Nice upper - lower placement of Greta and BOR. Such tremendous egos, very little room for anything else in between the two. Greta is really, really getting full of herself. You've done good work in the past, Greta, but what have you done lately? Not much. Very little, indeed.

Then, America's biggest blowhard, even bigger than KO, and that's saying a lot. The startling revelation through BOR's water carrier Bernie that the MSM didn't cover Wright and Pfleger to the same extent as cable news .... Wow! Maybe, because without the luxury of endless airtime the MSM drew the conclusion that the story didn't deserve hours and hours of repetitive play and invective? An object lesson in the value of prioritization, if ever there was one.

And, Jane, pick-up whatever's left of your pride and get the hell away from Bill and Bernie. The pattern is set. You'll never get to say anything. Bill will shout over you, everytime you make a substantive point, and Bernie will talk down to you. What an amazing capacity the man has for condescension.

I think if the goal were to have put FNC in the worst possible light, these two stories did it.

By the way, saw Eric Burns on Rachel last night. He appears to be in the process of porking up for the winter, but he was very, very good. Precise, yet detailed, discussing Corsi and the second volume in his "Book of Lies".

Burns has very organized thought processes and commends himself in an interview very well. Of course, I always like "News Watch" when he hosted it.

Sorry to miss Eric Burns last night.
But when I saw that Rachel was hosting I quickly grabbed the remote.
Of course, I don't watch KO either.
So a loss for me. I always liked Eric.

Any chance we could have larger fonts on these comments?

Because of the chaotic out of control behavior in another thread, all posting will be closed for a cooling off period. This is the worst display of name-calling, personal attacks, off-topic garbage, that I've seen since this site began. Any posts made during the cooling off period will be strictly moderated and will eventually appear only if they pass the test.

I would like to see Burns make on the air. I have always found him to be a competent and balanced interviewer/facilitator. He is far better than the terribly compromised Kurtz. I don't think it is fair to judge "News Watch" yet, being somewhat adrift. My initial impression is that, without Burns, it suffers greatly, perhaps irreparably. Time will tell if I am correct.
---
Lyons: I have to say I am becoming increasingly fond of Maddow. She has been finding her voice, and I think she is on the verge of breaking through. One of the things I like best about her is her chemistry with Buchanan. They so seldom agree with each other, but they seem to really bring out the best in one another. They also seem to be developing a fondness for one another, even in vehement disagreement.

Thanks for trying to clean up the mess, Johnny. Sorry it came to this.

HF,

What's laughable is the idea that you are presenting that people watch stuff that does not appeal to them.

Hannity may not be fair and balanced (his mission is indeed to present only one side of the argument) but Hannity & Colmes is.

If you doubt that look at all the laudatory things that Ellen says about Colmes. In fact, after reading her, I wonder if the show unfair to conservatives . . . since according to Ellen, Colmes is so effective and Hannity is so bad.

a few people maybe. But we are dealing with hundreds of thousands of people. When you are dealing with large numbers of people that is hardly likely,

You are really turning marketing theory on its head. You are suggesting that the best way to get a targeted group of people to pay attention to your ad and/or programing is place content in same that does not appeal to your targeted audience. That is the opposite what marketers normally do.

That again is why I call your assertion to be both absurd and laughable.

And if you consider the number those people who do not consider themselves to be Republican or Democrat-- the Independents, you can easily see that the FNC attracts Republicans voting for McCain, Independents voting for McCain, and some Dems who aren't going to vote for Obama.

So again, just judging things on the argument you've made:

CNN and MSNBC, has Republicans who aren't voting for McCain, but all the Dems are, as are all the Independents.

FNC, the place for Dems of EVERY stripe!

Keith,

Since the numbers don't add up, my guess is that a lot of data was thrown away.

The pollsters were only interested data that belonged to people whom they defined as a Fox watcher as opposed to people they defined as a CNN watcher etc.,

What is their definition of a Fox viewer? Is it someone who watches Fox some number of hours a week?

I don't know.

When you look at the people who watch Fox on the average, the imbalance between Obama supporters and McCain supporters is not a great as what you are suggesting. The Pew numbers tell me that.

This is really incredible, when you think about it, that the numbers for Fox are as good as they are. Especially, since Obama has trashed Fox on many occasions.

Can I ever show up here without a troll invasion, challenge/response duel, name-calling barage, or assuming someone is someone else (or more than one) when they're really not?
I know the answer to that question. Of course not! I can never feel comfortable here. The far-left trolls create havoc, the moderate-to-far-right regulars feed on it, and the moderate-to-center right (myself, FF) and center-to-moderate left regulars (Mark) are left in the middle. I'm tired of being a friendly diplomat that lies down for the regulars that feed on the havoc. The best way to get them to go away is to ignore them! Johnny will do away with them before long.

