This from the NYT piece:
"...a pillar of Foxs strategy, at least in the weeks since Mr. Obama vanquished Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, has been to bash him relentlessly."
The gist of this article seems to be,Fox is No 1,but rapidly losing ground. It may be that Mr Murdoch is regretting his decision to identify Fox so closely with the Republican party. As the party's prospects decline,so does his network.
Of course,he(and Fox) will probably just hunker down, try to hold the audience he has,and just become the (dis)loyal opposition.

NYT publishes an article about how FNC is losing ground. Who's hiring, and who's firing? The NYT is the journalistic LOSER of last year.
These people are off the charts hypocrites, partisan liars, and their writers aren't even good anymore.
Every time I go into a Starbucks, I with they would take the NYT out of the top racks of all their stands. It makes me question Starbuck's values.

New York Times in mass layoffs, but FNC is the one going down the tubes.
Olby is gaining and O'Reilly is losing.
How long have we heard this?
Okay, maybe a lot of people went to CNN for political coverage. But one place they didn't go to was MSKOS.
Speaking of Olby, Thanks for the heads up Monday. I'm sure after you're posting at Kos there are a few of your basement dweller fans that are sitting in front of their tv sets right now!
I think thats the same Demo that hangs out in front of theatres for six months so they can be the first in line for the next Star Wars movie.

I do think "lie" is used much too easily around here, by a wide range of people on a wide range of topics. The use of "lie" or some form of the word tends to say more about the poster than the subject. I can see little reason for its use.

And, HF, don't worry too much about McCain's embarassment. No one takes Hannity all that seriously.
I do have to hand it to Olbermann. I saw the clip and Hannity did do one of the world's fastest 180 degrees. For all his many, many faults, I thought Olbermann highlighted that beautifully and deserves a kudo or two. Ever get the impression Hannity is none too bright?

Oh, you mean referring to the NY Times piece about this, that mentioned the Obama "Muslim" angle eight times? Since that is roughly four times more than F&F you really should address your question to the NY Times, since it was their story that made it onto F&F this morning. And your painting it as something generated by F&F is another bit of dishonesty, if I'm any judge.
Now I suggest you start to moderate the numbers of posts you make over a given time period. I am involved with family stuff for a few more days and I won't have the time or patience to deal with thread hogs in any but the most heavy handed fashion.

Watching the rebroadcast of Wallace (Panel segment) and Hume just made this passionate argument, in essence, it is fine for McCain to flip-flop, but not Obama, because McCain has a longer record and people know him better. That was so transparent Wallace couldn't let it slide.
Then, the Le Roi Retractor Kristol (speaking of the NYT) comes on and says Senator Obama's next flip flop will be on the war and he will visit Iraq, returning to announce that he is not in favor of immediate withdrawal. Facts, Leroy: Obama has not been arguing for an immediate withdrawal.
Well, some things enever change.

I suppose as your attention has been otherwise required, you missed this, Johnny, as well as the actual broadcast:
HUME: Obama is a guy, unlike McCain, who hasn't made a lot of compromises. So these changes that he's -- these shifts he's undergoing are remarkable.
Then Wallace says:
WALLACE: And the one point I disagree with with Brit, some of them are recent -- for instance, drilling. He has flipped on that in just the last couple of weeks.
---
Ashley:
Anything more recent than a year ago? The primary rather evidenced a change didn't it, a realization that an orderly withdrawal of the troops, which even Bush said would have started by now, was not possible? Leroy seems to agree with this:
KRISTOL: Voters tend not to blame candidates if they adjust their views, A, based on a plausible notion that circumstances have changed.
Let's all try to deal with what was said and not what we would have liked our respective heroes to have said.
---
I won't go into the gun ruling discussion other than to say Hume resorted to canards there. "When guns are illegal ...." This was not a very good day for Hume. A bit weary, perhaps.

> Hume just made this passionate argument, in essence, it is fine for McCain to flip-flop, but not Obama, because McCain has a longer record and people know him better. That was so transparent Wallace couldn't let it slide.
LIASSON: Look, one of the reasons he can do this is because he's a blank slate and he's fairly new. One of the downsides of that is when you are a blank slate, you are open to being defined by your opponent if you can't define yourself satisfactorily to voters before he does that.
WALLACE: But, Mara, don't you think if the main point, the main theme, of his campaign is I'm not another politician, when he's caught doing things that seem to be just another politician, isn't that more hurtful to him than it might be to someone else?
Hume didn't talk about a longer record and people know him better. Mara Liasson did. And you wrongly attributed Mara's comment to Hume. Q.E.D.

OTM - I'm sure there are more things recent than a year ago, I found that article in about 2 seconds, but its so comical because I'm hearing complaints about McCain flip flopping about a speech he gave against off shore drilling 8 years ago.
If you want to find BO flip flopping of a more recent nature than one year, listen to what he says tomorrow, then listen again in a few days and you'll hear the flip flop.
By the way, does BO still want the US to invade Pakistan, or has he flip flopped on that too? He was totally for public financing of presidential campaigns, now he's not, he was for marijuana legalization before he was against it, FISA, beautiful FISA, and the adventure continues.....

My dear, Johnny, that is your point, it is not my point. I documented my point from me recollection of the segment, then immediately concluded and from the RCP you linked. My point is fully supported.
I'm not sure what your point is, but I assume it is Liasson's point, since you cite her, that Senator Obama has the risk of being defined by a wide variety of matters.
And no, I did not attribute Liasson's comment to Hume. You merely said I did. RIL.

Fact is, Ashley, I am little concerned with legitimate changes in opinion. It shows growth and character, a lesson many, many recent posters could learn, and I am as little concerned about McCain's changes on energy, immmigration, torture, etc., as I am about Senator Obama's on Iraq. In fact, for both men, I believe "refinement" might be a more appropriate term.

OTM, JM's changes on "immigration" has been on "illegal immigration". did you intentionally omit that word? How has he changed on torture? His change on energy comes when gas prices shoot through the roof. Situation changes and he changes. His answer to fix the problem is to drill, BO's solution is to tax. I choose drill.
June 29, 2008, 7:36:54 PM EDT – Like – Reply

Well, drilling will help, although we're not even drilling 50% of the leased capacity, now, for a good reason. If we were, we couldn't refine it. So, in 25 years or so, destruction and ANWR will give us a trickle of oil. Sounds to me like the drilling argument might be a shell game. One Leroy is bought and dispersed forcefully and frequently. I think it best to stick to the fact: Nothing, anyone can do right now will help in the least, save and except a consumer use reduction and perhaps a release from the Strategic Reserve. The latter, of course, would be short term and dangerous.
McCain and Clinton both proposed a gas tax holiday, something which the voters, at least by polling data had the good sense to reject. McCain's, as I recall, was to just stop the tax for 60-90 days, thereby marginally assisting gas guzzlers while jeopardizing public works projects and those employed in them, and Clinton's was for the oil companies to pay taxes for 60-90 days. That was rich, as if they wouldn't be passed onto consumers. Seems that on this point, Senator Obama is at least inteleectually honest.
As to the adjective, I should make too much of the word in this instance since McCain's position, originally, was amensty (despite refusing to use that word).
Now, if you will, we are far too off topic, and I promised not to do that. So, please excuse me if I don't respond to any more posts on these issues. They are vital issues, and they are fascinating. You argue them ably, and your arguments are useful and enjoyable to me. They're just off topic. Not a rule I made.
