I enjoy Mika on Morning Joe very much, but she's wrong here.
No matter what sort of semantical game she wants to play about the difference between the terms 'biased' and 'nonobjective', I'm not sure I can agree that within the formal scene of a news room, staffers should not bother continuing with the professional fiction of appearing nonaligned.
I really do believe that the most important aspect of any news show, is not the complete objectivity of the host, but rather their willingness to air both sides of an issue. (AND hosts/anchors should be knowledgeable enough of both side's arguments, that they can challenge guests from either point of view.)
However, unlike what seems to be Mika's opinion, I'm not willing to COMPLETELY abandon the notion of the professional atmosphere of an unbiased...objective... nonaligned news room.
THAT is troubling.

My take on the news anchors on cable and network.
Charles Gibson should have gotten the job when Jennings died. He's good but his bias leaks out once in awhile. He paid his dues.
Brian Williams also paid his dues and does a good job for a sorry ass network.
Katie Couric got her job because of political correctness and popularity. Barbara Walters actually did some grunt work before she got an anchor position. Couric is terrible.
Wolf Blitzer hides any bias he has pretty well but he is a drama queen on some stories.
Brit Hume was also very good at what he did. We know he leaned right but it never came through on his newscast.
Brett Bair is new and needs time to develop.
I can't comment on MSNBC because I don't get the channel. That may be a good thing.

"There's no crying in unions!"
You've never worked with the UAW, have you? Biggest bunch of emotional pseudo-downtrodden babies I've ever seen in my life.
No joke, a contractor dropped a wrench from the mezzanine (overhead walkway) and it fell a few feet from a UAW worker when I was working in Norfolk's F-150 plant. The entire plant walked out in protest and the contractor was fired.

Of course this is great news, but those on the left will be spinning it as "but XXXX gets MORE Web traffic.
Funny, it wasn't that long ago when the left was touting the growing ratings of Olby, Matthews, etc. Now, that their ratings have fallen flat, the left no longer seems to even care about ratings.
But the cable news outfits and their advertisors still do.

I think Fox's ratings have somewhat to do with presentation. MSNBC has some very vicious people in Olbermann and Maddow. They have this "looking down their noses" view.
Red Eye has some viciousness but no one watches them.
CNN is trying the straight path but most people today seem to be more interested in sound bites and texting. There is no conversation taking place anymore. Check out how many of our children spend their time with gadgets.

and we all know that those ratings didnt last- i had a feeling they wouldnt no more bush to bash
since obama has taken office-i will assume foxnews ratings have gone higher? people want the truth-not all this pro obama all the time crap
and the truth is this:
obama/dems is spending alot of money (i guess the left doesnt care-or only when its republicans-both have spent alot)
obama has made mistakes (no president is perfect-and nobody should nit-pick his mistakes)
jobs are being lost, forclosures
the crisis we're in is more complex than one party/person-it takes two
hearing one side of a topic-doesnt help anyone/ viewers/voters-no matter the channel

There some sort of glitch going on with Firefox users. They are unable to access the site because FF wants to download it as a file instead of displaying it! This only happens on the front page for some reason. So if you want to keep up with the links and FIrefox is giving you trouble, go to this link instead of johnnydollar.us:

What the left fails to mention whenever family guy comes up, is that Fox did absolutely nothing to stop a Fox Television show mock Fox News. Then, you have Fox doing nothing to stop a host from Fox News from voicing his extremely negative opinion against another Fox show.
Kudos to Fox for being so independent and fair minded.
So Haggis, would you have preferred BOR to remain silent and for no host to even comment on family guy?
or
Do you prefer Bill doing what he's doing.

Only 9 minutes from "to add some reality..." to "everyone here must be in a state of depression today..."
Lead story on Kkkkkountddddddown.
CABLE NEWS covered The Specter Defector Story as a purely partisan political piece, when the real story is the Status of Specter's Sputtering, Craterous Credibility Cavity, not unlike the hallucinatory Haggis.

The "cable news lament" story, "Hunter: Monsters of imagination are the worst kind," is indeed, a study in the Monster genre.
The "Hunter" in question is David Hunter, the author of the column, a freelance writer and former Knox County sheriff's deputy. In his role as columnist, Mr. Hunter takes on the personifications of Larry Talbot as The Wolf Man and Jack Griffin as The Invisible Man (Lon Chaney, Jr. and Claude Raines, respectively) for his role as The Invisible Wolf Man. He gets really hairy, then vanishes.
He uses the opening four paragraphs to lay the premise for his plot; i.e., "Mark Twain is often credited with having said, 'The worst things that ever happened to me never happened'," and "I can tell you up front that the worst things that ever happened to me also never happened. Another way of putting it is to say that the monsters created by a vivid imagination are almost always worse than reality."
Then Mr. Hunter proceeds to create his Monster out of silly putty. His lament is the 3 cable news networks report "what would happen if" instead of the way of the old pros, Walter, Howard K, Chet and David, by "telling us what was happening, not what could happen."

