Fox and friends all over energy issues this morning. And Ralph Reed was there to pimp his book.

He made the statement that ANWR will supply 16 billion barrels of oil,the equivalent of 30 years production from Saudi Arabia. If true, then our problems are over. This will be the biggest oil discovery since, well, the discovery of the Saudi fields in the 20's.

Unfortunately,Mr Reed was lying.

We have 200 billion barrels in North Dakota that Congress wont let us touch.

Johnny, I hope this is on-topic because it addresses nvh's post on what Ralph Reed said this a.m. on F & F. If not, do know that I had no intention of breaking your rules.

According to the govt:

http://tinyurl.com/69642

Reed gave the high water figure of the TOTAL estimated amount of oil at ANWR, regardless of the technology and cost required to get it. A comment that he should have mediated a bit.

I'm not good at numbers or charts, so read it and see for yourself.

Here's the summary from the site:

"Using a methodology similar to that used in previous USGS assessments in the ANWR and the National Petroleum Reserve—Alaska, this study estimates that the total quantity of technically recoverable oil in the 1002 area is 7.7 BBO (mean value), which is distributed among 10 plays. Most of the oil is estimated to occur in the western, undeformed part of the ANWR 1002 area, which is closest to existing infrastructure. Furthermore, the oil is expected to occur in a number of accumulations rather than a single large accumulation. Estimates of economically recoverable oil, expressed by probability curves, show increasing amounts of oil with increasing price. At prices less than $13 per barrel, no commercial oil is estimated, but at a price of $30 per barrel, between 3 and 10.4 billion barrels are estimated. Economic analysis includes the costs of finding, developing, producing, and transporting oil to market based on a 12 percent after-tax return on investment, all calculated in constant 1996 dollars."

I think this will be the last word on oil drilling. And I think I am going to be a little more proactive watching for the little off-topic attacks that kick start these digressions.

Johnny, what a piece on the Baier family! I'm glad you linked to TVN's as well so we could see the "all boy" looking Paul Baier.

While at TVN I read on down to the article about Janice Dean. I had no idea that she has MS. I've liked her since her days on Imus.

We linked to that blog entry of hers last weekend (just pointing out how we're ahead of the other sites) and have followed her MS battle here as well. There's a new link up now about her being well enough to be back at work today.

You go, Katie! I would say that qualifies as a "diss." A good one, too.

Jossip's bit on Katie Couric's remarks should read "anonymous, couched, and intentionally diverted".

It was Brian Williams who admitted that he found it hard to be objective about Obama.

But then, I guess Chris could have made that statement at one time or another too.

(Olbermann would consider any championing of any preference he personally feels to be the very pinnacle of objectivity...)

I was glad to read that Janice Dean is feeling better and back at work. Was the illness she had M.S.-related?
I'm actually looking at jobs at Time Warner and there's a few production assistant jobs at CNN in New York. I don't know what "In Session Program News" is, but it probably relates to CNN. Either way, I may not like CNN's programming, or MSNBC's for that matter, but work is work.

I suspect you are right about this, but what does it say about FNC that it essentially quick kicked on a truly unique election, and such an important one. I surfed through all the cable news networks during the primary, and FNC was, surprisingly, dead. Hume acted like he resented being there and the panel was, largely dull and dreary.

We've all been partying pretty hard since you left, so I may have missed something, but I would truly appreciate the supporting cable news links. No Beck, Dobbs, Hannity are O'Reilly necessary or desired, nor any articles. I'm well-read, and I know what the periodicals and journals say. Also, no Wiener references, please. If you don't have any supporting links, let's move on from this topic. I am.

I am popping the champagne corks and find the idea that the almighty primaries are the most important news event each week to be false. The Republican side of the equation was over 8 to 10 weeks ago, as a result the interest revolved around the democrat side of the equation. Where are liberal democrats going to go to watch results? You got the answer without my help.

I don't drink pop (soda), but coffee- the stronger, the better- and tea are my daily indulgences. Very light cream and sugar, a dusting of cinnamon. I make my coffee in a French press every morning. Love the grit!

There never was any "KOmentum". KO is meaningless, as his and his network's ratings prove. Behind the "tomato network", lol.
