What an interesting mélange of links to this point (1202 Hours/GMT)! Together, they are all heading in a similar direction: Heading into the election and in the aftermath of it, I expect FNC to be the least recognizable of all the cable news networks. NBC/MSNBC has some dust to settle over the Russert replacement, and on the broadcast side, perhaps impacting the cable side as well, we have the Couric matter. Still, the pure Ailes' days at FNC may be eclipsing, and Murdoch seems to be in the process of slowly turning FNC into a mainline news organizations. I think, if that happens, it will be great news for cable viewers, and it will be great fun to watch the metamorphosis.

"Why is Fox News Protecting Obama?"
Alger Hiss and the Red Menace???Does this resonate with anyone anymore?Well,I'm sure we'll find out.
Why isn't Fox all over this?
Well, my first impulse is to say that even Fox has standards of relevence.Though my more cynical side suspects that they're just saving it for October, when it will float like a wooden rowboat that's been in storage for 50 years.

In the last couple of months of the campaign, when everyone knew or should have known it was over, FNC was a safe port for HRC & Co. We can assign motives for that, or we can chose not to do so. I'll refrain. In all honesty, as HRC redefined herself and her campaign, out of necessity, our of desperation, the demographic intersection between FNC and HRC widened. Seems to me to have been a natural partnership. In other words, I think the point is well-taken, even if the rationale offered is --- suspect.

Ms. Abeles is soon becoming a victim of SNOBamessiah's politics of hope and change.
When one assesses the democrat party nominee on his slim resume and radical leftist ideology and comes to the conclusion he is not their cup of tea, one must fear the label of "racist."
I wonder if we have to worry about this in a hypothetical SNOBamessiah presidency when, if one opposes his policies, one will be labeled a racist in the debate and essentially be marginalized?
A good question...Using the racist label in this new era of change and hope....What a bright future!

Well, Mr. Sucks, I can't decipher what you are talking about initially, but the causal connection between death threats, if any, and Olbermann is extrordinarily tenouous. I rather find the story to be bogus and infammatory, anyway.
McCain and the RNC set up the ClintonsforMcCain website, Ms. Abeles' primary vehicle when she is not excluding African Americans from Jefferson Day celebrations, up in mid-May, immediately after the decisive North Carolina primary, but prior to Senator Clinton's ultimate concession. We have three (3) factors at work here:
#1 An extraordinarily disaffected woman who craves publicity.
#2 A rather desperate and exploitive McCain campaign and RNC thrashing about wildly for anything to give them an edge in an increasingly dark period and willing to give a publicity hound publicity.
#3 A cable news industry trying to fill time slots with hopefully sensational stories that seldom mean squat.
No story here. None. Nichts. Rien. Nada.
Move on ....
Of course, we can still talk about Olbermann's skin tint.

I'm starting to get sick of seeing the word "SNOBamessiah."
One of the guests on "F&F" this morning (which I'm watching on my DVR now) was Rep. Gene Green (D-TX). I couldn't help but refer to him as "Gene Green, the dancing machine!"
I am on the side of Paula Abeles and all Hillary supporters that have switched to McCain. You go, girls!

> McCain and the RNC set up the ClintonsforMcCain website, Ms. Abeles' primary vehicle
Well you are veering rather off-target here, since the point of the link was Olbermann's treatment of her and what followed. However, I'm not sure what the fact that the RNC set up a website to promote McCain among Hillary supporters has to do with anything. Are there no Republicans for Obama websites? And since I couldn't even find this website I couldn't verify that this was her "primary vehicle" for anything whatsoever.
Please, let's try not to fight the '08 election here, but concentrate on the cable news angles.

And to expand on what I said about Ms. Abeles, besides being sick of what I said before, I'm also sick of people like Monkeymann labeling every Clinton supporter that goes to McCain a racist, even by merely implying that. I feel very sorry for her and what's she gone through in the last few days.

I have no job at this site, and my avocation is most certainly not to defend Olbermann. Not only he is indefensible, but I am certain I find Olbermann more offensive than you.
Much as I am glad a Hannity or a Beck or a Dobbs or a Doocy are not on my "side," I wish Olbermann were not. He is ridiculous and an embarassment. Whenever I hear a preface to a news story saying that a victim of a tornado or an exploding toilet or an escaped mongoose will tell his story after the break, I always pray that the victim will not be a Texan, so I won't have to endure hearing how "That sucker sounded like a damn train, but even more louder.," or "The commode smelt real funny afore it blowed up.," or "It was so sweet looking, but damn that booger's teeth are sharp. 114 stitches and the pain pounds when the rain comes up." I feel the same about Olbermann. Please don't embarass yourself or me, I always pray.

