I'm sure all of the networks are worried about their ratings if Obama is clearly going to win. Do they hold off calling some states while voting in California and the west coast was still going on last time? We all know NY and MA are going blue, but what if they announce OH as for Obama before CA is even done? I know this question has come up in previous elections, but forget exactly what the resolution was.

Keith Olbermann may launch another O'Reilly Attack tonight because there's a link at HuffPo recapping his "View" appearance. (I won't link to it here, but I have in the Wednesday Recappers Thread at OlbyWatch.) The attack will either come in WPitW or a full segment attack with a guest. Besides mentioning that Joy Behar invoked Oralmann's name, BOR's friendly non-serious jokes about Obama being a communist and a socialist will be taken out of context and seriously. Expect Keith to use the Ted Baxter voice as he reads the mini-quotes listed in the HuffPo link. The "condensed" video in that link may also be used in the case of a full segment.

Thanks J$, Joy Behar couldn't handle the truth when Bill O'Reilly confronted her about how she treated John McCain on the show...

And other thing, Joy Behar telling Bill O'reilly stop the name calling and what did she do. Joy Behar called Rush Limbaugh on The View a "Terrorist". Joy Behar = Hypocrite

so lastnight-olbermann went off about being 1st in the ratings while he is in third-i checked oreilly site to see whats the lineup-and in the last segment is reailty check-msnbc vs foxnews- i already know how this will go- oreilly will claim olbermann is wrong and bring up the TOTAL ratings and the weekly ratings- foxnews, cnn and in the distance msnbc-the reason i'm predicting this is because i've watched oreilly do it over and over-the truth is orelly will be right and olbermann well kinda right in the since that if you look at the demo for that one night-keith was 1st (quick side note-there are two radio stations in boston that claim there #1-one in one demo and the other in another-so its not unusual for two to claim to be #1) now where am i wrong??

Well Chris, O'Reilly pretty much destroyed your prediction because he told the total AND demo 25-54 ratings tonight. Both of which he DOMINATES poor little Olby on. I almost feel sorry for the low-rated douchebag.

I didn't see much of any cable news tonight (Rays tie up Series) but I did see that one segment, FF.
I was surprised that BOR said he wins in the demo 94% of the time. I would have thought the percentage would have been higher then that.
I wonder what time frame BOR based it on.

fox fan: he told the total AND demo 25-54 ratings tonight
me:oreilly will claim olbermann is wrong and bring up the TOTAL ratings and the weekly ratings- foxnews, cnn and in the distance
verdict: i was HALF right: oreilly DID BRING UP THE TOTAL RATINGS and NOT BY NAME SAID OLBERMANN IS WRONG-BUT HE DID IGNORE THAT ONE NIGHT THAT HE GOT BEATEN and bring up ALL the other nights he won in the demo (kind like olbermann does!!!)
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/ratings/the_scoreboard_tuesday_oct_21_98295.asp#more
demo (tuesday)
olbermann: 935
maddow: 867
cooper 841
oreilly: 742
even though oreilly DID HAVE more viewers overall-in the key demo he lost

O'Reilly never mentioned a singular night, why would he? Anomalies happen.
The fact stands that O'Reilly has been #1 for what, 75 months straight now? Only Olby has to massage the numbers and count fractional time snippets to claim victories. O'Reilly can just tell the truth and win.
Last night Bill also threw Neilsen ratings under the bus for being in the tank for the left. He proved it with numbers for monetary donations of its executivesto the democrats vs republicans, questioning the accuracy in general because he should have even HIGHER numbers!
There is no debate over ratings of BOR vs KO. KO is KO'd day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, it gives me a little buzz!

Chris,
A better question than the one you asked is this: Why do you and Olbermann focus on outliers and aberrations rather than the entire study?

i was talking about the DEMO-UNLESS TVNEWSER TELLS LIES WHEN THEY PRINT OLBERMANN BEATS OREILLY ON CERTAIN NIGHTS- BUT YET SOMEHOW IS TELLING THE TRUTH WHEN OREILLY BEATS OLBERMANN????????

Chris, before you challenge Neilsen ratings vs some smalltime half-assed TV poll please post the numbers of both. Neilsen has millions upon millions of cable boxes and subscribers. What does Olby's "alternative ratings system" have?

Did you miss it when O'Reilly said he wins the demo 94% of the time? Since 94% is less than 100% that means he didn't avoid the fact that he loses the demo some of the time.

