"White House colludes with pundits dailyW
----------
Now, that headline is spinning so fast I I had to catch it to read it! Howzabout "Four old friends continue 17-year conversation"? And I find it rich given the umbilical cord that connected the White House with Fox "News" for the past 8 years. No wonder the Fox pundits are so cranky these days! They've been pulled off the teat! LOL

I believe the whole "Fox News (#1) gets daily talking points" was debunked. This administration is admitting to it!

First Rush, now FNC?.....

"[Obama] also acknowledged that there will be plenty of time for them to beat him up politically, according to the notes of one participant in the meeting. 'I understand that,' Obama said, then joked, 'and I will watch you on Fox News and feel bad about myself.'"

###
Wow. Our chief executive admitting that coverage of him FNC hurts his paw widdle self-esteem? Or worse, FNC provides the arguments against his policies and that's not good? Oh my! The One is showing his true character!

The Republicans can only expect one small cable news outlet out of 3, along with biased coverage of the networks and the newspapers, to cover their point of view along with the others.

What a statement about the health of our democracy! Positive coverage of a politician is expected from all newsies and when one is fair and balanced....look out!...chuckle, chuckle.

I feel a cold draught on the back of my neck.

VERO POSSUMUS!

How about: Four old Democrat operatives continue their 17 year old strategy/talking points bull sessions?

Johnny, it's interesting that all these men, including Al Hunt, have worked as news analysts for cable and network television or even had their own news shows.

Al Hunt was one of the liberal voices on CNN's Capitol Gang and of course Stephanopoulos does ABC's Sunday news show, The Week with George Stephanopoulos.

Of course when FNC has on staff this sort of partisan source its evidence of THEIR bias.

Imagine if Fox News Sunday's Mike Wallace reportedly had a 17 year old daily chat with a former Reaganite cum Bush WH Chief of Staff, analogous to Rahm Emanuel?...

If you had a report about four 'old Republican/conservative friends/politicoes conversing like this everyday, it would carry a tinge of being unsavory. ESPECIALLY if it had the same dynamics as Rahm's re-emergence into the White House

This sort of confab would be evidence of continued underground rightwing conspiratorial machinations suddenly made direly significant by the portentous re-ascension of one these suspects into the halls of baleful Republican power.

When it's a bunch of liberal Dem players there is no taint, there's only ipso facto sweetness and light...

For Foxgrudgers THAT headline should merely read "Four friends continue 17 year old conversation"....and for Politico it's merely: Four seasoned wonks carry on their love of public policy...

And so it goes...

I did not bash anyone for "making fun" of Fox or "criticizing" Fox. I bashed Steve and his puppet Ellen for LYING about what O'Reilly said. Do you understand the difference?!?

also-i put this comment under the daily links-NOT the post about steve and ellen-and another point i should have made and didnt-is in GENERAL when fox is attacked/joked about-they get bashed themselves-its as though-fox is above that-that it can do no wrong

Quite correct. I see all the comments chronologically and don't always catch which post they are connected to.

I quite understood that Obama was joking and I never said otherwise. Of course jokes can have deeper meanings too, but I'm not all up in arms about his little jibe, unless it becomes a habit.

Frankly,

Based upon Obama's history of not calling FNC reporters, I don't think his comment was a "joke".

Forget about all the MSNBC hot air about how they were going to move ahead after the election cycle and contend for top cable news ratings in 09. With Obama in office and the one/two Olbermann/Maddow punch, they would knock out O'Reilly & Hannity. Nothing could be further from the truth as their Jan #'s suck. FoxNews dominates in every prime time category, no suprise here, let the hounds bay all they want, nobody listens to them either.

Nope. Have you posted at 'o'reilly sucks' or told your cohort aka steve the same thing, "nice name, no hate there, huh?" Liberal hypocrisy, front and center! Thanks, chris!

As a member of a party who's base demanded a boycott of FNC, Obama knows his "joke" has a certain effect. Just like his "advice" to Republicans about listening to Limbaugh serves some purpose.

These type of tactics are the currency of "celebrity" and PR.

Change has come. And so it goes.

Chris,

Obama could have said it with the tones of a child's bell-like laughter ringing in his voice... but that doesn't negate the obvious.

Based upon Obama's history of saying he's been unfairly treated by FNC, his retaliation of not calling on FNC reporters in press conferences, and his explicit statement that he would watch Republican pols bashing him on FNC and "feel bad about myself", it was an obvious snipe.

Chris, the quote you keep posting was written by someone who interjected the "then joked" part of Obama's quotation. Whether or not Obama was joking was subjective to the writer.

I do agree with your assertion above that FNC being #1 invites attacks from non-#1s. Such is life!

If the word "joke" means that Obama doesn't believe he's not giving a fair shake by FNC then Obama was NOT joking.

If the word joke means poking fun about something you think is essentially true-- the way Jon Stewart pokes fun at certain pols and news personalites that he believes are stupid or corrupt-- THEN Obama was most certainly "joking".
