I'm several days late, but I predicted that Cablevision would readily add Planet Green once it launched while forgetting about FBN, and I was right. It was added the very day it was launched, Wednesday.
MSNBC primetime shows seem to be getting lots of demo wins lately. That must stop. :

From Cablevision's press release:
"Cablevision continues to enhance our award-winning digital cable service through the addition of compelling programming from top cable networks and unique local content our competitors don't offer," said John Trierweiler, Cablevision's senior vice president of product management. "Planet Green is a welcome addition to iO TV, offering viewers an entertaining and informative look at the environment and the green living movement."
Your competitors offer channels that you don't, like FBN, ESPNU, Boomerang, and NFL Network. Those channels, especially FBN, would be welcome additions. But they don't listen to me. At the same time, I have no choice but to stick with them.

LGF found a PDF file on Obama's website that states that Obama plans to hold accountable any perpetrators of war crimes
Does anyone have contacts with Fox and could pass this information to them, so that Americans can be infomed what the Marxists are planning on doing if they do win?

A tremendous source of confusion in coverage of the primary election in the Democratic party was why was it Senator Clinton couldn't make the final push. Of course, we have seen sexism advanced, some vast left wing conspiracy, and while I don't think any of the cable news outlets advanced these theories, they were pleased to disperse them. A number of sources, including Politico, have picked up on the notion that:
#1 Clinton made a tactical blunder in not contesting caucus states. This is so true. Many state Democratic parties have a long tradition of caucus selection processes (as opposed to primaries). While I don't particularly like the caucus system, it does serve a unique purpose in building up the party is states where it is floundering. In Texas alone, Clinton barely won the primary (2/3 of the delegates allotted, a virtual even split), Obama won the caucauses by a much higher margin. Net advantage Obama. Yet, no one on cable news made a point of challenging the Clinton campaign's contention it had won Texas. CNN was closest in making Texas striped, light and dark blue.
#2 African Americans, initially overhwlemingly Clinton, drifted to Obama. Actually they surged. Yet, this mid-election change went largely unexplained.
Time has now advanced the notion, and backed up the idea that:
#3 Clinton did not accomplish what she should have done with women. Older women were overwhelmingly Clinton, while younger women were overwhelmingly Obama. Clinton should have picked up the middle generation 65-70%. Instead, she split it, disproportionately high in the Rust Belt, disproportionately low elsewhere, yet, overall, almost equal. This also goes uncovered. The conventional wisdom on cable news is simply Clinton won women.
Also, now accepted:
#4 Clinton planned to win by Super Tuesday, and there were no resources left after. Hence, the US +$20 Millon debt. This is more widely discussed and understood. As a manager, Clinton failed.
The problem, as I see it, is that cable news has these wonderful resources to cover these statistics and trends in detail, with much time to devote. Far better able to give all of this the coverage it deserves instead of broadcast news. Yet, it fails miserably. Across the board. Not just FNC, and not just MSNBC. CNN, the paragon of cable news failed as well. Shouldn't we be demanding more?

Now let's recall that KO DOES NOT condone storming Bill O'Reilly's house, "Even Keith Olbermann gave me second worst person in the world for this stunt last year." However, I think for Mike Stark, after O'Reilly's Ambush people got embarassed it's time for Bill O'Reilly to "face the music" a second time, and Bill O'Reilly MUST Respond to Mike Stark, instead of Bill O'Reilly asking Mike Stark to "go away from the property".

Johnny,
RK raised an interesting issue, and your viewership stats reminded me of it.
she called the 25-54 age group THE demographic.
Doesn't that kind of thinking harken back to an earlier day when there were three networks, so everyone tried to win the most profitable demographic?
However things have changed. There are today a huge number of tv alternatives. Niche markets are becoming more important. For example: The 54-70 market has wealth and it is not unimportant from an advertisers point of view.
Also, younger people generally do not read newspapers, listen to talk radio; or listen to nightly news programs. Advertisers shooting for a younger crowd probably would be looking for a different venue than a cable news show.
I just don't see the sense of speaking of the 25-74 age bracket as being THE demographic. Maybe someone can explain.

THE demo is less applicable to things like cable news and talk radio, because they are inherently not prime interests of the 25-54 crowd. Some advertisers still look for the demo, even on cable news, but others don't.

Winning the demo is still a good thing to have. Winning it AND 2+ is even better. All things being equal most advertisers are more interested in the demo. But as I said, in cable news there are advertisers who sell to the total viewers rather than the demo, because they know that there are many more of them.

Dollar,
Of course whether that is the demographic depends on what you are advertising and who your ads target.
You don't always want to target the "best" market. Enterprise (not avis) became the number 1 rental car company because they initially targeted small towns and not airports traffic which the other rental car companies were targeting.

Hertz used to be and Avis advertised we are number 2 and we try harder.
Enterprise however tried smarter. They got rich by advertising to a market that no one else was reaching. After they grew strong there then they started going after the airport crowd. Now they are number 1.
Just shows that it is a fallacy always to market to the "best" demographic.

