The FNC online clip "Special Report" was excellent and complete on the analysis of the day's Obama Kabuki theater (Where was the signing ceremony?).

Krauthammer, as always, is intellectually honest in summing up the total fraud that was Obama's promise of "hope & change." VERO POSSUMUS!

It was good to see someone cover 9/11/01 news as the left's hitman, James Carville, wished Bush's failure as the planes were in the air.....how fitting.

On another subject, I hope many will see Matthew's debate with Ari Fleischer. The left's brain trust over at MSNBC once again showed the depth of their intellect (~1").

I second Cee on the Matthews-Fleischer interview.

Strictly concentrating on the cable news angle, without referencing the policy discussed or the politics, Matthew's motivations are utterly transparent and appalling.

His plan (thwarted) was to deliver a tv as Roman coliseum scenario, in which he administered a humiliating smack-down to a pariah to the left.

It didn't work out for him...

It went awry from Matthew's very first salvo (his first sentence...). A salvo where Matthews tried to lay the groundwork for the little play he had in mind. Unfortunately, for Matthews, Fleischer was not rendered nonplused and was able to state the simple reality:

(from Newsbusters' transcript:

CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: But first we begin with the campaign by former aides to President Bush to defend his legacy. Ari Fleischer was the White House -- Ari, what a smiling face to have back on our show! Thank you, sir.

ARI FLEISCHER, FORMER BUSH WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY: Thank you, Chris.

MATTHEWS: What brings you back? Is this the return from Elba? Is this the 100 days of Napoleon`s return from Crawford? What is going on with this network of former Bushies -- current Bushies, I should say -- singing the old song?

FLEISCHER: Well, Chris, I`m here because you invited me to be here.

MATTHEWS: Oh, yes. OK. I appreciate that. But isn`t there a lot of you out there -- I called them the "band of Bushies" -- who are out there trying to remind us of how good he really was?

I liked how it ended too, Cecelia.....

Without arguing the merits of the arguments and simply seeing how the professional journalist concludes the "interview" with passing judgement on Fleischer's "thinking."

FLEISCHER: And I'm proud to take that argument.

MATTHEWS: ... that we no longer have an administration that uses that kind of argument. Thank you very much, Ari Fleischer. And the American people are happier, too. They are, I can assure you. We don't like that thinking anymore in this country.

Coming up...

FLEISCHER: Well, Chris, we all know where you stand.

MATTHEWS: And you, as well, sir. Thank you for coming on.

FLEISCHER: Thank you, Chris.

MATTHEWS: I mean it.

###
This again from the NEWSBUSTER transcript.

"We don't like that thinking anymore in this country."

Presumptuous to say the least....intolerant in the most cynical of analysis.

May I to conclude that Matthews considers himself a member of the American public and Ari Fleischer can no longer consider himself as part of that group?

Where is that famous Olbermann MSNBC commercial about partisanship and leaving it behind so the nation can simply "survive?"

From the USA Cramer article:

"Here's a guy who may have his career on the line," says Bob Gold of public relations firm Bob Gold & Associates. "His credibility has been brought into question. NBC Universal (CNBC's parent) will have to draw a line. Trust is at stake."

NBC worried that their credibility could be affected by Cramer when they not only tolerate KO and Tweety but promote and encourage them?

I wouldn't be surprised at all. How sad.

Over the last couple of days FNC have gone after Speaker Pelosi over her use of military aircraft...This smear was originally started by Judicial Watch....But it didn't take FNC long to latch onto it. The Friends even had makin on (in part) about this very issue today....Even thought ABC News had debunked most of the claims asserted by Judicial Watch. Malkin looked very sheepish when told Speaker Hastert had used the same aircraft on nearly a weekly basis....She quickly scuttled around that one.

Nice to see ABC News don't just take things at face value...like FNC do...they(ABC) go out and check the facts and then report them. When will Fox learn they need to verify fact and not just take Right Wing talking points at face value.

Once again Haggy, you smear witout producing facts.

What did the friend say that was a lie? C'mon, give quotes. Your paraphrasing skills are not quite up to snuff ... an example:

Haggy: Bill O'Reilly called Obama a pinhead.

what was said:

Anyone who doesn't save room for a peach cobbler is a pinhead.

Ashley I don't know what post your reading....But I never said the friends lied....I said they had Malkin on today...I know this because I watched her via the great link Nibbles posted yesterday. They actually confronted Malkin over the Hastert use of aircraft...This info came directly from the ABC article.
The Friends had obviously got the e-mail from on-high to read the ABC article before spouting more wrong talking points.

Immelt was predicting GE would continue with a healthy dividend AND keep it's bond rating, Haggis. Both have gone bye-bye.

I am sure that the long record GE had in it's QUALITY bond rating (since the year Immelt was born, 1956), is something he's proud of and will advertise such a success on it's reports.

The transcript of Chris vs Ari, which is a real "slap down," doesn't show Matthew's expressions as Ari succeeds in stopping Matthews from interrupting (note the crew laughter in the background) and for the first time in the history of Hardball, Chris is speechless, mouth agape and Ari had to answer the question he asked Chris.

