"Choice #1. Former House Budget Committee Chairman John Kasich"
McCain definately needs a "Kasich." I don't see it happening because Kasich would outshine McCain. I wouldn't mind being wrong, at all. In this case, I would celebrate being wrong.

I think Julie changes outfits between gigs because she knows she has a fan base comprised of folks who admire her Latin loveliness.
i'm not judgmental about that tactic-- work it, girl!

Kasich link is dead wrong. Palin for VP, y'all! (http://palinforvp.blogspot.com/)
And she would definitely outshine McCain - in a good way.
The Hume links are gold, as should be expected.

I second that. The Brit Hume videos were great. "The Strategy Room" clip was okay.
I don't really care about any new Obama/Osama gaffes. They'll happen, the people will correct themselves, we'll move on.
What did Spud (or whomever at ICN) mean by "[Phil Griffin taking 'full control at MSNBC'] may be the first domino in a series of dominos that fall"? Since he and Olby are buddies, wouldn't it be part of things falling into place?

A fan of stiletto feminism I see.Getting most of my news from newspapers and NPR,except for Daniel Schorr's voice,I'm not often exposed to the oogling branch of the news business.

Hey Fox Fan, I loved that Spicy Banderas site (it's actually how I found this one). Too bad it got deleted though.

In time, perhaps that exposure to those sorts of information outlets will positively effect your reasoning and processing abilities.

OS, ANYONE will outshine McCain. But that's what we need.
Anyway, I always liked Kasich on his "Heartland" program and hated Fox for dumping him for the trashy Geraldo program. Kasich seems extremely competent and I'm sure he'd excel in any position of leadership, should he not be given another cable program.

Thanks for the Lamb-Hume interview video, Johnny. Very interesting comments by Hume expressing what we've all said would be an outlook that would serve Olbermann and his show well. However, like many of his ideological brethren, he's too doctrinaire to fathom it.
I kept waiting to see if Lamb would do the often seen (around here anyway) ploy of being uber serious concerning the ethical-cultural considerations of any FNC criticism launched from any corner, while inveriably waving away any FNC triumph with ratings comparisons between cable news watchers and the rest of news watching pop.
Fortunately, Lamb is less ideological and more intellectually honest than that.

Wow! I'm surprised! Rachel Maddow and I have some big things in common (not that one...)!
I love classic cocktails and shooting things too. I was once issued a citation for target shooting my then new Glock at a tree in my yard. I didn't know that I wasn't supposed to in city limits. I have lots of trees and no neighbor's house is very close.
I'd rather listen to Frank than to some country artist though.

Brian Lamb is an impressive person.I've watched many of his interviews on C-span. He does an impressive job of allowing his guests to have their say without lapsing into confrontational questioning. Most informative.
Though I've heard callers to C-Span accuse him of liberal bias. One particular caller went so far as to say that his facial expressions revealed his bias. I don't know about you,but I wouldn't want to play poker with him,or any of the C-Span moderators.

I would be careful relying on ratings to deflect criticism or imply quality. If you measure the quality of a product by it's popularity,if a competitor would surpass Fox in ratings, then by that standard it would imply that the competitor (CNN,MSNBC) had greater quality.

I"ve never seen Lamb interview a Liberal (meaning... I dont watch his interviews with Liberals)
Of the interviews of conservatives I've seen him do, he's always seemed like a thoughtful interviewer to me.

I particularly liked the Hume interview because he made some of the same points that I have been making.
I agree that Fox is disliked by other media for two basic reasons:
First, Fox has dared to be different. Before Fox, all the news outlets covered the same stories in the same way. When you flipped from one station to another, the newscasts you got were almost identical. There was (and is) a pack mentality among the media.
Fox broke from the pack and started covering stories that others weren't covering. Even when Fox did cover the same stories, Fox would try to bring a different slant.
Secondly, the other media didn't like the fact that Fox had higher ratings. If Fox's ratings had been in the toilet, nothing much would have been said about Fox. The fact that Fox's ratings have been very good is a cause for envy and anger.
Towards the turn of the 20th Century, researchers conducted the famous Hawthorne experiments. The research focused on a telephone wiring assembly.
The workers had their own way of disciplining their fellow workers. If a worker was too productive, that made his colleagues look bad. So, the other workers would hit (or bing) the offending worker.
Similarly Fox is today being "binged" (figuratively) by others in the news media (and elsewhere.). Sometimes that is the price you have to pay for being more productive and putting out a different, superior product.

Caught the end of Hannity's radio show today. He announced that tonight some of the H&C topics will be: the n word meltdown on The View and the New York Times refusal to print McCain's editorial on the war.
The New York times had no problem printing Obama's views, but they balked and printing McCain's views on the same topic.
Why people want to put Fox under a microscope while ignoring this kind of grossly unfair and unbalanced behavior in the mainstream media is beyond me. Seems these critics of Fox are the type of folks who would strain and gnat and then swallow a camel!!

The old york times said they would print the "op-ed" piece if it was "rewritten to mirror obamas piece." I guess the "op-ed" editor has not a clue what an op-ed really is.

I'm with Cecelia on a couple of things here.
First, I was put off by the characterization of this site as a "link dump" as well. I'm glad you put up the NH piece on a day someone referred to J$P as such.
II, I have lots in common with Rachel Maddow! I love fishing, shooting guns, good drinks, and women!

Debra Saunders is on "The Factor" right now. So, I really need to apologize for calling her a traitor to BOR yesterday...at least for the moment. I'll see how I feel at segment's end.

I actually passed the NYT building on 8th Avenue yesterday afternoon going to and from the New World Stages for Jackie Mason's last stage performance. I even took a picture of the building.

What's wrong with Jane Skinner being complimentary? The interview is up on FOXNews.com's video page. I won't link to it for fear of violating the rules. But on the page, look in "US". The video headline reads "Beijing Bound."

The U.S. Softball team was visiting the White House. So, that may have also played a role in HuffPo's anger.
Incidentally, today is the first day we finally see video clips posted on FOXNews.com in HD. Next week, Cablevision subscribers (iO TV) will see FNC in HD for the first time.
I'm officially a member at RedLasso. So, now, I, too, can post clips from select TV and radio shows. So far, I've only done that for two segments from Thursday's "O'Reilly Factor."

Brit Hume retiring? Goodbye to one of the biggest frauds in American journalism and a partisan mouthpiece for the conservative wing of the Republican Party. Fox will replace him with another overt partisan. No big deal.