HF,

Some time back, Obama singled out a person from the audience. Obama said that man should go on Fox; that he would "tear Hannity up."

Obligingly, Hannity had the man on his radio and television show, and Hannity did not get torn up.

Hannity has offered Obama the opportunity to appear on H&C as Hannity's cohost. Obama would have the entire hour to "tear Hannity up."

Why won't Obama accept the offer? It could only help him politically. In many ways, it is a better offer than he has received from other networks.

And. . . if he want someone to tear Hannity up, it looks like he will need to do the job himself.

Probably never. Keith hasn't interviewed a person he disagrees with politically for some two years. There is a running list kept.

And remember Keith has called McCain a delusional old man and a liar. As a result, Keith says he has "recused himself" from interviewing people he has attacked. Quite a neat little arrangement there to keep the Countdown guest list 'pure'.

Why would McCain go on a show where the host calls him such vile things?

Olbermann said that McCain "services the President."

We all know what "services" mean.

Do you think it's appropriate for a news anchor to use such terms on someone like John McCain? Or Obama or any public figure?

These are indefensible statements by Olbermann.

He has no business hosting a news show or co-anchoring the election coverage.

I think we need to ask ourselves this question....What size of brown envelope was allegedly bunged to Ed Rendell to say this on Cavuto right out of the blue?

Again, back to the issue that you're ducking: You made the argument that McCain is ducking Olbermann, that he (McCain) would appear on the show if he wanted.

Do you think it's appropriate for a news anchor to say that a Presidential candidate "services the President"?

Why would a Presidential candidate who is called a "terrorist", a "liar" and "delusional" on national television want to be interviewed by such a thoroughly unprofessional journalist?

See if you can answer this without using the words "O'Reilly" or "Hannity".

I know that a political moderate and sensible and fair person like you would never defend such behavior. Right?

Actually Fox fan a democratic white house might put the "screws on fox" becuase people would turn to MSNBC or CNN because Obamas cabinet is more likely to talk to networks who treated them equal as MCCain not like Fox does (terrorist fist jab, osama obama mixed up w/ pics, fake snide apologies) FOx could whine and complain all they want but if Obama wins a Republican wont be in the White House for many years to come. And to me their is nothing better than a happy giddy Olberman. Also in ratings in the demographics i think 18-52 American Morning usually is close to F&f when Kiran is there hosting, that is Fox's biggest mistake, should have let Carlson go..

Simple.

As the Right would say...If McCain can't handle a simple interview with Keith...How on earth can he be expected to handle stuff like AQ/OBL.

Fox should let ED Hill do the first Obama interview if he becomes President what do you think her first question would be. "How about the fist jab, whats up with that?"

I never heard of 18-52, but I have heard of 25-54 and 18-49. And in both categories quarterly ratings show AM gets less than half the viewers of F&F.

What's Obama going to do about the four times MSNBC has mixed up Obama and Osama? Are they going to get the 'screws' put to them too? I worry about an administration attempting to put 'screws' to the press. Sounds a little Nixonian. I believe in the 1st Amendment.

Haggis you have to start telling the truth. Oralmann won't have McCain on his show. He won't interview him because he hasn't interviewed an opposing voice in over two years. And he has publicly stated he 'recuses' himself from interviewing anyone he has attacked on air, particularly in a special comment.

So unless you have some fresh perspective on this that isn't a fabrication...

On tv newser it said something like that, but you have to admit that F&f has more credibility when Chetry was there and when Alysyn is there, much better interviewers, no softball questions.

Again, a refusal to address the questions.

It isn't, of course, an issue of "handling" such an unprofessional person such as Olbermann. It is a question of dignifying such a retrograde person.

Why would McCain wish to diminish his stature by appearing with a person who regularly and repeatedly violates all standards of ethical and responsible journalism?

And let it be noted , that our sensible, moderate guest simply won't answer the questions.

Actually, he (or she) can't; but I'm being charitable.

I knew there would be a simple explanation for this...And I'd be lying all over the place...Believe me...If the McCain camp asked to be on Countdown...Keith would jump at it....Hannity/O'Reilly are just miffed that Keith has interviewed Obama.

Hannity doesn't expect to get an interview, unless Colmes whips up a one-on-one without Hannity like he's done with Edwards, Clinton, etc.

O'Reilly does expect an interview, because Obama told him he'd do it. I suspect anyone would be miffed by someone who doesn't keep his word, but there's still time for it to happen.