If O'Reilly were interviewing Cramer I doubt there would be people livetweeting it, at least not until it aired. Also I'd be shocked if NBC let Cramer appear on Fox. Or that Fox would want him to, given how Fox fired him for some ethical problem many years ago.

Well Haggy, here is what JW said. Please point out the part where "JW said Pelosi herself was upset she couldn't get a C-5...But this is plainly not true....A lie. "

From JW

The documents also detail correspondence from intermediaries for Speaker Pelosi issuing demands for certain aircraft and expressing outrage when requested military planes were not available. "It is my understanding there are no G5s available for the House during the Memorial Day recess. This is totally unacceptable...The speaker will want to know where the planes are..." wrote Kay King, Director of the House Office of Interparliamentary Affairs. In a separate email, when told a certain type of aircraft would not be available, King writes, "This is not good news, and we will have some very disappointed folks, as well as a very upset [s]peaker."

Unless you can prove that JW forged the email from Kay King who works for Speaker Pelosi, you got nothing.

One of us will be proven correct on this point when CM does his show today. If he makes the Gotcha, you are right. If he does not make the Gotha, it's because he interprets the context as I do. That would make me right.

What's that Haggis? Michelle Malkin cannot disprove ABC's conclusion, "The documents cover the period from January 2007 to November 2008?"

Well, she did.....

"As I reported (yeah, we can do that, too, MSM), one of the most notable e-mail exchanges I found in the docs (which was not spotlighted in JW's release, but could be found by anyone who actually clicked through on JW’s site to the actual records) dealt with Pelosi’s absurd demand in December 2008 (that’s just three months ago, not 'early in her tenure') that the military move her jet from San Francisco airport to Travis Air Force base (where she had 'business' and where she just so happens to have a country home nearby in Napa 30 minutes away!) Queen Pelosi didn’t want to drive 1.5 hours. She demanded that the military come to her. DoD officials pointed out that this had never been done before — not even for the Defense Secretary.

"Yet ABC News asserts that JW's document release 'doesn’t seem to prove the organization's allegation that Pelosi has made 'unprecedented demands' for the flights.'"

SPEAKING TRUTH TO POWER AND HOLDING OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS ACCOUNTABLE.....FNC! Good reporting. As our fellow citizens are cutting back in hard economic times, JW and FNC show how our spoiled leftist Speaker abuses the power of her office!

When a guy from JW was interviewed on FNC yesterday...He made out the e-mail was referring to Pelosi wanting the plane.....That is untrue....The plane was needed for a Congressional delegations.

and you still can't provide a quote?

By the way, JW said many other things which ABC is not disputing, so overall, even if you are correct, JW's analysis is "spot on".

But I'll take the word of an ABC report any day over anything said by JW or FNC...I'll say no more on this topic.

In doing research on the CM/Fleisher interview, I see that Matthews is making the claim that the recession is something "We inherited".

Is he co-President? Did I miss something here? Did the tingle or thrill going up his leg settle in his brain?

Well, sorry Haggis for refuting the left's talking points defending Pelosi and defaming the hard work of JW and FNC. It seems that our speaker has been making demands of the DoD that are unique and expensive. At least Hastert was acting this way during, "the culture of corruption" that the MSM was all over and not the current near depression we are in now!

You see the difference? Pelosi is in POWER, yet defense of her is ok when it suits the ideology. No such defense when it is the other way around.

The same goes for Bill Clinton's obvious mistakes about "fertilizing embryos" and Dr. Gupta allowing such silliness to pass uncorrected.....the covered pol fits the agenda so the truth is ignored. That is TRUE bias.

FNC stands as unscathed in covering the speaker's abuse. ABC is, once again, apologizing for her behavior.

Malkin absolutely nailed the ABC article on Pelosi. So glad she appears on FNC.

Her request to have the flight come to her was unprecedented. ABC got it wrong. I guess they didn't check their facts.

Did F&F mention that this morning and explain it?

Didn't MSNBC recently go on the attack against Limbaugh for mistakenly saying something was in the consitution when it was not?

If so, then I wonder if they commented on Bill Clinton when he made his famous comment "The last time I checked, the Constitution said, 'Of the people, by the people, and for the people.' That's what the Declaration of Independence says."

So Haggis - did Chris Matthews address the Fleisher comment? One would think that if a former "Bushie" would say in 2009 that Saddam was behind 9/11, CM would be all over that! Even if he was too dumb to realize that when he interviewed AF, he would have picked up on by now (someone would mention it to him, right????).

Or perhaps CM is smart enough to realize the contect in which that quote resides and knows it's a non-issue.

What say you about CM?

So now MSNBC and Andrea Mitchell is apologizing to Barney Frank for doing their job? They are no longer allowed to investigate any of the Obama cabinet nominees with tax problems? Not allowed to report it? It's gotten out of control????

MSNBC is kowtowing to a democrat and apologizing for doing its job, pleading guilty because it went too far? What went too far????

Very sad day for the media. MSNBC should be ashamed.