("cable news lament" cont)
And how does he prove his point? He takes WereWolf Blitzer to task for "sounding like a man on the edge of panic" reporting on the Taliban closing in on Islamabad and " what would happen if the Taliban seized control of that government and its nuclear weapons." Hunter writes, "He must have used the word 'nuclear' 20 times."
Come on! Really! What'd you expect? Like his name isn't a tip off?
MSNBC is almost an afterthought as Hunter details their report on "the plight of General Motors, I think," with stock quotes.
Brilliant! Uh huh.
But the piece de resistance, the evidentiary creme de la creme of his case is, yep, you guessed it FOX News. Behold: "Fox News was focused on the possibility of officials of former President Bush being prosecuted for authorizing torture."
Sure they were. Well, not so much. Actually, not at all.
FNC was not "focused on the possibility of officials of former President Bush being prosecuted for authorizing torture." They actually reported on an interesting story, the D.C. Horror Film Cluster Fest. The Zombies From the Left Meet the Mummies From the Right on the Hill as the Vampire in Chief Watches From the House on 15th & E St. While the Former Bush Ghouls Yell From the Rooftops, "Oh yea!"
Now, that's showbiz!
As he wraps up his chilling tale, Mr. Hunter somehow, in his mad-scientist's mind, makes a connection to his lament with the following:
"The cases of Richard Jewell, who was lynched by the national news media for the Atlanta Olympic bombing of which he was innocent, and members of the Duke University lacrosse team convicted by media-inspired public opinion of being rapists and racists, come to mind."
The Atlanta Summer Olympics were held in 1996, strangely enough in the Summer, from July 19th to August 4th. The Centennial Olympic Park bombing occurred July 27th, 1996.
The FOX News Channel began operations on October 7th, 1996. The national news media organazations that "lynched" Richard Jewell, were sued by Richard Jewell, and settled out of court are NBC News, CNN, the NY Times and the NY Post.
And the "Duke University lacrosse team convicted by media-inspired public opinion of being rapists and racists" example is even more enlightening regarding FNC. FOX News did not participate in the media feeding the Duke players to the sharks frenzy. In fact, as they refused to convict anyone of anything in the press, FOX News came under vicious attacks from the blue-blog and MSNBC Fox Haters.
A search of the Newshounds site for "duke rape" brings up:
Results 1 - 10 of about 162 from newshounds.us for duke rape.
Thank goodness Hunter didn't produce a double-feature.

Poor Haggis. Reality deficient...again.
Bait taken.
NBC NEWS' best ratings guy, Keith Olbermann, can never muster even the smallest criticism of his corporate daddy when the blue blogs, who he claims to serve (in truth, justice and the American way!), are so apoplectic that the hate just seethes through the screen.
Remember Jim Cramer?....Oh boy, and how about Don Imus? Oh boy....Keith was "johnny come lately" (sorry J$) on those liberal hate crusades. There are many others documented over at OW....come by and discuss them, I am sure Robert Cox would be happy to have your perspective demolished.
And then we have the "journalist" Olbermann hypocritically covering politics....Comapre and contrast the coverage, based on (R) or (D) by the name, of those he himself says are the "people in power," and how he promised equal and uncompromising analysis of the works....Obama? Bush? Iraq policy? Wire tapping? Pelosi? Congressional Democrats?Allowing "torture?" Political corruption? Torture prosecutions? And the latest....The EASY example of federal government incompetance, arrogance and stupidity (the AFO Manhattan flyover)?...
Olbermann has no ability, unlike O'Reilly, to garner the confidence and integrity to be independent and intellectually honest. Your worry about O'Reilly is simply mistaken.
Finally Haggis, as a conservative, I am not depressed. History shows us these types of politicians change parties for their own personal power during these extreme periods in government...1980, 1992 for the democrats are just recent examples. Olbermann (and the majority of the MSM) has no sense of history or objectivity, so you would not be informed of such simple history. Spector voted as a democrat when it most counted recently anyway, so in reality and policy there will be no change. Will there be HONEST analysis from liberals like Olbermann if the left puts up a leftist against Spector in the primary?....I highly doubt it. Purity on ideology from the left seems not to be a concern for "journalists" like Olbermann where with the right?...Well we get more hypocrisy.
I hope Johnny allows this post because it was easy to defeat the simplistic and highly unoriginal conclusion by our fav, Haggis. I'm done.