So what. He won the total 100% of the time. As I already said, who wins in ratings is not debatable. O'Reilly wins all the time in total, and 94% of the time in demo! How is that a win for an Olby fan? lol

i wasnt challenging the ratings!! OREILLY WAS!! HE NEVER EVER COMPLAINED WHEN NIELSEN RATINGS POSTED ON TVNEWSER SHOWED HIM BEATING OLBERMANN-NOW HE DOES BECAUSE OF ONE-I REPEAT ONE NIGHT THIS WEEK-ITS ALL FIXED NOW? ALL OF A SUDDEN????????? OREILLYS EGO IS SO HUGE THAT ONE HE CANT BRING UP OLBERMANNS NAME AND TWO WHEN HE IS DEFEATED HE COMPLAINS OH IT MUST BE FIXED-
AS FOR WHY I DIDNT BRING UP THE WHOLE THING:
even though oreilly DID HAVE more viewers overall-in the key demo he lost
chris | 10.24.08 - 9:36 am | #
EVEN THOUGH I DIDNT POST THE WHOLE NUMBERS I DID BRING IT UP!!!! I SAID THAT THIS MORNING THAT OREILLY BEAT OLBERMANN!!! WHY SHOULD I POST THE NUMBERS WHEN I SAID THAT?? I EVEN PROVIDED A LINK!!!
come on foxfan??
to all fox viewers: are you drinking so much foxnews kool-aid that if a negative story comes out about fox-you cant trust it?? (talking about brians contract-of course his agent will DENY IT-THEY DONT WANT TO MAKE THEMSELVES OR FOX LOOK BAD-WOULD U DO THE SAMETHING-DENY A STORY THAT WAS TRUE?? I WOULD AND I'M BEING HONEST ABOUT IT)
I'M TIRED OF ALL THE MEDIA ANYWAYS-NONE NONE OF THEM ARE DOING THERE JOBS-FOCUSING ON ALL STUPID USELESS TOPICS THAT WONT SOLVE ANY ISSUES IN THIS COUNTYR-WRIGHT,AYES,PALINS CLOTHES,TROOPERGATE ETC ETC.

@Fox Fan: Next time try reading and understanding the whole post before you accuse someone of being an "Olby fan". Your two posts that proceeded mine hadn't even showed up yet when I posted so I wasn't even talking to you. And that would have been apparent anyway if you had bothered to read the second sentence.
@chris: Your whole point was that you predicted O'Reilly wouldn't mention the demo loss to Olbermann. You were wrong since he mentions that he wins the demo 94% of the time, which means he's admitting that he doesn't always win the demo. The reason he complained about the ratings was because the New York Times was being dishonest about how great MSNBC is supposedly doing and that FNC is on the verge of collapse and is spending tons of money to "fix" it. Which isn't even close to being true.
As far as the demo goes, when it comes to cable news, it isn't as important as it is with entertainment programming. Otherwise you wouldn't see so many ads that are obviously geared towards older people. For Olbermann to only tout the demo is basically him saying that 2/3 of his audience doesn't even matter. And even if Olbermann continues to get the occasional demo win, O'Reilly will still be making two and a half times as much money so that's another victory that O'Reilly can claim 100% of the time.

demo me this demo me that: did you READ the nytimes article? and if u didnt go read it
here is the link:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/23/business/media/23adco.html?_r=1&scp=2&sq=Bill%20Carter&st=cse&oref=slogin
read it and get back to me
it was mainly about advertsing!!! oreilly doesnt mention that
also: verdict: i was HALF right: oreilly DID BRING UP THE TOTAL RATINGS but was WRONG on the demo
also check out the reality check segment (thursday) where oreilly brings up the nytimes and NIELSEN (AFTER oreilly talks bout the nytimes-and he calls for a investigation-dont believe me? watch the video on oreilly foxnews site
http://www.foxnews.com/oreilly/index.html
so OREILLY IS CHALLENGING THE NIELSEN RATINGS SINCE HE DOESNT LIKE THEM-SOUNDS LIKE A POOR BABY TO ME!!!

sorry about the caps-but it was my way of expression myself- and since i try to be fair: in fridays thread: i did comment that msnbc is cheap about going in HD and others that i cant remember right now (one instance is that i caught the NH in a lie last year where they claimed Oreilly didnt bring up Bill Mahers show when in fact he did) you will see when i comment i will take BOTH sides to task!!
