Re: "propaganda": I guess David Zurawik won't be coming back on "The O'Reilly Factor," or FNC, anytime soon. I might as well retract my "Thank you very much" in the thread for Johnny's video of Z's "Factor" appearance.

Zurawik's a strange guy. Sometimes he's on the money (he isn't strictly partisan and I believe he's been critical of Countdown) but why does he go into high dudgeon over Palin? O'Reilly continues to have Marc Lamont Hill on his show despite Hill being dropped as an FNC contributor and a continuing effort to have Hill banned from FNC. O'Reilly's mix of guests is 1000% more diversified than what you see on Countdown or Maddow. Why does Palin get this reaction from Z, but not Karl Rove? It's strange.

I love Palin as a citizen, politician, and public personality but agree with Z that she was horrid on BOR last night. I think the best role for her would be to replace Ron Schmeits as president of the NRA.

You know what Pat? I don't believe you. Why should I believe you even saw this interview? The last time you made a similar statement it was about Glenn Beck being interviewed by Katie Couric. Another lengthy critique from you using even some strikingly similar language. And yet the curious thing was that your detailed reaction was published some 15 hours before the Glenn/Couric interview was published. When I asked how that was possible you vanished.
Now I'm asking again. If you want to keep posting "reviews" or anything else here, I want to know that they are not fabricated. So answer my question that you've been avoiding for months: how were you able to see the Beck/Couric interview 15 hours before anyone else, 15 hours before it was posted? Because if you lied about that, then you could be lying about this, and in either case we have no use for liars in our comments. If again you refuse to answer that will be taken as an admission.
UPDATE: Somehow Echo swallowed up Pat Pomeroy's comment that I was replying to. I've been in contact with them to try to get it reinstated (it was probably something dumb I did but I'm supposed to be able to manage this stuff and the manager isn't working for me). Until it gets reinstated, I'll just clarify that PP's point was that the Palin/O'Reilly appearance was chaotic, scattershot, and a few other things like that. With any luck I'll be able to resurrect the actual message back in its proper place when/if Echo gets back to me on this.

I'm not going to do that at this point, because I owe him the opportunity to explain himself. Besides, who would want to miss reading that explanation: it should be a pip! But if he doesn't respond and explain his apparent lying, then we will have to make him a moderated commenter, wherein his messages will have to be approved before they appear. And approval will be contingent on his explaining himself.

I'm inclined to agree with Verne Gay's C+, but I have a slightly improved grade for the Governor: a B. She sounded more like she was campaigning than analyzing. That said, it was her first time. Hopefully, she'll improve with each appearance on FNC.

I think there is some reasonable hope for that. FOX did seem to rush her a bit, and her abyssmal performance, I tend to think a "D" may improve. My one concern is her apparent inability to take any criticism as constructive. That may mean no change over time. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

Patrick cannot ever win in the realm of legitmate debate so he resorts to the gay slurs and potty talk. Since he has proven himself to be a coward and a liar (lying to the NH poster when he claimed that he moved), and that there is no way he could use assault tactics learned in the armed services when we know he couldn't have served in the armed services, I don't lose a moment of sleep.

The left is flying into a rage over Palin being hired as Fox News Commentator. Paggis Haggeroy above says it shows FNC is right wing because they hired a former GOP contender for VP.
What about when any of the nets hired Wesley Clark, wasn't he a Dem presidential contender? Even Fox hired him for a short time. I don't recall the left criticiziing anyone for hiring that guy.

I resent being called a liar, particularly by the likes of some of the posters here. The fact is, I had a full, first hand review of the Couric interview of Beck the morning it aired, and I watched some of the clips, very limited, released as promos. Simply because one doesn't run a fan website doesn't mean that one doesn't have friends and familiy members who work in the media. I can tell you that several of the British newsrooms were in high humor over the Beck interview long before it was aired in the US. I don't understand the prickliness, here. I specifically commended O'Reilly, and I noted that I find it not in the least objectionable that FOX is a rightist news outlet. In fact, I think it perfectly proper. The prickliness and the protestations and the amusing insistence that FOX presents balanced coverage suggests some sort of inferiority conmplex from and about the network. There need be none. In the US, MSNBC has a pronounced bias. In Europe, Figaro has one. Just examples, but nothing wrong there. Media outlets are not required to be objective. As for dealing with the substance of the Palin performance, how can I? There was none. That is my point. She is a woman without substance, without belief except in herself, and that is the only substantive matter she ever addresses., as she did last night. There is nothing wrong in someone liking and admiring her. I don't. As an American who has not be resident in a couple score of years and likely will never be, I find her a profound embarassment. I ought not been attacked for that belief. I fail to understand why you are so threatened by that.