Thank God for FNC!

I listened to the Hardball replay of the Ari segment last night, and when I heard AF say, "...After Sept 11th having being hit once, how could we take a chance Saddam wouldn't strike again..." I did a double take.

It sounded like Fleisher was saying that Sadaam attacked us Sept 11th. Knowing that Ari didn't think that, knew it wasn't true and certainly wouldn't try and pass that off on Hardball, I came to the conclusion that Fleisher's mouth got a little ahead of his brain.

Simply put, what it sounded like he said wasn't what he was trying to say.

Sort of like what Bill Clinton said to Dr. Gupta about embryonic stem cells.......except Ari only said his once, Ari's was ambiguous but Clinton clearly meant what he was saying and Bill Clinton is the smartest American President of all time (pre-Obama).

AF's contention is that taking Saddam out had prevented him from continuing to seek weapons against us and had also curtailed the nuclear ambitions of Syria and Libya. Ambitions that could most definitely have led to our being struck by an enemy "again".

Chris Matthews didn't "catch" AF's comment in the way Haggis means, because within the context of what they were arguing Matthews understood (but did not concur with) Ari's point.

That's not to say that Matthews isn't kicking himself for the opportunity he lost by reflexively following and responding in context to Ari's train of thought.

An interesting aspect of the Air Pelosi/JW/FNC/ABC News/Haggis dust up:

I read the ABC News article last night (and again today) and the writers didn't actually say anything definitively about Speaker Pelosi's frequent flyer favors. In fact, the article wasn't about Pelosi, it was about the JW release.

The ABC News article SEEMED to have been written by Honor Grads of the Olbermann School of Innuendo.

Phrases straight out of Advanced Creative Olbyisms were PRACTICALLY peppered throughout the entire article.

For example:

doesn't seem to prove
In fact, it appears
his former aides tell
virtually every weekend
also occasionally leads
the documents show
According to the documents
Judicial Watch release cites e-mails
These e-mails, however,
JW release also cites an e-mail from a Pelosi staffer complaining
but this has nothing to do with Pelosi's travel

As you were. Smoke 'em if ya' got 'em.

Speshul Komment?

Peggy,

When Johnny posted the comment purportedly from Ellen, he did so with the warning that he was not sure that it was really her.

That you refer to this as "lying" is irrational.

One of the things we should consider is that Ms. Augello may be reacting from the stress she's under. It's very plausible that she is not used to the sort of clamor and heat that comes from the politicalization of all issues via the internet.

Most people aren't. I'd be surprised if most your friends in real life engage in internet discussion the the way we do or even are especially political in more than the usual way. Mine sure aren't.

I've been a part of many volunteer organizations and crisis centers for years, and know that even at the top (especially at the top) the leadership is not comprised of political ideologues. Frankly, that status tends to be seen more in the rank and file.

Ms. Augello may regret feeling angry and pressured enough to have commented at all and by doing so having increased the turmoil. She may have tried to back away from it by denial and then thought better of it. She's human.

Neither she nor her organization have committed heinous moral and ethical infractions. Collect your signatures and turn them over to the board.

By all means, cut somebody, somewhere, who doesn't see things precisely as you feel they should, a bit a slack, and try to have a nice day.

BTW-- I'd love to hear how it is to live in Ireland, if you'd ever care to write me about it. I've always fantasized about living in the Hebrides.

Then "she who must be obeyed" ,Ellen, turns the children loose to smear and name call anyone who disagrees with their "sarcasm". This is their way of avoiding rational discussion of their topics. They cannot defend their positions so they resort to their junior high tactics.

OK, strictly speaking, Beck did not call Carter a Nazi, he only (jokingly) implied that Carter was a bigger pinhead than the person responsible for exterminating 6 million Jews, 6 million assorted leftists, Communists, Gypsys, homsexuals and starting a war that killed roughly 50 million people. But, strictly speaking, you are right, he did not call him a Nazi.

The Beck situation at FNC is interesting to me. Beck was inconsequential at CNN, but he seems to be nudging O'Reilly and Hannity out at FNC. O'Reilly has made this easy. His show lacks energy and his routine is tired. With his new format, Hannity is not as stale, but he is more and more the partisan zealot. Since the disposition of the nation has changed, Hannity stands out more, but he is developing a fringe quality. At CNN, Beck never could get into the Express Lane, but FNC allows more items. Still, there is a sense that at any moment he'll start hurling mayonaise jars at the checker.

Well, now that's the point, NVH.

You don't label a monster a "pinhead". That's like calling a child molester 'dolt' or a terrorist a 'nitwit'. It trivializes evil as merely being silly or dumb, instead of what it is--baleful, malignant, hideous, misery-causing.

If anyone should have been criticized in the exchange it was O'Reilly (of course when your bunch criticizes him, it's invariably that he's a monster rather than a pinhead, no matter how harmless the infraction). Glenn Beck wryly made the point.

And THAT, my friend, is why NH missed the obvious in the first place. An utterly pinheaded boneheaded doltish and dumb, refusal to have (when it comes to FNC employees) any sense of perspective...