I made this same comment at OW, but need to preface it with a response to the comments that Ms. Abeles is not a news story. In the first place, given the large number of votes Clinton got in the primaries, who her supporters will shift their allegience to (if anyone) in November is very relevant. In that context, the fact that Ms. Abeles is now supporting McCain is also significant. Why doesn't her stated reason (Obama's lack of experience) get any credit? The only reason she could possibly be supporting McCain is either racism or she's seeking publicity? The timing of the threats and KO's public characterization of her as a racist are too close to be coincidental.
Everyone remember how the Kossacks were outraged that KOs home was identified in the NY Post story about his tax problems? They were worried that right-wing nuts would go down to his home and, I dont know, egg it or something. Leaving aside for a moment that nothing like that has happened to KO, proving their concerns unfounded, we need to see if there is an equal level of outrage over these actual threats to Ms. Abeles.

I think the point of the ad was the deli guy--most likely a British actor using a fake NY accent (British, Australian, New Zealand, and South African actors and actresses love to perform roles with American accents)--was replacing the mom...or mum, if you will. And European ads tend to take it to the extreme. This one was no different. You wouldn't see it here.
This is related to cable news because the ad was shown in last night's "Weekdays with Bernie and Jane" segment on "The Factor." The first half of the segment was on Michelle Obama's new image (Not a bashing of her).

Is there now a police or FBI report concerning the threats against Ms Abeles available.I'm not saying that this did not happen, but I would like more information than Ms Abeles' word.
It should be easy for an enterprising reporter to verify this item.Perhaps someone can direct me to these important news items.
Ms Abeles DID try to block descendants of Sally Hemmings from attending a Jefferson Day event.I think that is a valid piece of information to report.KO overplayed the implications, but as they say in court "goes to motive, your honor".

Perhaps you would like to regard this as an example of instigation. First, she is not starting up another new show on Saturday. So that's a false statement to start it out (something you've had some experience at here). Second, the last show she started took over for a show that was #1 in its time slot for years and was still #1 when she took it over. So that part of your statement is simply provocation.
You might try making commenting in a responsible way rather than trying to instigate food fights. That sort of thing gets old very quickly.

Anyone know if Hume has apologised yet for his for his untruthful comments June 16th?
"Hume falsely claimed Obama's half brother told The Jerusalem Post that Obama had a "Muslim background""

I hate to remind you folks, but, Colbert is on a comedy based channel. O'Reilly is no.1 on a news channel, Colbert on a comedy channel. Next?

"If you're like us, you watch The O'Reilly Factor at least once a day. But sometimes, things get in the way like...watching almost anything else on television. So here's The Factor for Tuesday June 17, condensed to one minute:"

MSNBC unearthed footage of John McCain saying he did not love America until he was held captive in Vietname. He told FoxNews, "I didn't really love America until I was deprived of her company."
Let's see if Hannity tears into this with the same venom...The laugh is it was said on his show.

Why does talking about cable news with a different perspective annoy you?

That goes for everybody here, including OS, Cecelia, Grammie, FF, and Cee. I know you guys want to refute what is being said, but I know this firsthand: If you ignore them, they get bored and go away. Got it?

What's annoying is knowing that he is trying to instigate all the time but remain just this tiny bit before crossing the line.
So it's annoying to know that he's trying to provoke people but yet we can't respond.

I know. There are some message boards that let you block certain members' posts. That way, you won't see what they're saying and it's like they aren't there.

Mike is no more opposed to differing views than I am. But discussing cable news is different from just posting one link after another with a wisecrack. That happens too often and I start to think it's spam, and I have a policy with spammers.

At least they have footage...Fox's Cameron just asks folk on the street who done it...Then reports that as fact(His facts were totally wrong)...Excellent journalism....This happened during the "bombing" of the HC office.
What's happened to the election link vehicles anyway?

My point was msnbc didn't "unearth" anything. They rehashed old news. Big diff.

HF,
Obviously you can't win when you promise that you will provide a link the next day for something, and then you refuse to do so. Not delivering on your promises will cast you into the role of loser every time.