"I had a full, first hand review of the Couric interview of Beck the morning it aired"
It didn't air in the morning. It aired in the evening. You posted your 'review' in the morning, 15 hours before the interview ever appeared.
"I watched some of the clips, very limited, released as promos"
So did the rest of the world. So are you saying that you based your 'review' of a 45-minute interview on a two-minute snippet? That seems odd given how you described Beck being all over the place in an interview--something you couldn't possibly know from a promo snippet that represented approximately 2% of the interview.
"doesn't mean that one doesn't have friends and familiy members who work in the media"
HOw is this relevant? Are you saying someone you know at CBS got this highly embargoed interview to you 15 hours before the rest of the world? I know people who work at CBS and I couldn't get it ahead of time. But wait, you're not actually saying that are you? You're just mentioning people who 'work in the media' without actually stating that you got the interview 15 hours early from them.
So why the slippery language? Did you see the entire interview 15 hours ahead of everyone else, thanks to 'friends in the media'? Or did you base your review of a 45-minute interview on two minutes or less of promos clips? Enquiring minds want to know! I expect a direct answer to this question.
"I ought not been attacked for that belief"
I thought you were questioned not for your belief, but over your damaged credibility thanks to an odd claim to have viewed something 15 hours before it existed.
"I resent being called a liar"
I don't believe anyone has said you are a liar. The concern is that your story didn't add up and people don't believe you. That makes your story look untrue. An appearance that we are eager for you to dispel.
"particularly by the likes of some of the posters here"
Well none of them has claimed to have seen something they couldn't possibly have seen, so that gives them a leg up on you I'm afraid.

The morning of the day it aired. Of course, it didn't air in the morning. CBS Evening news is 18:30 Hours, US EST. The interview itself was pre-recorded and, apparently shared rather widely. That's not so od, is it. I still don't understand your hostility and your overly-sensitive nature. Borne of denial, who knows. At any rate, I enjoy your blog and most of your bloggers. Blackthon's mindless repetition is a bit tedious, but he seems to enjoiy hearing himself, so no problem for me.

This story of yours is getting more and more confusing. The Beck interview wasn't from the CBS Evening News. It was Couric's first of a weekly series of interviews published online. As for your claim that it was "shared rather widely" before it was published, that's just factually untrue. I'm not aware of one website that published it ahead of CBS, which would be evidence that it was shared 'rather widely'. Can you point to some of these websites, and perhaps also explain how none of the media and/or tech writers reported on this breach of CBS's embargo? If it happened 'widely' I'm sure there were numerous reports about it.
If you want to understand what you call my 'hostility' it could be because of the far-fetched nature of your claims. That and the fact that each time you were asked about it, up until this last time, you refused to answer or even address it. How odd.
But I asked you for a direct answer to a question, and you have yet again not answered. I'm not going to repeat the question, it's right above your comment. But this is your last opportunity to either answer it one way or another, or not.

Johnny, even if you became so credulous that your brain rattled in your head like a dried pinto bean, you could believe everything this character has said, and it would STILL be the case that he didn't have enough information to write a critique of an interview as yet to be aired.

First, I never said that my source, other than promo clips, was the web, did I? Secondly, I rather pointedly said that you were not the only one with connections to media sources. One would think, as a solicitor, you would make a deduction from that. Rather obviously portions, substantial portions of the interview were available, post-recording and pre-broadcast, to other media outlets. If you know the workings of the media, you would know that this is as common as pre-release of books with a delayed dissemination stamp. In part, it's a professional courtesy, and in part it is a means of boosting interest in a story. You have never been included in this? That surprises me a great deal. Thirdly, I was unaware of any demands made upon me by you to vomit out facts. I didn't realize that you had ordained yourself a master interrogator with the power and authority to order the production of informationm at your very whim. That must be very nice for you. In point of fact, you need to thank me for responding to your demand once I knew of it so very promptly. I must say, Koldys, I don't visit your site often, and I seldom post. I usually do so only when I am in the States or just after I have returned when I have fresh, reliable impressions. You know, FOX, unlike the CNN and BBC does not have a world-wide presence. It is a parochial news network, and, as such, of interest to me and my non-American friends in the UK and on the Continent. They find it a amusing and perplexing.
Speaking of CNN, I tuned in as I was dressing and heard a "Breaking News" report from the Haiti desk in Atlanta. I had to laugh. Then, to top that, the reporter (whose name I don't know) spoke with a High British accent and pronounced Port of Prince in the correct French manner. How very American is that? I found it heart-warming.
Well, I am sure you have someone else who watches ALL cable news, including FOX, with a critical eye to judge harshly, unfairly and without foundation. I won't keep you from your efforts.

OK I gave one last try to answer a simple, direct question, and you spat out a Niagra of words like a pettifogging lawyer. And surprise, you didn't answer! In fact I am the master interrogator here, I invoke Moderator's Privilege when it's applicable (as it is in this case), and given multiple opportunities to answer a simple question you have pointedly, deliberately refused to do so.
So has it been written, so shall it be done.
