like comfort food. One of the best flights I've ever had. The flight back over this weekend, I probably won't listen to this type of music at all. Italian opera, maybe. A nice cabernet and one of those salads with mixed greens and balsamic, some pretzel bread. Changes with the time.

I hope you enjoy the instrumental ballads and the new age. It's all good.

Sorrow for the detour, Johnny.