I heard O'Reilly. He makes a lot of sense. His solution to the oil crises: flex fuel cars; more domestic drilling; and I think the third was nuclear power plants.
Overall, The republicans are in a better position to advocate those solutions since the democrats are overall more in bed with the environmental radicals.
Why so few politicians are trying to sell those solutions is beyond me.
Make ad saying which do you want, Lower gas prices or to make life easier for the deer in Alaska. I don't know why that would not sell.

Comment:
After being called a conspiracy theorist I posted this.
Who said anything about conspiracys, Im talking about taking bribes from the Arabs; dont you think thats being done, its called the price of doing business? Take a look at the Carters Center financing and then look at how he helps skew the oil market. Why wouldnt you think that politicians would take a bribe when every year someone goes to jail for it. How cheap it would be to buy votes and you wouldnt need many, what 50 Senators? Pay a couple of Billion Dollars in Swiss accounts or fund PACs, Universities and their professors to push the Arab Oil Agenda, didnt Saudia Arabia just give a couple of hundreds of millions to Harvard and a few other places, saw that in the newspapers, just what do you think that is for? Phoney up a few trusts where its impossible to find out what, where and how much they are really giving, want to really screw up oil shale development give 20 attornies 50 million dollars to start environmental inspections, lawsuits, marchs on State Legislatures, its a lot of money on the table, $800 Billion to the Arabs this year a couple of Billion to Senators, Congressmen/women, couple of greens to suppress gas and oil exploration, stop Nuclear and all the rest of things that they as American citizens can do legally and the investment comes back a hundred fold. Why wouldnt the Arab oil producers do something like that, its the smart thing to do and its what is ingrained in the Arab ethic, they have none. How laughable that you dont think bribery works, it does and has for millennia. You must think the Arab stupid and our elected officials completly honest if you dont think this is happening somewhat right now. Remember, money talks and you know what walks.

'The stats came from Congressman Roy Blunt.'
(R) Missourri, House Republican Whip.He doesn't have an ideological axe to grind any more than Henry Waxman.Don't you think we should take that with a grain of salt?
So ,how many billions of taxpayer money should we spend to promote coal to liquids?
How many billions for oil-shale extraction (an expensive and inefficient enterprise,c/o tar sand extraction)
Would soemone explain to me how oil companies having excess refining capacity would lower prices?
Are we to subsidize continental shelf exploration, another pricey endeavor?
ANWR would supply about 2% of our current needs. And as our consumption continues to rise, that percentage would continue to shrink unless we start doing something radical towards conservation.
But assuming we pulled out all the stops, overrode Fla.'s opposition on shelf drilling, threw open ANWR,etc, there would not be a drop of new oil available for 10 years. WOULD THAT EFFECT PRICES TODAY ????

nvh, you should take everything with a grain of salt, but that's not quite the same as looking a two partisans and judging them both to have equally equivalent axes to grind. You might want to consider if the subject is about a particular course of action or policy that has long been championed by that member, if their facts are also fodder for their seeking some sort of investigation putively to difference the between bad policy and actual malfeasance. In short, there's a difference between
having an ax to grind from having a policy to champion.
I'll leave you for you to decide if there's a difference there between what could be an easily disprovable paper based on voting stats by Blunt and a more abstract analysis of intention by Waxman, and to weigh your suspicion factor based upon that...
As to remark about access and price, I'm sure there's something about supply and demand phenomenon on the web that you can read.
To the other point about is there room for finger pointing on both sides, for not doing more sooner yes. Are there distinctions to be made concerning issues like coal gasification (which environmentalist had fewer but still many concerns about) and policies on rationing-- yes.

Apparently, it is off topic to respond to one of the many (in fact, all) off topic posts of others (particularly Cecelia and Mr. Sucks) who happen to feed at he FNC trough and are site soul mates. Well, I suppose as long as we know it's fine to be off topic if you are an FNC fan or if you're attaking someone who criticizes FNC. Seems rather News Hounds-esque to me, and although I can't understand why anyone what aspire to me that low standard, I suppose at least we know the rules. Please, by all means, delete as soon as possible, Johnny.

Don't be a crybaby. Others got off-topicked too. And don't start about favoritism. It's messages that have nothing to do with FNC and cable news that are getting nuked. I've tried to use persuasion but it doesn't work, and when it doesn't work that's when I step in.
As I've said before, whining about the rules is not pertinent to these threads. You can always take it to email if you must.

"Interesting" point-of-view. Thanks for sharing.
I actually support your on topic rule, and I abide with it largely. And, your very real favoritism aside, I will try to abide. When I don't, I am pleased you call me on it, even if I am displeased that others don't get called on it.
The point is, all that aside, it remains a good site. Like everyone else, you're entitled to your quirks and foibles.

So the fear is that serious O/T discussion of energy policy or the Middle East will scare off serious posters interested in discussing cable news, but an hours long thread about urinary incontinence on Saturday night would not deter such serious minds.
Euphemistically speaking,whatever floats your boat.
