Highlight of the NYT-The TV Watch-Alessandra Stanley review of the Rachel Maddow Show for those pressed for time:
"Her program adds a good-humored female face to a cable news channel whose prime time is dominated by unruly, often squabbling schoolboys; Ms. Maddows deep, modulated voice is reassuringly calm after so much shrill emotionalism and catfights among the channels aging, white male divas."
Reaction around 30 Rock could get interesting.

Johnny, I just saw a very good report on F&F by Jim Engle (?) about the warnings and opportunities missed that might have averted the current financial crisis or at worse ameliorated it a great deal.

BOR just said the dreaded two words, "shut up," on "The Radio Factor." It was during a fierce opening segment of Hour 1. He attacked both political parties (including President Bush on the right and Barney Frank and Chris Dodd on the left) and conservative talk radio. He only said the words once, but because he got so worked up, especially over Frank and Dodd, expect this to be WPitW material for tonight or tomorrow. Of course, it all depends on which blue blog master "reports" on this.

I thought the NYT review of Maddow's show was pretty much dead-on, but I found this line of comparison laughable:
"Like Mr. OReilly and Mr. Olbermann, Ms. Maddow prefers to confront guests she already agrees with."
Are they serious? The reason, I believe, that O'Reilly's show does so well is the fact that he has people on whom he disagrees with.

Personally, I find it amusing that if CNN gave Bill Richardson or any ex-Dem nominee their own weekend show the bottomfeeders in the right-wing blogosophere would be screeching bias.
Fox hiring Huckabee? Oh, TOTALLY non-partisan.

This strikes me as a one-off, just like "Showdown with Larry Elder" back in July.

In the Culture Warriors segment, Margaret Hoover said another suggestive word, but not always a bleepable word: ass.

a. Bill Richardson is not an "ex-Dem nominee."
b. Richardson is an ex-Gov and former Democratic candidate for President.
c. Huckabee is a Rep version of the above.
d. Huckabee is funny, charming, self-efacing and well spoken.
e. Huckabee has a funny name.
f. Richardson doesn't fit the bill of c & d.

I haven't seen anyone, except you, commenting particularly either way about Huckabee hosting a show on FNC.
Have they given him a "news" show and are promoting him as a "journalist"? If that is the case you would have a legitimate complaint. But that is not the case as I understand it so why don't you wait to criticize it after seeing what it is and how he handles it.
There are many so called journalists who either held office themselves or have worked for politicians on oth side of the aisle. So suddenly you're bent out of shape b/c there will be one more at FNC.
